    first time barfing...

I have thrown up three times. Once with doughy bread, once with green beans when the skins were too rough, and once with broccoli. But it came up easy and was a lot better than the damn sliming I had for quite a while. I think you answered why you did throw up...nighttime scarfing of leftovers. Was this emotional eating? Habit eating? Eating to eat? Sounds like some of my old habits. Then I bet you went back to bed. The food will not go down that way. I agree that it maybe even did not make it to the stomach. Take it as a lesson learned and maybe monitor yourself the next time the urge to eat at 2 a.m. appears. I know I still struggle with not getting up to eat. It is an old, ingrained habit.

Emarrassing gas problem on a regular basis

Now this is a topic I can relate to! My butt loves to flutter more regularly than it did before the surgery, but am blessed it is non-toxic. If I am eating right, more butt burps happen; it is just fact of my life. Like everything else with this sleeve and all the changes, I go through phases and know that this too shall pass. Well, maybe it will, both literally and figuratively, but isn't it great that your innards are working fine? I agree about the anti-gas medicines and probiotics as they seem to help when I sounds more like a poorly running chain saw. Good luck, and for goodness sake, no open flames!
  3. The only leaks I have had are out my ass end when I get the damn trots! But I was never worried about leaks in my sleeve. As many people as have this surgery done, I was confident that I would be ok. I worry more about getting all of my nutrients and food in! Found out I am low on iron, and that explains some of my tiredness. But that has been the extent of my problems. I really am glad I had the sleeve done!
  4. Hi Paula. yes, there is, but I do not go because it is all ladies and me :) Let me do some looking and get you the name of the contact person. And welcome.

  5. Just a nice success lead. Broke into the two-fers. Lost over 85 pounds now. Exercising more and eating is getting much better. Down into XL clothes and size 42-44 pants (from a 48-50). No more BP meds, and sleeping soundly with no more apnea. I am thrilled. My best to all on your journey.

    Weird question/situation

I have had that too, Tiffy. I feel fine; it's not like when I get the slimes. And just little chunks, nothing major. Beans are no good for me, nor celery. Onions are iffy. Thicker breads? No way, period. I am sure it is just of stomachs now have little hidden pockets and some of the more course materials get caught, then work their way back up. I have an appointment on Tuesday and was going to ask about the burping up of stuff anyway. Will pass on what I find out.

    Not wanting to eat

It sucks. Every time I think of food and getting some nourishment I get a feeling like the flu in my belly and nothing sounds good. Stand-bys, like potatoes and creamed Soups, do not even sound good. And now, on top of it all, it appears I am becoming lactose intolerant. Went from having BMs that were like trying to pass a bowling bowl to now, as Jack Nicholson said in The Bucket List, "Never trust a fart." Or, for me, watch out when I sneeze. Ugh! This is really the only down side recently. I am down 75+ pounds, working out, and feeling good. Clothes are from the verging on 4x size to a sometimes loose 2x. Pants from a expandable only 48 (so figure a 50+) to a 44. I just need to know others have had this and it will pass, no pun intended.

    Not wanting to eat

No pain and no temp. Feeling good otherwise. Just sucks is all
  14. I am doing well, overall. Just still adjusting to the eating, and not wanting to eat. Hope this day finds you well, too!

    Just call me... newbie :o)

I like not having fills. I like not feeling hungry. I like the fact that I will (eventually) be able to eat normal food, just in smaller portions. I like that it has no malabsorption problems (even though I need vitamins forever). I like that I will have no dumping. I like that it is better for my lower intestinal tract. I like that my stomach is basically intact and upper and lower flaps are not touched. Geez...that's a good start!
  16. I do my water so much easier now. I get my 64 oz., and often more, down easily. But I am an oddball (whoda thunk it?). I take very small sips of water as I eat and need it. I mean minuscule, but enough to make sure the slide is greased. After eating, no water. But during meals those tiny little sips can keep me from sliming.

    Favorite meals?

I like making a meatloaf, pretty simple, using pork and veal with a grape jelly/chili sauce over the top in a slow cooker. Do up some sweet taters, mash them up, and some cooked carrots and I am satisfied. Plus it stays well for a couple of days for lunches and other dinners.

    Food Intolerances

Add broccoli to my list of things not good (right now). Had three Florettes and 20 minutes later, up it came! I was shocked.

    Food Intolerances

Blessed be, no lactose intolerance so far. My only food intolerances come from two things: when I eat too fast and when the food has undigestable parts (i.e. the skins on beans). Have also had troubles with real eggs, but substitutes are ok. Beans and their skin also gave me the slimes. But overall, it is simply the need to slow down.
  20. Heyas Chancie. Just wanted to say hello. Seems as though we have similar "warped" ways to smile. Which is awesome! Be well!

Can I eat too little on the Pre-op?

My stuff came from one spot and was all pre-measured and ready to go. It was a small amount (for me) but took away all guess work. My guess would be you need to eat what you were told, not less. You need to be ready for surgery, not under nourished.
  22. Hi all. Am doing well overall, but have a question to those farther along with this. I am on soft foods now. From day to day, I go from eating with no problem, to having a feeling like a few bites is too many. Even with the same foods! Yesterday some string cheese went down wonderfully; today, it felt stuck and I felt like I was going to slime. Scrambled eggs (even a hard boiled one as a mid afternoon snack) went down easily earlier in the week, but not this morning. It is so weird. Is this normal? Is it something I am doing or not doing? Makes me wonder, day to day, what to plan for food.

    Water *H2O*

I am a bad Bobby (but some of you know that already). I actually take very tiny sips of Water when I eat. Not gulps, but little sips. Hope this does not doom me to be fat! I have found that the more time I have in post-surgery, drinking is getting easier. No, big gulps do not work, but normal drinks do. I look at it as being the same as my eating patterns. I used to gulp food, hardly take breaths between bites, and think that the more I could get shoved down my gullet the better. Now, I slow down, in both drinking and eating, and I am getting along just fine! The water is not an issue for me at all.

    Dehydration Issues.

I have a 64 ounce container (well, two so that it is cold) that I use to make sure I get all of my water down each day. If I do at least that, I am good to go. Now, in addition, I have my teas and SF popsicles. If I am peeing yellow (well, darker shade), I know I need more water, even if I am following my system. Some days I need more than others. And, yes, constipation issue on Monday. Picture a bowling ball going through a garden hose. That is how I felt. Damn near blew a vein in my neck on that deuce. But more water was the answer. Good luck.
