Gained 40 Pounds And Now Going Back For Fill After Unfill Earlier This Year.
kileyh posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 5 ft 9 and was down to almost my goal weight of 155. I was down to 165 lbs. I started to have issues of severe reflux. Not sure if it was due to stress or what but I couldn't eat and it was causing severe issues, so I had a unfill. I am now up 40 pounds since January. I feel all over digisted with myself for gaining the weight back. I go for a fill tomorrow. Will it be like it used to be or am i always going to have to watch if i get reflux? is there anything i can do to prevent the reflux? kileydisgusted that I let it go back up and I am feeling uneasy that with another -

Eating is becoming a pain in the arse!!!
kileyh replied to thequeensfool's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can relate!!! This morning i had a protein drink, and I tried to eat a partial chicken burrito for lunch and after a few bites it would not go down and caused pain. It is almost 3PM and that is all I have been able to get down. -
Well respected OB/GYN dies from banding complications...
kileyh replied to mini_me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If the infection was this bad I am surprised she did not catch it because I would imagine she would have to have a fever with this and that would be the first sign of infection brewing. If you ever have surgery, they tell you if you get a fever to call. I had a c-sections and with one of them I was home maybe 6-12 hours before I started to run a fever. I had to take anti-biotics and my incision opened up (not pretty). It was strep infection and it took my stomach more than 3 months to heal. I could see the band slipping and not knowing but hard to realize how a drastic infection was not picked up. -
I asked the nutritionist about the drink on thursday and what she said is the do not recommend any drinks that re above 20 calories for 8 oz. The kellogg drink is 30 calories but for 16 oz so 15 cal per 8 oz.

kileyh replied to Florida Pete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am aself pay and my dr does not have a problem with me flying home. He said as long it was not overseas or anything then it was fine. He also wants to see me at 4 wks for checkup and fill. He said even if you did a long over seas flight then you get up and move every hour so you do not get a clot. -

My husband I'd being banded on monday and my mom with dr gonzalez in tj. We went there because he was recommended by my facialist. She was banded by him 2 years ago and she does not have a ounce on her now. She also has two friends and two family members that went to him. I was at walmart and found a box from kelloggs that is just like crystal light powder that contains 5 gms of protein. It was a powder packet that you pour right into the water. They had strawberry kiwi, pink lemonade and another flavor. I tried the lemonade and it was not bad. Tasted like crystal light and you get protein boost that you would not get otherwise.

Is Lap-Band an 'elective' surgery
kileyh replied to loser4life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you must of felt, but in my own hind-sight, I have probably said many stupid things that I did not mean the way they came out. Just know that for you it was not elective, and that there was prob no malice, so be happy and forget about it knowing your new life is right in front of you. -
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is hard for me to think in a year I could be 70 lbs lighter and have the prospect of keeping it off.

I was the same way. I was sick of being anemic and not being able to go out for a week of the month. I was scheduled in 2000 to have a surgery and -i consulted with gyno to takee out my uterous at the same time of my surgery. I was 24 and only had one child but I knew I would be ok to adopt. It ended up I had lost too much blood or just being anemic they could not do the hysterectomy at that time. I went on to adopt and after adopting I got pg. I have always been very heavy since 2000 sometimes worse than others. In spring of 2007 I nearly passed out from losing too much blood. I rand to the gyno and decided on uterine ablation. Mu mom had the freezing of the uterine ablation and it did not work for her. So I knew that is not what I wanted. I got the nova sure procedure. It has worked wonderfully for me. After a year, I had it - believe oct 2007 I love it. I have about 2 days heavy flow (which is prob a normal persons heavy day but so lioght compared to my used to heavy) and then one to two days of spotting. I still wear a liner for 5-6 days thinking I will have breakthrough but I don't. It is from me being traumatized from before that I keep wearing the liner. I would recommend it. Best thing I did. I wished I had done it sooner and did not kick my butt sooner in doing it.
