Am I the only one not happy with my surgeon's office
dillon1205 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I went to the free weight loss clinic back in November I really liked the people from Dr.Enoch's office. Then when I went for my first visit I felt they only want your money. I went through all of the tests, work ups, so on and when his office filled my insurance in december it was denied. That was ok I was prepared for it. What I was not prepared for was that his office doesn't help much(other than print outs)with the appeal process. It is all on you. Well long story short i won my appeal and I am schedule for surgery next week. I went to their office this week for a pre-op appt and realized that I just do not like the people there. When I arrived I walked to the window she didnt even look at me then she said " I need your copay" I told her i didnt have one she typed on the computer, handed me a paper and then i sat down. Am I going to have to deal with this for every fill........... -
I had my surgery 3/13/09 and I have lost 57lbs. I am very excited about my weight loss but very scared it will slow down. My surgeon tells me to only expect to loose 80-100lbs the first year. But to me that just doesnt seem right. If i have lost 57lbs in 4 months am I only expected to loose 23-43lbs over the next 8 months. Well no matter how I loose it I am just happy it is coming off. I was also wondering how many cc everyone has in their bands. I am alreay at 11cc in my 14 cc band but it seems to be workin gfor me so far.

Can the psychologist stop you from getting the band?
dillon1205 replied to talkalot1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also bi-polar and had issues getting the band. My psychiatrist's first letter to the insurance company was all about my bi-polar and not enough about my weight issues and ability to follow through with the life style of the band. I was denied when we turned in all of my paper work to insurance b/c of the psych review. He wrote another review and it was denied a 2nd time. I had to appeal the decision and make sure I showed the insurance company I had it together enough to have this surgery. My psych also wrote me another letter to go along with mine. I submitted the appeal and 30 days later I was approved. That was the best feeling in the world. Just remember even if you do get denied keep fighting it until you win. NO ONE knows you better than yourself. write the best letter make the insurance company feel like if they do not approve you the would be making a horrible decision than would ruin your chance at a great healthy life. -

I am down 1.5 lbs. I just went in this morning for my first fill. I hope my weight loss will speed up now. -
I was wondering if anyone know which insurance company cares a policy that includes obesity surgery. I was banded on friday and now my best friend really wants to get banded. she is not insured and has been shopping around to find a carrier that includes obesity surgery in their self insured policy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

fruity protein drink? any advice
dillon1205 replied to misslonglegs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you should try the Isopure drinks. They are no carbs, no sugar, and 40g of protein. They kind of taste like vitamin water. you can get them at GNC. -
"Shrinko De Mayo" Weight Loss Challenge
dillon1205 replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please count me in. My goal is to loose 15lbs 5-5-09. I have already lost 20 just 12 days out from surgery but I expect that to slow once I can eat "real food". To be down 35lbs would be awesome! -
I am just wondering if I am the only one who is not hungry at all. It is almost like I am scared to eat or something. I am only on full liquids but I am just getting in 400 calories a day if I am lucky. It is kind of like it isn't even on my mind. I hope I am not the only one. Thanks for any advise. Lucky Losers!

WOW you have lost 50 lbs in under 3 months that is amazing. I hope I am on the same track you are on. I am so thankful for my band also and my "new life" ahead of me.

Wow 13.7 in 5 days. I weighed myself 7 days out and I had lost 12 lbs. I go to the dr tomorrow for my post op so I will get an official number then. I just dont really trust home scales. I am a single mom and I have to feed my son. That is the only reason I even think about food and he is the one who has to ask me..haha. It is kind of weird I feel like I have done so well on liquids that I am scared to eat for with substance even if it is soup.

"Lucky Losers" (March 2009 banders)
dillon1205 replied to KarenInOhio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have really enjoyed reading everyone story so i thought I would share my surgery story... My surgery was friday 3/13/09. It was scheduled for 11:05 and my arrival at 9. I was in the shower friday morning and the phone rang about 8 and asked if i could come early. So I rushed and got out the door. They ended up taking me back to surgery at 10:20. The male nurse told me he was just going to give me some oxygen. I remember that and then I remember waking up in the recovery room. The pain I would say was a 6. And I was very nauseated. they gave me so much anti-nasuea meds that i maxed out. My surgeon came into see me in the 1st recovery room and said that all went well. And that he told all the details to my mom. I was in the 1st recovery for about 2 hours. I then went to the 2nd recovery room and was in there for about 30 mins before they brought my mom back. My mom said that the surgeon came and discussed with her that this surgery was a great thing I had done. He said that my live was looking pretty bad. He already diagnosed me with NASH and he said he could really see it once he saw my liver. All in all the hospital stay was good. I was there from 8.30-4.20. I am guessing i was there a little longer b/c of the nausea. after I got home I was having the worst back pains I have ever had. I called the surgeons office and they thought they were back spasms. I used a heating pad and that helped with the back pain. sleeping was pretty much a just when the pain meds were working type thing the first 2 day. The back pain subsided and I started feeling better.I tried to go to the grocery store Sunday afternoon to get some Jello and juice about 10 mins after being there i realized that was a bad idea. On Sunday evening I was feeling 90% better. Doing dishes and folding some laundry. This morning I was feeling even better and went into work for a few hours. When I got home from work today I decided to do some more laundry. when I reached down in the basket I felt some thing pop under my scar, port site. I called the doc on call and he said he think it may of just been a stitch but they would know for sure when I go in for my post op appt. And if it moved at all they could do a ultasound to know for sure. Other than that minor drama it has gone well and I would do it all over again. I am feeling a little hungry but I just drink 6 oz of juice and that goes away. Thanks for reading my surgery story and I hope to read yours too. Lucky Losers! -
I am just wondering.....does everyone have this feeling that you are so full. My stomach is so swollen. I am on a Clear liquids only diet and I feel like I am eating to much. Today I had 4oz sugar free Jello, 12 oz Water, 5 oz chic broth, and 3 oz diet v-8 fusion. Is it just in my head that I am eating to much? But at the same time I want to make sure I do not get dehydrated. Any advise would help. I was banded on friday and just want to make sure what I am feeling is normal. Lucky Loser!

5 day post-op dry gas heaving...
dillon1205 replied to mom2twoboysinfl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing that I have found helps me with my gas pains is a heating pad. I put it on my shoulder or back where ever the pain is really bad. Like others have said the gas-x hasnt really been to much help but if i take 2 at a time it helps alittle. also the more I am up and around the house the better the gas pains are. Lucky Losers!!! -
Thanks everyone. I am glad that I am not alone. When I figured the amount of calories I am getting it is only like 300 today. Other ideas that I am really likeing are crystal light hunger satisfaction (has 3g protein), special k Water mixer (has 5g protein). But the crystal light banana strawberry is so so good. Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
dillon1205 replied to gabi311b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mimi, I was also banded on friday. How is your pain level. And are you bloated feeling. I am about a 3 on the pain level today and feeling very bloated. I would like to have a buddy who was banded on the same day if you are interested. Good luck! Lucky Losers! -
I was banded yesterday and the surgery went good. My only complaint is severe back pain. I called the surgeon on call and they say it may be muscle spasms. What can I do. I am putting a heating pad on it for about 30 mins at a time and the pain is down from a 8 to a 7-6 but it still really hurts. The pain meds really just dull the pain for an hour or so. Any ideas??? lucky losers!

Thanks for all of your advise. My back pain is gone. The heating pad really helped. I am feeling so much better today. I thought I could not take my pain meds and go to the grocery store for some juice and Jello. WOW that was not a good idea. My stomach now feels really swollen. But if with this pain it is still better than yesterday and friday! lucky losers!

Thanks, I will try and call him back tomorrow if it is not feeling any better.
