real difference between Realize band and LapBand?
TeraDN posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trying to decide which band to go with. From what I gather the realize can hold more fill, but it takes longer to get to restriction. So I am leaning towards the LapBand. Which did you go with and why? -

TY! I think I will go for the LapBand AP. Seems to work for smaller heavy people, so I will go with that. I weigh 249 or so give or take 5 lbs, but I wear an 18/20. My sister is 206 and we wear the same size, go figure. Anyway, off topic, I know. Thanks again.... -
ok so odd twist: on the pre auth form it says "enrolled in preop and post op behavioral health, nutrition and medical management program" So I called to see how long, 3-6 months. Anyway the pre auth dept said it was up to my bariatric surgeon to determine if I need to do it or not..... so why put it on the pre auth as if it was a criteria requirement? I talked to the doc and my bmi is high enough to skip it. plus they have a very thourgh program there. Scared to believe them, lol.

ok so I am also set up with O'Keef for the behavior/nutrition requirement for insurance. My psych eval is first week of April. What all is involved in that?

TY I did a search and there are old posts for it. Looks fairly cut and dry so tomorro0w I will call the lap doc and see where we are at with the gp rec letter and past weights stuff. I still need to do the pysch eval, so I will set that up.

BIG Embarassing Moments - Fuel for Success

My 7 yr old taking a length of string and trying to squish down his belly. I asked him what he was doing, and he said he was trying to make his tummy look like mine. He was trying to give himself fat rolls...... I know I have to do something.:huh2: -
Hi! My name is Tera, I am a nurse and SAHM to 3 boys. I am just starting the process to get banded. I am currently 245, 5'1 and looking to get to 150 or better. Going to Dr. Chock at NWWL in Washington. I am here to get info on life after banding. So afraid that I will fail at this as well. But I gotta try something. Its getting out if control.

Oh I get that it isnt a quick fix.I perfer a slow, steady weight loss due to better adjustment system wise and its just a healthier loss. I eat balanced, portioned meals, exercise pretty regularly, no known metabolic issues, though I do have pcos. It seems after I had my 3rd son, things just arent working. I have cared for post op RNY/ gastric bypass patients before and I feel that it is far too extreme for me. I just need that incentive to make a better choice. I have to vs well I can chose too. I know if I have truly uncomfortable consequences, that I will make the right choice to avoid the ickies. Going thru my insurance, BCBS of MA, their criteria looks to be fairly easy and straight forward. Dr.Chock seems very cool and the nursing staff were very informative and helpful. If insurance pays for the surgery, do they cover the fills as well?
