Where to start... I'm 23 years old and I've been overweight since I was a teenager. It started gradually and sort of escelated over tte past 5 years until I reached 361lbs.. My husband and I had lost 3 children due to misscarrage and my husband was searching the internet to obtain more info on what causes misscarraige etc. he stumbled across an article about pregnancy and obesity and the lap-band. he had me look at the article and we both decided the lap-band would be a good option for me. so I started searching for Sergeons in my area an came across Malley Surgicle weight loss center. My husband an I went to one of the seminars that Dr. hitchcock was speaking at and I decided right then that I wanted him to be my sergeon he was very informitive and was a friendly person. So the process started back in May when I selected an insurance company through my work that I knew covered the procedure and I went to the appointment for the nutritionist and psyciotrist and wrote out all the different ways I had tried to lose weight in the past and the Lady at Malley surgicle submitted everything to my insurance company and I was approved within about a month. We scheduled surgery for august the 3rd which has sentimental value for me, it is the 7 year anniversary of my first date with my husband :) it all seemed so sureal like it was too good to be true I just couldn't imagine me ever acctually loseing all this weight.. I started to really get excited about 4 weeks before the surgery and then another misfortunate event put things on the back burner, I found out about 3 weeks prior to surgery date that I had a tubal pregnancy andI had to treat it before it became life threatening.. I was crushed, this was not only my 4th misscarraige but it could potentially postpone the surgery I had worked so hard to get and had been looking forward to for so long...  after numerouse trips to the Doctor and ER and D&C and Shots and blood work everything felt hopeless, my body was worn out and I was emotionally and mentally frazled.. I finally got good news about a week before the 3rd that all my doctors agreed it was safe to proceed with surgery as planned I was exstatic it seemed things were finally going my way. the night before surgery I had a total meltdown, My brother was killed in Iraq in January and my grandmother had passed away from cancer a few months before that so I have a bit of an issue with death and I was convinced I was going to die on the table because nothing good could possibly happen after the year I had been through. my husband stayed up with me an held me and kept telling me nothing was going to happen but I didn't belive him because I just knew I would not make it.. The day of surgery I was better I had managed to push the fear out of my head all the way up until the point where I gave my husband a kiss and they rolled me to the OR then I freaked out. The anisthesiologist and Dr. Hitchcock were awsome they held my hand and told me everything would be fine and then I was asleep. I was suprised when I woke up and they told me everything went perfect and I was all done. I got to go home about an hour later and I was feeling great. I'm 4 days post op now and I still can't belive how easy it was, I'm still a little dumbfounded  I mean I feel like I had a strenuouse work out not major surgery lol I have hardly any pain and am able to walk around and I got back to work monday, it's incredible! I can't explain how happy I am its beyond words I can't wait to start working out and dropping weight and being able ot eat ANYTHING other than Jello lol I've grown to hate the stuff. I guess all in all my experience was very smoothe and easy Kinda boring probobly lol. I lost about 25lbs with the pre-op diet and I'm hoping to have lost another 25 by christmas :) if you have been considering lap-band but are not sure I would suggest going to a seminar and doing alot of research.  From experience I can tell you it's the best decision I have ever made.
