I have had a lapband for 10 years and want to have it removed and a gastric bypass done. I’m told that my insurance has a “failure” clause but I’m not sure what qualifies as a failure. Has anyone had a second surgery paid for by insurance?
-
Yes it’s the same insurance company. They have a revision clause for failure but I have to prove that failure wasn’t due to not following diet and exercise as prescribed by my doctor.

I had my band placed Friday 11/14 and am still having horrible pain on my left side. I had quit taking the Lortab they gave me and started taking Tylenol, but had to go back to Lortab. The pain in only in one spot on my left side, and I go back for my post-op tomorrow morning, but I was just wondering if anyone else had pain this long. Thanx, Sam

Dr. Baptista did my surgery on 11/14. I'm with you on the cheating, too afraid of stretching or messing up my band to go off of the postop rules. But I am absolutely starving! I can have soft foods on Sat and can't wait. Sam -
Silly abbreviation question

It means dear husband or darling husband...or depending on how bad he's been, it could mean darn husband! LOL -
Thanx everyone. After reading about so many people up and around after 3-4 days, and going back to work, I was getting worried that I hurt something. But I see my doc tomorrow anyway, but thanx for all the responses. Sam

Jodi, it's internal. In fact, it feels like my insides are ripping apart. I did have a hiatal hernia repaired. I wonder if it could be related to that?

Kasey, try keeping a pillow next to you, and when you have to cough, place the pillow on your tummy, apply a little pressure or bend forward, and then cough. It should help you get a fuller cough without so much pain. Just a little trick I learned when I had my hysterectomy years ago. Hope it helps, cause you need to keep those lungs clear. :rolleyes2: Sam -

My doc post op instructions say 3/4 to a gallon of fluids a day. That includes the popsicles, Jello, Soup broth, etc. Sam -
Good luck with getting your procedure. I just had my band on 11/14, and I honestly don't know how anyone could do this alone. Maybe I have just had a hard time, but between the Lortab medicine and the pain, I have needed extensive help from my family. Do you have a friend that could come stay with your during your first week at least? Sam

Hi everyone! I am in Jacksonville, and had my band placed on Friday 11/14 by Dr. Baptista at Memorial. I have been very happy with him, and was very happy with Memorial outpatient. I am covered by insurance, so not sure of the cost for selfpay, but am happy to answer any questions I can. Sam

Welcome Robin. It's a great idea to do a ton of research before hand so that you are not caught off guard about anything. Good luck with the process and finding a doc you love. Hi Susan, I am also in Jax. I just had my band placed by Dr Baptista at Memorial Hospital. Sam

Hello from Long Island With Lots of ???????????/

I would start the process as soon as possible as all insurances have different requirements, like doctor supervised weight loss programs, so the sooner you know what they require, the sooner you can meet the requirements. As for a doctor, can't help there, as I am in Florida, but good luck to you with your decision. Sam
