How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
TklMeSkinny replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Morning Everyone! I just had to tell you that I finally got my BODYBUGG last weekend! I've been on it a full 8 days now, and in the first week I lost 3 1/2 lbs!!!!! I'm so totally psyched now! LOL On the flip side, I felt so good about working out, running, and the weight loss, that I overdid it a bit. I lost count doing deep knee bends during a favorite song of mine, and figure I did over 100. And this morning I can't walk! Arghhh! But I will, even if it's for a short walk to loosen my muscles up! To those of you that have been considering a Bodybugg, they are a bit expensive but well worth it! I'm so glad I have mine now! Tkl -
Want to hear another crazy Dr. story?
TklMeSkinny replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree totally! My children are all grown (28, 25, 24), and I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago. After a 12 month 'cycle' they finally decided to just get rid of it rather than keep trying to find out what was wrong. AND, one of the best side affects of my lap band surgery??? Well, since my surgery i've not had one single hot flash! And i was having multiples every day before the surgery! So i'm thinking that the carbs is a definite reason why, but, who knows! I'm happy with that side affect! So, Cookie, and everyone else, if you do have to have a hysterectomy, try to keep your ovaries (I agree with that one!) and remember that you may not have hot flashes during peri-menopause, or menopause! Has anyone else noticed that they are not having their own little heat waves after the surgery? Tkl -
Hi Mac, I do almost the same thing, but i run hard for about 1 - 2 minutes right before my last walk cycle. It adds the time, and really gets the cardio up even higher! My Dr.s office suggested it, and i've only done it a couple of times, so i dont have anything to judge it by to see if it works, but boy oh boy, do i feel the difference! Good luck to all! Tkl
-
But you DID complete the 3.1 miles!! Woo Hoo!!!! I have not done over 2 miles yet, and that was with the walk/jog mix. So, i'm totally impressed that you completed the 5k!!! Time/Shmime! 25 minutes or 55 minutes, it's all good when you COMPLETE what you started out to do! So i'm proud of you!!!!! You Go Girl! YOU Rock!!!!! Tkl
-
Goya, I think you should check with your Dr., first. Mine told me flat out no running or jumping for 30 days after my surgery. Good luck! I'm in week 3 of the C25K, and i'm really enjoying the 'side effects' of running! LOL Tkl

being accused of cheating
TklMeSkinny replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm, kind of not realistic of them I think. For example, in the 'National Smoke Out' days that are done, it's not considered cheating if someone wears a patch to get through the day. Also, you may want to point out that the goal is to lose weight. And even on this year's The Biggest Loser show on TV, they have a man right now who has had the surgery and he's still eligible. They haven't accused him of cheating and have not made him leave the show, either. However, if they still won't allow it, I know you're still The Biggest Loser there! So you win! I hope things get better for you at work. Support is so critical! Good luck! Tkl -

On the website, also, if you create a login (no charge for this) and use the coupon number APBB429 you will get the $50 off, plus another $10, for a total price of $189! I found this out by accident! elyse: i'm sorry you've plateaued, but i'm glad you were able to discover why! i'm going to look back through my stuff and see if i see anything in mine, too. Maybe that can help you to figure out a way to kick-start the wt loss again! Good luck to you! Tkl -
looking for fill Docs in No.Virginia/DC Metro
TklMeSkinny replied to dawner119's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, Im kinda in the same boat. My Dr. no longer takes my insurance, so I need to find someone to do my fills. I work in DC, so if you could send me the info too, i'd appreciate it. Thanks! Tkl -
That's great on the size change! I'm hoping for that kind of result, also. I've already gone form a size 22 to a size 14, with only 46 lbs lost, so i'm pretty sure its the running/walking/exercising that's doing it. I'd like to be in a size 12 by full summer! But we'll see. My first wedding dress in 1980 was a size 14, so i'm already way ahead of anything that i thought i'd accomplish with this surgery! I need to find a 5K in my area now, so that i have that time frame goal to reach! I'll start looking today! Tkl

SuzanneG! Congrats! That's Awesome! I've been running on my own for a few weeks, but just started the C25K last week, and i'm already noticing a difference! Soon i'll be a Graduate, also! ((I wonder if they give out Diplomas for this? :smile2:)) You'll do great in May!!! Tkl

? For those not telling ppl being banded
TklMeSkinny replied to carbgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasnt going to tell anyone either, then decided to tell because someone at work asked me if I was sick. I was loosing weight and they weren't sure why. Everyone in my office has been extremely supportive. It's not a major topic of discussion, but the occassional positive comments have been very helpful! Since my surgery in November, two others in my office have begun the process. So, there is both pros and cons to telling and not telling. Good luck with whichever way you go. And the best of luck with your weight loss! Tkl -
I take the chewable calcium citrate plus D (3 lozenges a day) and the chewable multivitamin (twice a day) and one Biotin. The biotin helps with the Protein absorbtion in a way that can help to minimize or stop hairloss which can be a problem for some. I get mine online from Bariatric Advantage. They are specifically designed for WLS patients and the VitaBand multivitamin is also called the Lap Band Vitamin and was developed for band patients. They also come in flavors which are pretty good. For anyone that's interested, their website is Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, Realize, Stomaphyx and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients Tkl
