I have been struggling with this exact same issue. After years and years of overeating, I don't think I really know what "full" is. I am psychologically wanting to eat more even if I am physically not hungry and that is the hardest thing to get past. I like crzytchr's idea of portion control. I have also started to use a small plate instead of a dinner plate when I eat and that seems to help. I have to remind myself to eat slowly and then I feel satisfied sooner.

I had surgery on Friday 1/26 and went back to work on Wednesday. I could have gone back to work on Monday, but already had coverage for Monday and Tuesday. I am a dental hygienist and sit most of the time. Good Luck

For me, and I know everyone is different, I really had no pain at all. I left the surgery center feeling great, and never took the pain meds that were prescribed. I had slight discomfort from the gas on the second night following my surgery and walked and took the gas-x. This surgery was a walk in the park for me. Good Luck!

Confused and need Advice, PLEASE HELP!
Gemkay replied to WishUponABand's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with hpegg, that you need to have another open conversation with your husband. It is great that he lost 80lbs doing things "his" way, but with a BMI of 50 (mine is close to that and I know how much I need to loose) 80lbs for you seems like it would be just a start. Your husband may be having a hard time expressing his fears about this procedure. He may be afraid that you will have complications, or that when you are successful and get to your goal weight you will no longer be attracted to him. There are many reasons why husbands (and wives) may not be supportive. Ask him honestly what his feelings are. I am sure that he would like to have a healthy, energetic wife around for many, many years, rather than a depressed, unhealthy one. Good Luck -
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be banded in January '09. One of my favorite foods is sushi. I know that everyone is different, but I was interested in finding out how other sushi lovers out there are making out with being banded and swallowing, not only the rice, but the seaweed wraps? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks to all who replied. I know sushi is good for you, high in protien and low in fat!! (unfortunately the rice part = carbs) I wish I could say that is why I love it so much, but it is not....It just tastes so darn good. Best of luck to everyone!

Getting Banded in Mexico....Anyone Else?
Gemkay replied to bunnburner's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My health insurance company will not cover the surgery either. May I ask what the cost is in Mexico? Who does your follow-up and fills? -
Getting Banded in Mexico....Anyone Else?
Gemkay replied to bunnburner's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am having my procedure done in January here in the states. Why do people go to Mexico for this surgery when it is readily available here? Not judging, just asking. Thanks
