  1. I just hate it when people compare their fill amount...I mean I lost 100 lbs with no fill so right now my mind is saying that I might be able to reach goal on one fill... now that may not be true but mentally I'm in the right place!

people freak out and say well I need more or when they get close to their top amount they assume that it's not working for them... who needs the head games.

so how many cc's ya got... just kidding. Have a great week :0)

    No fill ever??

I had my surgery in March and just got my first fill 2 weeks ago, up untill last month I had good restriction, lost 70lbs. There is definately a mental aspect to it as well. When I got my fill I told my surgeon not to tell me how much he was putting in.. Again this is also something that can be mental, I see people focus too much on the amount if their fill and comparing it to other bandsters fills and I just don't want to put myself through that.

    2 week check up

Had my 2 week check up and could not wait to get on the scale to be weighed,(imagine that) New weight 331, that's 14 pounds lost since surgery and total 42 if you include pre op loss. Surgeon checked my incision and reminded me that my port had to be put in deeper then usual due to a thick abdomen, he says this had nothing to do with my weight some people just have thicker bellies. He is hoping that he can do my fills in his office if not I will have to have them done in the hospital under xray. Next stop the dietitian and she wanted to know what I had been eating and if I had stuck to full liquids for the first 14 days, yes I did! Now I am on mushies and am so happy to have canned chicken there is a variety of foods that I can have during this phase and I am looking forward to it. My fill is not until May 14 but that's ok because so far I have been able to go close to 5 hours without getting hungry and the 3 oz amount really fills me up! Now I know that I have the lapband and not the realize band and my band is empty so maybe it's mental or maybe just having the band around my stomach is doing something to help satisfy me....whatever it is I am digging it. I must say that this has been a great experience and I am glad I made this big decision to change!

    Coming Back

Hey Joe.... Getting back on track with the band is sure a heck of a lot eassier then without. I start off every morning with a protein drink or oatmeal with protein powder mixed in and lunch is usually a chicken wrap or shredded bbq chicken in a pita and dinner might be a small piece of meatloaf with brocolli. I don't concentrate on calories but I do make exercise a priority, 4 times a week. I only weigh once every 2 weeks and in between meals if I think I'm hungry but not sure if it's real hunger or head hunger I drink a cup of chcken broth and more times then not it keeps me from snacking in between meals...I'm not perfect but I'm determined. One other thing... Don't feel guilty for falling off plan. Guilt leads to giving up.. So if you have a bad meal just turn around and fix it. If you really want that piece of chocolate eat it and enjoy the heck out of it... But never feel guilty about it.. Good luck and feel free to pm me anytime...

when do you get 1st fill

We're all different. I was banded March 24th 2009 and I have the same band size as you. Just got my first fill last week. I had good restriction from just my empty band up unfill a few weeks ago. So you might not need one right away, if you're loosing don't fix what's not broke!

Been there too.... Pre op weight 374 on March 24th 2009. Just got my first fill last week. Current weight 269!! Love, Love, Love my band and new lifestyle...

    Clothing Question

Try goodwill, I am going to Mexico on December and I have been thrift shopping to gather outfits. I too didn't know what size to buy when all the summer clother were still out and on top of that I didn't want to pay a lot for something I would not be wearing next summer.

    Still going strong!

I haven't done an update in a while so here you go. It's been 5 months since my band was put in and I'm thrilled with my results. I started this journey at 374 pounds at preop and I am now at 280. I still have great restriction... if I stick with the right foods and I have not needed a fill yet! I am currently taking a hiatus from LapbandTalk so I can focus on me. I have challenged myself with my walking, in July I walked 50 miles and I just finished up 60 miles for August. I'm still a work in progress, I have a food addiction and that's something that may never go away but I am learning how to manage it. Thanks for reading and I will check in soon!

Good job on the weight loss, 2 lbs a week is great, but are you eating solid foods such as chicken breast, or all soft or liquids? If you cannot eat solids maybe you didn't need a fill. Are you still severly restricted? High protein would be meat and dairy products, these would qualify, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, lean meats. I will try and locate your profile maybe the site was squirley last night.

    Still going strong!

hi Trevajane. for the most part losing weight is pretty black and white, we're either eating too many calories or not enough. I don't count calories but I do credit some of my success on being a planner. I have a meal planner that I fill out for the week which allows me to plan not only my meals but makes my trip to the grocery more productive. Being that we are addicts we really need to plan ahead to take the impulsive guess work out of the picture because that's when we make bad choices. So may I sugest that you sit down and make out a menu for a week, and stick it to the refrigerator and stay on plan. My menu changes but I continue to start off my morning with a protein drink, I don't snack between meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day. now... not losing weight for a week is normal, it's going to happen. I was not able to view your profile so I don't know anything about you but I have been the same weight for 2 weeks and it just happens. our body's are going through major changes and we should not worry about a stall in weight loss from time to time. So relax and if you think that you are eating enough calories but not over doing it then in time you will see the scale move.... but don't forget those non scale victories I can barely keep my pants up and to me that's a priceless good luck!

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

Hi group, sounds like everyone is doing fantastic. I have been very busy and haven't logged on to lapband talk at all this week, I have been keeping up with my miles but I find that with my full time, part time and a couple buddies that my nutritionist has me buddied up with to help them create healthier habits I have been swamped and drained... but in a good way. I have decided to take a hiatus from lapband talk for a while to concentrate on the above mentioned projects but want to thank the thread starter for lighting a fire under my (well you know) and challenging me to not just making goals but sticking with them. I wish you all the best of luck!!!! Julie

To eat or not to eat???

I try not to eat if I'm not hungry, I actually love that hungry belly growl. Before surgery I could not tell you the last time I was hungry because I was always eating!! Now I try not to snack and wait until my scheduled meal time. I don't always accomplish that but when I do It is a good feeling!!!!

To Fill or Not to Fill?

Heidib, what is your eating and exercise plan and how much more weight do you want to lose?
  17. I had surgery in March and I have not had a fill, I lost 30 on pre op and 64 since. As long as I stay away from silider foods I have great restriction and won't get a fill until I stop losing.
  18. Hey your welcome!!!! this is my thoughts on fills people think that a fill is like some rite of passage I mean think about it doctors schedule the first one 4-6 weeks out from surgery, they're cashing in big time on this ,most of us are still on soft foods so of course we're hungry the food is just sliding through, mashed potatoes and applesauce is not going to fill us up.

My surgeon said he wanted me to challenge my band not baby it and he says how great if you're losing a pound or two a week and still eating the foods you love

Would getting a fill speed up weight loss... probably but I for one will not live off of slider foods because that's all I could get down...

So I try and focus on chicken breast fish, pork chops hard boiled eggs and stuff like that and I walk 2.5 miles every day.

At some point I will need a fill but for now I am enjoying the ride.

I will send my email in a private message use it anytime!!!!!

    I

  19. I say if you cheating by eating foods that slip through, chips, cookies or ice cream then don't get a fill because it won't help. But if you are seeing that you can eat a larger amount of solid foods then I vote yes on getting a fill. For the record I have not had a fill yet and so this is not an area I have much knowledge in.

    Change in Period/ Menst. cycle

I have been an every 28 days cycle forever and this is the first month since my surgery in March that is seems to be getting back on track. Also noticing my hair loss is slowing down. It all makes sense, surgery is a major shock to our systems.

    The "F" word

I hate the term morbidly obese.....And if overweight people have to pay more then so should smokers and breeders!

    Is this weird?

Bigpapa this is a great idea, sometimes it's eassier to see where you need to be rather then where you been! I think soneone can get complacent and loose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. So knock out these last 50 lbs like your a fresh out of the box bandster Go for it!!!!!!!!!!
  23. jujuvee

How often do you weigh in?

My scale has been put up for 2 weeks and I don't even care, I'm eating healthy and walking 2.5 miles a day and I feel great. So I'm just going to kick back and enjoy the ride. I have a doc appt next week so I'll update my ticker then.

To Fill or Not to Fill?

If I stay true to my plan I eat about 1.5-2 cups of food and don't snach. Breakfast- oatmeal with Protein Powder and fruit or 1 egg omelet w/ meat&cheese and fruit or Protein Drink lunch- pita pocket stuffed with shredded bbq chicken or a recipe of chicken, feta cheese, red onion and cilantro. Dinner- turkey burgers/ turkey meat loaf, oven fried chicken, roast, pork chops and a vegetable side. If I allow a snack it is only before bed and it will be sherbert or air popped pop corn with smart balance butter blend. Exercise if I am real good is 2.5 mile walk a day.
