    Sweling after surgery!!!

    Fluid shifts in the body is common after a patient has a lap band. Also the pain medication tends to constipate you. Belly swelling will go down, be patient. :laugh:
  2. Dr. Stephen Hamn in Plano did my lap band. I was a cash pay . It cost 14,500.00 That included everything and an overnight stay at Baylor Frisco hospital in a very plush private room. He keeps his patients overnight so they can not be rushed out the door the first day. I had a pain pump and it was fantastic ! Worth every penny. I financed it through his office. All of my band fills are included in the price for one year. I have lost over 105 lbs. and love Dr. Hamn. He saved my life:tt1:

    Sushi Anyone?

    I dont think sushi will be on your diet if you are looking to loose weight. Also, the rice can ball up and cause you to throw up. Rice, potatoes are difficult. They are high in starch and carbohydrates, so I would stay away from them for a long time until you are happy with your weight loss. Sushi is not very filling and you have to eat a whole lot to get satisfied. I gave up many things I loved to have weight loss success and to be more healthy. After I was off the liquids while my band was healing, I looked at eating healthy to loose weight and have a long disease free life. I wish you well !
  4. Reminder-If you have your surgery in another country and get home with a complication ( infection, leak, band slip, etc ) Who are you going to find to take care of you? Not many bariatric Dr.s want other Dr's dissasters. It is a liability issue for these Dr.'s to take care of other Dr's patients. The cost of a complication after you get home will be minimal to the saving of having it done in another country. :laugh:
  5. Mathew Cheaper is not always better. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Remember this is your life you are putting in the doctor and nurses hands. I had lap band surgery and my friend had a gastric sleeve with Dr. Stephen Hamn in Plano and Frisco Texas. If insurance does not pay it is 14,500 for everything. that includes overnight stay and you can stay longer if you need to. The sleeve is a two night stay. They want to keep you comfortable and not heard you out like cattle for the same price. at a very plush hospital all private rooms. You can even finance it through his office. It is Baylor hospital in Frisco TX. I is a real country club hospital. Dr's that are offering cheap prices are doing whatever they can to get cases. They discharge you the same day and the follow up sucks, plus their lap band fills are not included in the price. With Dr. Stephen Hamn all your fills are included the first year. Most places charge you 250.00-650.00 per fill. I do not feel 14,500.00 is a bad price at all. If I were to have plastic surgery , ex. tummy tuck with a reputable Dr. it would be the same or more. There are over 240 bariatric surgeons in Texas. Be real careful who you refer these people to. You may be included in a law suit for a bad outcome. Dr. Stephen V. Hamn is awesome and I recommend him without reservations. He was one of the first Dr.'s in Texas to do bariatric surgery with over 19 years experience. That is why I choose him. I really did my research. It was the most important decision of my life!

    Dr. Stephen Hamn, AAA+++++

    Coolcrystal If your friend and her friend that had the lap band by Dr. Stephen Hamn failed, it was not becasue it was done wrong.I had a band with Dr. hamn and I have lost 105 lbs. in little over a year. I followed everything he told me to do, and it works. Dr. Hamn has had huge success with his lap band patients. He is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in Texas. Remember,the band is only a tool. Many people fool themselves and eat too many calories, then blame it on the band or the fills. The patient has to take responsibilty for how many calories a day they are consuming. If a band patiet is having problems, then they are probably eating too much and filling up their esophagus. With a lap band you really have to eat slowly, chew your food really well, do not drink fluids until after your meal, and count your calories. A patient can really create problems themselves with their band if they do not follow the rules. Let's stop blaming the doctor's and take some responsibilty for our own failures or successes with our eating habits.
  7. I had a Lap band performed by Dr. Stephen Hamn in Plano, TX. I can not say enough wonderful things about him and his staff. He has been extrememly caring and has taught me so much about how to use my band as a weight loss tool. I had my surgery over a year ago and have lost 105 lbs. My sister had a laparascopic gastric sleeve by Dr. Hamn and she is doing fantastic also. No problems and the weight is falling off quickly. I think Dr. Hamn has a wonderful bedside manner. He takes his time with you and does not rush you during your appointment. My sister is a nurse and asked many doctors about Dr. Hamn. They all gave him a thumbs up. I took at least 45 minutes with him on one appointment asking questions and he did not try to rush me. I have a big crush on him.
