I was scared to death. But, the hospital staff was nice. The surgical team was excellent. After they put the oxygen mask on me...I didn't remember a thing. I briefly remember waking up in recovery, having my vitals check every so often, and sucking on ice chips. I had GI in the morning, and my blood sugar checked, as well as my potassium level. My surgery was scheduled for 9:30 am...my potassium was 2.8--it needed to be about 3.0 for the surgery to occur. So they gave me an IV drip of potassium over the course of 4 hours. My doctor was able to book another OR, and my surgery took place later in the afternoon. I have taken no pain medications since I woke up. My throat hurts (is sore) from the tube. But other than that, it really wasn't a big deal...so far. I am on clear liquids today, and tomorrow. On Thanksgiving, I can move onto a full liquid diet...welcome back slimfast. I am going to get some sleep now...so for those of you waiting for your surgery...know that I was scared to death, and I did just fine, and so will you!
