second day on liquid diet, I am really struggling!
Mr.Mike replied to Connie1968's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Connie, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!! I cant stress that enough. Get away from the comfort zone where you keep your food. You have to change your routine and you can beat this. Truthfully it doesnt go away but it gets a little easier as the days go by. Remember you are basicaly starving your body from the thousands of calories you used to eat so its going through withdrawels. If I am occupied its not really that bad and I can eat a cow at every sitting believe me. Drink water, drink water, drink water!! I have been drinking powder mixes with water to offset my cravings for sugar. I am on my second week and have 3 days left before surgery and can honestly say I havent cheated. I have come very close but keep telling myself I can do this and this is the right thing for me to be here longer for my family. -

Where Decembers Bandsters?

Being banded Dec 3rd in Ridewood N.J. The Center For Obesity Surgery at The Valley Hospital. Dr Daniel Davis. Did 1st week of pre-op with 2 shakes 1 meal a day. Started my liquid diet the day before Thanksgiving. I was given clearance by my doctor to eat lightly for the holiday. I did not gain any weight because of it either. I ate lots of turkey and veggies. That was it. -

Did you tell others about surgery?
Mr.Mike replied to annecolorgreen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My banding date is Dec 3rd. I was one step short of putting this on the news. I told everyone I associate with. I am proud of what I am doing and that I am going to change my life for the better. I also used this to my advantage. I surrounded myself with all the positive reactions and use these people as my support group. Sure there was negativity and worries but thats from people who dont understand the procedure or even me for that matter. I am at a point where we need more positive feedback than negative. Its a rough road getting to surgery and your mind goes through rollercoasters of emotions so I will take all the help I can get. Everyone is different and has their own reasons for telling or not telling people. I respect both and commend everyone for taking the steps to have a better and healthier life. Good luck to all!!! -
My surgery is Dec 3rd. I have been on preop diet for 1 week. I was having a Protein shake for breakfast, a piece of fruit between, then another drink for lunch or some plain tuna, then another piece of fruit between lunch and dinner. For dinner I usually had a small meal with either a piece of chicken, fish or very lean meat. With it I had 2 veggies and of course alot of fluids. I will tell you that after the first morning I wanted to kill and would have eaten my left arm if it wouldnt hurt. It was hard until the 3rd day and then I just got used to it I guess. I am hungry but not crazy hungry. I was going to call my doctor and beg him to let me eat more food but I held out. I wanted to be strong about it because I know its the start of my new life and its a change we have to make. We are all doing this for the same reasons. We all have the same problem with food and have to learn to live a different life for our prolonged life. I start my all liquid diet tomorrow for the last wek before my date and I am sure it will be rocky but I will do this!!! Thank god I found this site or I dont know if I could handle this alone. I have great support with my wife and kids but reading these stories and talking to people who are experiencing all the same things is beneficial. It takes the edge off. I wish everyone good luck and just keep believing you can do this!!

I've finally found a protien drink that tastes great!!
Mr.Mike replied to canadiangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Folks I found a Protein drink called SPIRU-TEIN which is available at any Vitamin Shoppe in any mall or even online. It cost me 18.00 per 1.15 lb container. I have to be honest I absolutely hate the taste of protein drinks and the smell but this one is the bomb! I have 8oz of skim with 1 scoop for Breakfast and another for lunch. I mix it in my best friend the magic bullet and I leave it in longer to make it thick. I feel like I am drinking a milkshake. I was told I could have Slimfast but I can't stomach the taste. I bought chocolate and Cookies and cream and they are both great. They have so many other flavors but I went with my obvious flavors I like. I am picking up a couple more this weekend. Based on 2000 calorie diet the cookies and cream mix contains 200 calories 0.5g fat o cholesterol 150mg sodium 190g potassium 15g carbs 14g protein The Vitamins are so high, most are 100% or more of your daily suppliment. The chocolate mix has even less calories and carbs but I cant cut out anymore. I am just making it now without feeling ill. I don't work for or own stock in this company but I love their product. My sister runs marathons and she told me about it and when I went for my psych evaluation I found out that the Dr had gastric bypass and used the same product because of the good flavor. This is just my personal feeling and whats been helping me get into my 4th day and now 11.5 lbs lighter. I just wanted to pass this along to try and help because so many posts on this board good and bad have helped me understand all of this. I dont think I had enough backup in doing this without everyone here. -
I am starting my 3rd day of pre op diet and I've lost 8.5 lbs. I called my doctors office yesterday because I am very tired and weak and my sugar has been dropping. I am also eating 1000 calories a day. Wow what a change.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I am finally getting banded on December 3rd and cant wait. I say finally because I was turned down before by my insurance company but my wifes insurance is covering it thank god. I wont lie, I am a little scared but I think I can handle it. Today was my first day of my Pre-op diet and so far my wife is still with me and my kids haven't run away, but I can tell you everyone is keeping their distance:w00t:. Its been hard and I felt horrible all day like I was having withdrawels and very tired but I have set my mind to this and I have alot of support starting right here at home. I am sure I am not the only on this ride. I am getting banded at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood N.J. by Dr Daniel Davis.

Getting my call from the doctors office was very exciting but then fear set in almost immediately because it was all becoming a reality. Doc tells me its normal to feel this way. Just step back and take a deep breath after all this is what I really want. I am getting banded on December 3rd and started my 1st day of pre-op today and its been very tough I will admit. My wife and kids are still here so I must have behaved... anyway, my doctor gave me the ok to eat some food on thanksgiving but told me not to go overboard. Eventhough he said its ok I am going to be extremely careful because once I start it will be hard to stop. Good luck to everyone.
