    smokeing.

Like Granny..., my surgeon told me that if he found nicotine in my system he would not do the surgery. I'm sure it probably depends on the dotor...but I guess it's not all bad. It's one way to make us quit, or at least quick before surgery...LOL.

you can find my link in my reply above. I've only written twice, and I'm hoping to add some pics over the weekend. It would be nice to have someone else read them beside me...LOL. Thanks, Tana

    I have been referred!

I guess I'll be the first to reply. I'm not much further along than you, and unlike you...I do have co-morbidities. However, from my readings it looks like a common practice may be co-morbities are only really needed if BMI is under 40...but I might be wrong. They should also take into consideration that you've had a supervised weightloss in which you stuck it out for more than 6 months, and the weight was gained back. My doctor told me that was a plus in my favor. Although, I haven't been approved...I have a hard time believing that I won't be. I think you'll be fine as well. Good luck!
  7. I definiately see it! You look awesome!
  8. I love this post. Everything mentioned does pertain to me...just a couple to add: Hiding while indulging a candy bar hearing my belly flap against my theighs every time I walk new sexual positions...bend me like a rubberband!

    smokeing.

Hehehe...I quit smoking a few years ago, and when I met with my surgeon for the first time, he told me that I could never smoke again. The first thing I did when I left the office was buy a pack of cigarettes! I'm so defiant! Anyway, I'm hoping it will be all out of my system before I have the blood test done. I'm sure it depends on the doctor, but mine did say that he does test pre-surgery.

    Random Observations

This is the first of my blogs, and I hope there are more to come...just for my personal well being. I'm so far, but much closer than I've been in my entire life. Don't know what that means really. Trying to lose 15-20 pounds pre op, I've lost 5 already and thought I was on my way to a good start. I jacked it up yesterday and today...but I know I'll get back in. Of course, thanksgiving is coming up so I hope I don't slide again. Last thing I'll vent about is my home base support just doesn't get it, and that worries me. It's only been two weeks since I've began this journey and maybe they'll get it eventually...but it's hard trying to make them understand. Oh well...so much for all of that.

  13. DaMomb, Very good point, I remember when I had gallstones during pregnancy, I thought something was wrong with my baby. For 4 months, I would go to the ER, and they would strap on the fetal monitor, tell me everything was fine. After a while, they started to think I was crazy, then all of a sudden they figured out it was my gallbladder. It was scary. You'll be just fine, there's obviously some reasoning behind doing it beforehand.
  14. Hello, My ultrasound has not yet been scheduled, but I was told by my surgeon that it is possible that they will have to remove my gallbladder 6 weeks before my wl surgery. I had gallstones during pregnancy 20 years ago, and he said that if I had a problem once, he's sure it will be a problem after the surgery, and that's why he'd rather take it out before the surgery. I'm hoping the ultrasound will reveal that no gallbladder surgery will be needed.
  15. Thanks Jack, and congrats on your accomplishments. I look forward to chatting with you as well. I'm a hemi-pelvectomy, or as I commonly refer to myself as a super high ak. Can't wait to chat with you.
