For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
bswint replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am confused because I am 1 month post surgery. I have the 10cc band, and my surgeon filled me with 3cc during surgery. I have lost 26 lbs, but I have noticed over the last couple of days that I am eating more. For instance today @ lunch I had an entire hamburger (meat only) because I am afraid if I eat the bread thatit might get stuck. Anyway, I know a couple of weeks ago right after liquids I would have gotten full off of 1/4 of the burger. So I am filled 3cc, but I am wondering if I need to go get filled even more. I will admit that I am guilty of drinking with my meals. That has been the hardest habbit to break!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey wait maybe that is my problem. You guys are the greatest! Brian P.S. When they did a fluro on me the other week, they said that my hole was about the size of a drinking straw so if I get another fill, then that would be really small... -
I was banded on 8/25/06. I have the VG band and it was filled during surgery with 3cc. Everything has been great until tonight. I was watching a show and laughed when I heard or rather felt this "pop" near my port. I have no vomiting, no pain, etc. I am really worried that my band slipped or something. Maybe came apart. Has ANYONE had anything like this happen??????? I am sort of freaking out. I can eat and drink fine.

Here is my latest update: I went to the surgery center today and did the barium swallow. All is o.k. with my band. The nurse said it was possibly just a muscle pop. I met a few other people that were in to get filled, and a couple of them had experienced the same thing with the popping. Thanks again for the support!! Brian

thanks everyone!! Dr. Spiegel in Houston did my surgery. I went to the ER last night, WHAT A JOKE!! of course this would happen on labor day weekend so I can't get in touch with anyone until tuesday...... I just went to lunch and had Soup. I still get full on about 1/2 a bowl. So I think everything is ok, btu being new to this experience I was freaking out. I was a self pay and can't imagine paying for this again. If I drink a lot of liquid real fast I can get full for a few minutes. I will be calling the Dr.'s office in the morning. I know I will never see Dr. Spiegel again unless he is cutting on me, but the surgery center should be able to help me. I know I will be having to do the barium swallow and x-ray. Thanks again for all of your help. Hopefully the port tubing is still in tact. Brian

Was anyone filled during surgery? I used the search function, but no hits. I had surgery 8/25/06 and Dr. Spiegel filled my band with 3cc. I am really glad he did, because I am hungry now, I can only imagine if I were not filled at all.

Well I think I have the large band(VG). Although my nurse at the hospital said that my band size isn't in her chart, but she thought that I had the 6 cc band. Either way I am happy to already have been filled! Thanks everyone!! Brian

go ahead and pm me. I was born and raised in SA. On the northside of SA a 3bedroom townhouse or condo will cost between $1000-1300/mo. Now there are places that are older and are a little less expensive. And the new places to live forget it. They are REALLY proud of their property. I went to one and they are wanting $1650/mo for a 3 bedroom @1020 sq. feet. feel free to pm me. BRian

Yeah I thought the same thing! I am scheduled for my pre-op 8/18/06 and my surgery is scheduled for 8/25/06. I am going with Dr. Felix Spiegel. I am a self pay so it's cash only for me, but It did strike me as odd that he accepts cash only and cashiers checks. I was a little put out when I went to the cattle call and it was all cash only. However, when I sat and listened to everyone and spoke privately with Dr. Spiegel($250.00 consultation) he said that he had been stung several times by people and insurance so I guess the only way not to get stung is by cash. I'm rambling, SORRRY! I am just scared to death of going into surgery alive and breathing, and comming out DEAD! I am going through with it, but it has caused me to look at my own mortality! -
Well I just sold my house in SA. I am in Houston now, but can't wait to go back! As far as a job goes it really depends on what you do for a living. As far as real estate it depends on what you want to pay. SA is known for it's low cost of living, BUT the pay is usually on the lower scale so it all washes out. If you are looking to pay $600/mo in rent or lower you need to stay on the south and west sides. The North side is MUCH safer, but MUCH more expensive. Remember the population in SA in primarily hispanic, with a lot of immigrant labor. But I am partial to SA and love it and miss it very much. If you want to buy a house their are REALLY good deals out there! Man am I homesick!

I am scheduled for surgery on Aug. 25th. I am using Dr. Spiegal. I understand what you mean about the "cattle call" but I wanted the best surgion avail. Also note that Dr. Spiegal is no longer an "IN NETWORK" provider. He still accepts UHC, but it will be an out of network provider. My insurance doesn't pay for anything having to do with weight loss, so I am now a self pay. -
well this may be my first post, but I must say that some men like myself like big women. I am not small by any stretch of the imagination 350+, and believe me the same can be said from my side of the isle! I was never really into the whole skiiny woman thing. Sure some are decent to look at, BUT usually when you get to know them they are either mean or cruel! (not all, but definately a lot) So you are not alone and believe me when I say big men have the same problem Brian getting banded in July:D
