How quickly did your diet advance after surgery??
jujuvee replied to mpetterc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe day 14 I was able to eat meats from a can, chicken, tuna and ham. The ones from the can are very moist and I even added a bit of broth to give it a more pureed feel. -
Hi Chris, I too just ran across your into to Lapband talk. Hope you are recovering well.

Do you still measure...
jujuvee replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, never have and hope to never have to. Restless is right this is not a diet. I got the band so that I could get back in tune with my stomach, meaning I wanted the restriction to give me back the feeling of being full and satisfied. Before being banded it took alot of food for me to get full so now that I have the band the restriction sends my brain a message to stop eating. It's been a long time since my brain and stomach worked together. So if I keep my slider foods in check I can usually count on the scale to go down. -
Can't imagine only eating 3 meals a day.
jujuvee replied to PSJ71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 3 months ago and since I am losing weight and staying satisfied the only restriction I have is the band itself. I eat 3 meals a day and maybe 3 nights a week I have a sherbert cup or a piece of chocolate before bed. I can eat a boneless porkchop and not be hungry for 8 hours. I too seriously never thought there would be a day! -
Fat and Rich or Skinny and Poor
jujuvee replied to Jaffa's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Fat and rich all the way because being fat and poor sounds miserable. Oh wait I am fat and poor! Anyway If I have to make a choice I pick fat and rich bcause I want to going out in style! -
Oh that's what I had pre op. One for breakfast one for lunch and chicken or fish with a non starchy vegetable for dinner. Lost 30lbs. But pre op will be over quick enough so stick with doc's plan! Good luck.

What kinds of things can or cant you eat?
jujuvee replied to Dreamjeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nmalak excuse me for being blunt but always drinking my meals sounds misserable! There is lot's of protein you can get in chewable form. Why not add fish to your diet. Other then bread I have not changed what I eat just how much I eat of it. Is it possible for you to do water aerobics? -
I use body fortress vanilla whey protein powder, 1% milk, 1 tbsp peanut butter and 2 tsps of sugar free jello chocolate pudding mix, ice and blend. The pudding mixes become your best friend. Or take the vanilla protein powder and mix it with light oj for an orange julius.

I agree that he thinks he is losing his eating partner and you getting thin and not finding him attractive anymore. My husband is obese and even though he was supportive 90% of the time the other 10% he was hoping I would change my mind. But since being banded he has been on board 100%. He tells me all the time "thank you for saving us" so don't give up I think he's just scared of change. Do take the time to reassure him that you are doing this for the both of you!!! Good luck.

jujuvee replied to Dreamjeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jenzea, I can eat anything except fluffy breads, toasted is fine though. No I do not measure I just stay away from slider foods and let my band tell me when I should stop. So far it's working, later I may need to adjust. Nmalak, there could be many reasons why your not losing, yes one could be that since you don't have that much to lose you may not see big numbers every week. But in my opinion you don't seem to be eating many calories, and if you are off all restrictions then why not consider backing off one of those Protein drinks and have a real meal. Are you hungry? -
I can chime in on this one. I put my scale up 2 wks ago because I too was way to addicted and I let my scale results alter my mood for that day. Also I am 5 pounds from getting out of the 3's and I wanted to see a solid 2?? Next weigh in. Seriously at first I went through major withdraws but currently I feel liberated and just use common sense on what I should and should not eat. Now with that said I do plan on weighing in a couple weeks and after seeing that I am in the 2's(hopefully), I hope that I put it back up because I feel so much better with that monkey off my back. So maybe him hiding it is not such a bad thing, try it, all else fails go out and buy one and find a good hiding spot.

Hey scalaholics, does this happen to you?
jujuvee replied to KartMan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You all are to funny!!! Before I put my scale up I too had morning weigh rituals!!!! I put my scale up 2 weeks ago and the first couple days were tough, almost like withdraws, but each day did get easier and I still have not weighed. My plan is to wait until July 8th before dinner with the hubby(date night) he doesen't get a day off until then that's why I called it date night! It has been a liberating feeling to not be chained to the scale. Now once I bring it out and see that I'm no longer in the 3's who knows weather I have it in me to put it back up. I'll let you know. Until then weigh on my friends!!!!! -
Personally I don't believe in forbidden foods, I'm very aware of my serving amounts and what my band will or will not tolerate but if I'm in the mood for fruity pebbles that I eat it without guilt. It's not what I was eating that got me in this mess it was the quantity. So just my opinion but enjoy your life cereal!

Will the skin elastisize back?
jujuvee replied to hollyluke73's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Removing excess skin is cosmetic but it can also be medically necessary if you are having issues such as skin irritations, tears in the skin or back problems. So remember to to tell your doc if you are having any problems and keep documentation. -
Losing without exercise????
jujuvee replied to mom2trips06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I started at such a high weight on surgery day 344, I probably could have gotten away with loosing for a while regardless of exercise but I jumped off the surgical table ready with an exercising plan. For the last 2.5 months I have walked 2.5 miles 3 times a week and for the last 2 weeks I have added a 1 mile jog 3 times a week. And what Jachut said is true, you make time to exercise or your frustrated. I never thought there would be a time when I would look forward to jogging. And since I am losing weight at a good pace,( most likely due to the exrecise) my doc's not ready to give me my first fill. Last week at 304 I decided to put my scale in the closet because I really want to see the scale say 2?? . That will be a big day for me. But in the meantime I got a lot of miles to log so I'm off for a walk!!!! -
I'll be the first in this forum to say I went against the magic bullet. I did look at them but I just could not see myself needing 17 pieces, so I bought a cusinart immersion stick blender. 2 pieces and just like the bullet it's an easy clean makes great protein shakes and purees. Takes up no space and is very heavy duty. But for what it's worth I also have issues with clutter but we'll save that for my therapist

Highest weight? or weight at surgery?
jujuvee replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
373 at start of pre op 344 on surgery day 304 as of last week I put my scale up for a couple weeks because I really want to see the 2's next weigh in. At one point in life I was 405 got down to 267 and obviously was heading back to 400. As far as excess skin, without a doubt I will have plenty. I am 5'10 but have bat wings, what I call hot dog buns on my upper legs and an apron! Oh well, one thing at a time. -
I make something almost like this but I use fat free blue cheese instead of mayo and franks hot sauce instead of worshishire sauce!

Wow, I'm almost 3 months in and still no fill. Since I am losing and still staying satisfied on small portions my surgeon is not suggesting a fill at this time, my next appointment is in 6 weeks and we'll just go from there. I feel great and I am 5 lbs from getting out of the 3's. I decided to put my scale up for a couple weeks because I want to be in the 2's next time I weigh.... this is a really big deal for me!! I have many non scale victories and they are equally as important, one that really makes me happy is that I am seeing body parts that I haven't seen in years... and you know what I'm talking about  Also I am wogging, what is wogging you say, well it's in between a walk and a jog and I am wogging a mile without stopping and it feels great. I'm also very excited that my husband has been on the plan with me, minus the band. He also has a weight issue and even though we are tackling this in different ways we are doing it together and that is all that matters.

Ibelloso it really depends on what I am eating. If it's chicken I eat half a bonless skinless breast and a vegetable. So usually I stick to a cup, cup and a half for a meal but honestly every meal is different. A typical day would look like this. Breakfast: oat meal pack or granola cereal lunch: half a toasted pannini and a salad dinner: chicken, vegetable or cassarole and side salad snack: sherbert cup or popcorn At this point I can eat anything with the exception of fluffy bread. It must be toasted. Hope this helped and feel free to ask me anything.

Hey Jason, you're doing amazing and all this hard work will just make the transition into being banded even easier.
I weighed 373 at pre op and 3 weeks later on surgery day I was at 344, now almost 3 months post op I am 305 and that's without a fill. I can't imagine how quickly your numbers will drop with your discipline!!!
keep us informed.

jujuvee - you sound super restrained if you can do one kiss! wow! though i don't really think hershey's is chocolate. try some real chocolate, lots of other countries make better chocolate ,and especially with higher % cocoa, you get less fat and sugar.... i do have a weak spot for hershey's, but i would call them candy. Yes I agree that I need to look into a better quality chocolate, thanks for the reminder. There's so much good stuff out there and I'm excited to test it!
