  1. Hi, I actually had to create two on their website, with different passwords. then, it worked great. Good luck! I like having the little goals to strive for, and also track the big one! I saw one with a weight tracker and a countdown to their wedding. THAT was a good one! I was just married last July and wish i'd started this process a year early. But i'm here now and losing weight and getting healthy and thats the main goals! Good luck!

    What's for Dinner Tonight?

I actually used a bag of 'shreds' from the grocery store sometimes. Romaine and Leaf lettuce both give me heartburn/gas, or they used to before my surgery. Havent been brave enough to try them since i was banded. I've had 3 fills now, i'm up to 5.6cc in my 10cc band, and i've had problems with boiled eggs, not scrambled or fried (in Pam of course!). And no problem with chicken, pork, or beef. But fish! NO WAY! Have tried 3 times with grilled fish and all three times it has stuck very badly! Canned tuna is fine, it just the 'real' stuff that sticks on me. I do the same thing in the morning, have an Atkins shake. And i buy them online so i have lots of flavors to choose from! Enjoy the wraps! I love them!

  4. Your 'sweet spot' (and it's different for everyone) is where you get optimum weight loss and still have maximum health. You dont want to be so restricted that you eat nothing and your health fails, but you also want enough restriction that you eat small amounts and it will hold you for 4 - 5 hours before you get hungry again. I just had my 3rd fill yesterday, banded 11/26/08. I'm up to 5.6 cc's now in my band, and i do feel a difference even though i'm not on solids yet. My Dr. wants us to have liquids for 2 days after a fill, so tomorrow i will have food and be able to tell how much i can eat, and how long it holds me. Wish me luck that i've finally reached my sweet spot!!!!!
  5. I was banded on 11/26/08 and had the same issue, but i also had a hiatal hernia fixed during surgery. My Dr. said that the burping is normal. He didnt explain why, but it seems to be a very normal, natural thing after eating. My husband is finally getting impressed!

    Some people don't get it...

Just thought of one more thing, to do with the lasagna dinner: I've talked to a lot of friends at work about my surgery. They all have lots of questions since i've had it. When i've told some that I eat lot of Protein, just a few carbs, and little fat, they basically assume it's like a diet for a heavy runner or exerciser. They think I should be eating no sweets, lots of Pasta, no cheese, and little to no beef, but lots of chicken and fish. So it's possible your friend had a misconception about what 'low card' and 'high protein' is. (we have to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, right? :-) ) And if someone does serve me pasta, I ask for a salad plate, or kids plate. makes the small portion look bigger. LOL Take care all! Rhonda

    Some people don't get it...

I don't think you're wrong at all. I didn't tell anyone about the type of surgery I was having either, until after the surgery was completed. I didn't tell for a very selfish reason. I wanted to make the decision 100% on my own. If my progress afterwards doesn't go well, I did not want anyone to be able to say "I told you so" about not doing this. I did this for me. Not for my husband, not for my family, not for work, just me and my health. When I lose the weight that I plan to lose it will be because of my decision. And any problems along the way, of which i've had none except my first plateau now, they are all mine, too. So whichever way you go, telling or not telling, it's all ok if you're ok with your decision. I was banded 11/26/08, and had our family Christmas party at our house on 12/20/08. The funniest thing was watching EVERYONE watch ME eat! LOL Talk about a comedy! it was like they were watching to see what I'd eat, and how much. I did great! Doesn't seem to bother anyone now. No one watches me eat any more. Good luck to us all!
  10. You'll do great, I know it! Please write when you can, and let me know how you do! Also, I've found if I start feeling 'weak' and wanting something I shouldn't have, I come hear and read some blogs while i'm drinking a big glass of Crystal Light. It usually works well. But be prepared for the cravings. When you start getting less carbs, your body will start to have cravings. Lasted about a week or 10 days for me at first. Now they aren't so often, but I still get one occassionally.

My response is too long on here, so i'll wait to hear from you via email to answer the rest fully.

Good luck! Think Thin!!!!! and Think Healthy!!!!!!

  11. Hi! Welcome! I was banded on Nov 26, just over 6 weeks ago. I started at 249, and was only a few lbs lighter for surgery, so I use that as my start wt. Right now, i'm at 213, so I've lost 36 lbs! I had a very easy surgery and recuperation and I followed my Drs orders post-surgery. That's critical. Where are you getting banded? In the US or Mexico? I live in MD, and was banded by Dr. Greened. You should also jump on the blogs and ask lots of questions. Most of the people are great, and although none of us are Drs, learning from our own experiences and those of others that have gone through it is very good. The surgery is definitely worth it and I totally understand you wanting more info.

Let me know if you have any more questions. I check the forum and email almost every day. Feel free to email me directly, My email is rhondapeer@yahoo.com.

Best of luck to you!!!!! You'll do great!!!!

    Rhonda

  12. I was banded the 26th of November, 3 days after you, and I actually had teh same thing happen for a New Years Eve dinner party. The way I dealt with it was to find out exactly what was being served, which it looks like you already know this. Then, I decided in advance of getting there exactly what I would eat and how much. Then there were no surprises. I also had a Protein shake about an hour before the dinner, so I would not be as hungry. It seemed to help. Good Luck! And remember, it's just one party. If you do indulge a bit too much, do an extra hours walking and don't beat yourself up over it. But I know you can do it! And don't forget to enjoy the party, too!!!
  13. I take the calcium citrate petites, and they go down ok. Otherwise, all my pills are either chewables (Flintstones!) or very tiny and have been no problem. Check with your local Vitamin shoppe or store to see what they offer in chewables or small/petite sizes. I do take 4 petites rather than 2 of the regular size, but it's worth it. Good luck!
  14. I agree with you about checking this board daily! It's such a boost and can really help to strengthen my resolve when I need it! I just threw out all the chocolate and Cookies and candies and crackers left from the holidays! I was pretty good over the holidays, didnt lose, but didnt gain, either. I was banded on Nov 26th, 2008, and just had my first fill on Monday Jan 5th, and boy can I feel some restriction now! Someone stated they can burp now, since their surgery, and yes!!! I agree! Its actually wonderful to be able to burp after not being able to for years and years and years! Of course, mine are little 'lady like' burps, but give me time, i'll be in there with the best of em at Super Bowl i'm sure! :-) And I love it when people put quickie recipes here. I check the recipe link, too, but it's good to see them listed, gives me and everyone else great ideas! Hugs to all!!!!

Not Losing. . . except my mind.

I'm getting my first fill tomorrow, and i'm a bit nervous. I was doing well, then the last 3 - 4 days i've done rotten. I'm afraid to get on the scales, but, tomorrow i'll have to. I'm really happy to have found this website and the people on it. I do not want to hear that others are not doing well, but I do like knowing that what i'm going through is normal and then reading that people get through it and do move forward and lose weight! Thanks to all!

    New notorious novembers weightloss spreadsheet

Hi, My new weight is 214. Only lost 2 lbs, but over Christmas and New Years, that's not bad! Also, my 'goal weight' is 150, I gave it to you wrong. Thanks! Rhonda
  18. Yeah, Nickilin! Isnt that such a great feeling, to be able to realize a tiny goal, and know that something is happening, even if the scales dont show you what you want to see! Congrats!!!!!!
  19. My 2 cents worth here, but I think everyone will lose at different rates, but another thing to watch is the inches we are losing. I may not be losing weight as rapidly as i'd like, but with the walking, and additional exercises, I see it in my clothes. I'm just over 5 weeks out from surgery (Banded on November 26th, 2008) and i've lost a total of 16 lbs since my surgery. However, i've lost 35 lbs total, with the 2 week diet before, and over 25 inches over my whole body! So check the inches too!!! Last night I visited with my Sister and her family, and she's about 4 inches shorter, and 100 lbs lighter than me, or used to be. She gave me a sweater that she thought might fit and I thought she was crazy. But, I wore it to work today!!!!! Yeah! Another NSV!!! So count the lbs, definitely, but count the inches, too, and Smile, Smile, Smile  !!!!!

I love the Lettuce Wraps at PF Changs, so I made my own version of them. Heres the recipe and the nutrition info that i obtained from the nutrition website. I made the turkey last night and it was fantastic!!! I was not able to eat 2 full wraps, but did eat one and a half. Enjoy!!!
