Think mine is more from the vitamin supplements and other chewables I have to take. At least that lizard breath I had, the kind that could melt lead, is gone. But, yes, my taste buds are all whacko right now, too.

Protein, Calories and Carbs.
BobBayCityMI replied to wayupnorth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it is because I am still on full liquids. Limited on how much I can have. But I am walking 1.5 to 2 miles daily, so that takes care of keeping the metabolism up ( a bit!) -
Admittedly, I am the oddity here having had my surgery done in Flint, MI. But welcome anyway! Good group, lots of knowledge, and the sleeve has been very, very good to me. Best of luck.

Luv is done luving food!
BobBayCityMI replied to luvinitcuzican's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh, I will never stop loving food. What I will do is look at my portions a whole new way. I have always eaten well, believe it or not, but it has always been a portion issue with me. If one is good, three must be better! As far as diabetes, I was pre (6.5), so I hope I am dodging a bullet. -
Belly button question - Sorry, kind of gross!
BobBayCityMI replied to *susan*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You silly girl! Get it checked out ASAP! it's your belly button....small jump to the innards. Had a 7th grader once who could not sit down at her seat. She had pierced her belly button for ornamentation and it was majorly infected. Called her mom. Her mom told me, "Oh, I know. I helped her do it." Long story short...infection jumped into the belly area. Not pretty... -
After two weeks on my liquid diet, and one week post-op, I am down 34 pounds. Blood pressure was 119/67 so my doc took me off my hypertension med, Benicar. Slight problem with lower intestinal gas, but Gas X eliminated it. I have had no acid problems, no reflux, and no pain. I am truly blessed and wanted to share the good news. On another note...has anyone heard from Ange from down under? Her surgery was earlier this week but have not heard a peep.

I am averaging 80 grams of protein per day and making my water quota easily. I am still on the full liquids, which may answer some of those questions. I start mushies next week, and I am hopeful that will help spur some more energy.

I am hyper sensitive to any "different" feeling that happens right now. But I am glad to know that you're ok...very scary to think, oh, crap, something broke...

home and gassy! STILL
BobBayCityMI replied to dange25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There you are! Phew! Am glad you are back to us. So you have a gas problem? I have been accused of that also, but it had nothing to do with surgery. Hey, I'm a guy. Pull my finger and surprise! Am glad to see you posting :lol0: -
Something Else is Missing...
BobBayCityMI replied to I Can and I Will's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a long way to go before I have those feelings. Right now, with the focus so much on what I can eat and being so careful post surgically, I would bet in a month or so I will begin to feel that burden ease as well. -
Surgery tomorrow!!!!
BobBayCityMI replied to Nanna509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great news! I posted some things about hospital stay stuff. I hope that all goes well and look forward to seeing you on the sleeved side. -
Protein, Calories and Carbs.
BobBayCityMI replied to wayupnorth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh...ok. I drink the light soy and the label says it has 10. Then again, I am still full liquids and was told to use it. Maybe the carb situation is not a priority for me yet. Jumping the gun a bit! -
Protein, Calories and Carbs.
BobBayCityMI replied to wayupnorth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How in the heck do you stay under 30 grams of carbs per day? One glass of soy milk has 10; fat free milk has 13. Even sugar free yogurt has over 10 for a potion size. Aren't there good and not such good carbs? -
6 Month Check up.....
BobBayCityMI replied to Chancie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was told that I will lose about an inch per pound in my measurements. I hope that's true! Good job, Chancie! I am looking for such positive results at my 6 month as well! -
How ya doing? Other than being tired, I am feeling better. Eating very soft foods (cottage cheese, cream of wheat) and protein shakes. Even went for a walk yesterday! Yeah! And I had a BM (gross, I know, but significant!). Hope you're doing good!

Realistically.. what should I expect?
BobBayCityMI replied to CherryG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a guy, and the truth is I will lose faster. Plus starting at 380+ pounds, I have 140 I want to shed. All I know is I want the weight to come off and leave me as a healthier, more physically happy individual. Even a pound lost is better than one added! Good luck. -
Of course, you have my best thoughts and prayers heading your way. Looking forward to seeing you after joining my on the Sleeved Side!

I just got a Magic Bullet type mixer at JC Penney. End cost will be about $21.00 (there is a $10 rebate). Look very similar and works nicely. Knew that many like to use the mini mixers and thought I should pass this along.

Will post more later, but I am home. Things went very well. I am sore (ya' think?), but it is more than manageable with the meds. And a hospital is NO place to get rest! Lordie. Slept two hours today already. Still getting used to that odd feeling when what I swallow hits my new belly. More updates to follow.

I hate medical tape. Deplore it. Caused my more pain than any of my incisions. They should have told me to shave certain areas, like the inside of my arms, the backs on my hands, and the inside of my thighs. The Foley coming out was, well, an odd feeling, but the tape removal was down right brutal. I have bruises not from the incision, but from the damn tape. Ouch. Yeow. Holy crap. Now I know what you ladies go through if you're waxed. You are all sick puppies!

Advice to those to be sleeved
BobBayCityMI replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, Susan, just had to express my suggestions for a more comfy hospital trip! :lol0: Honestly, those little things, sans the sick "waxing," made for a more tolerable couple of days. The best nurse I had was an old school nurse. She took care of the creature comforts such as a little paper trash place hung from my tray; the cool, wet towel; removing my leg compressors and allowing them to breath and just washing my legs off for me; found me a couple of fresh pillows; and being the first one to go scrounge up a SF Popsicle for me. Never thought orange would taste as good as a fine chocolate! -
Advice to those to be sleeved
BobBayCityMI replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Am doing well overall. Even had a slight smidgen of cream soup this evening. Tough to get all the protein in they ask me to. Sleeping soundly and for long stretches. Guess I had more done than I thought! -
Expectations during liq pre op diet???
BobBayCityMI replied to attitudefree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After three days my caffeine headaches went away. No problems since. Glad that I flushed it out before my surgery not battling it afterwards.
