Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Ruthi replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure the heparin is different from patient to patient, they may have given it to me because of my previous surgery. I remember the injection into my stomach area though. -
A question from my fiance
Ruthi replied to Malaika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only leaking I can think of is the drainage from where the drain tube was. They remove the drainage tube before you leave the hospital but you have a small amount of drainage from the site for about a week or so post op. The bandage just needs to be changed until the site is healed completely. -
That is such a kind thing to do for her and of course it benefits you but still, the post op regimine is not easy to follow.

Sleeve vs. Lap Band
Ruthi replied to time2enjoylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery the same day as Vangel and I can honestly say that I have not felt hungry, but.....head hunger is totally a different thing. I want to eat. I am not hungry but I want food. I cant even watch the food channel or a food commercial since that adds to the food craving. The mind is a wierd and wonderful thing isnt it? -

Well it surgery day, Susan went first and is about half way through it and is doing fine. Lucy just gave me my happy pills and told me to get ready. We were both so nervous this morning. We will keep in touch. This is such a long wait.

I am not having any trouble getting in my fluids but I am trying to sip on something constantly. I still can not figure out why we have to limit intake to 2 oz every 15 min even when it doesnt hurt? I think that is my biggest struggle right now. What can happen if you take in too much too fast? Is it a learning how to eat thing or can I cause major damage that way? Just curious for the reasoning behind this

They ( the passport cards) take longer to get however so apply for it a couple of months ahead. I had a regular passport expedited. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for a regular passport without expediting. Expediting is expensive but its good if you want to get the surgery done in less than 6 weeks. Right now there seems to be a rush since the new rule went into effect the 1st of June. Alot of Mexicans cant go home to visit the family without one for the whole family. -
I am going to try that, sounds like you came up with a winner

I know what you mean daisy, my daughter is 29 and is like my best friend also. She lives 2000 miles a way and we talk to each other 2 to 3 times a day. Thank God for Verizon friends and family LOL

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico

I will be the first to agree with everyone about Dr Aceves. He was very kind and attentive. He notiiced I was anxious about something and at the moment sort of distracted from his talk (I have an anxiety disorder) so he stopped and asked me about it and asked several times during my stay if I was ok and was feeling calmer. He even came by to thank me when I was the one who was to thank him. I told him he was a big hit on this site and with his patients raving about him, we would keep him busy. He actually blushed. PS. He loves sugar babies and loves it when someone brings him a bag or box of them. -
Today I am experiencing the fluids in fluids out effect. OMG!!!! Immodium hasnt kicked in yet. I think its the protein supplement, it got really bad when I started drinking the isopur and the IDS bullets. I stay really close to the bathroom right now and dont trust myself just to pass gas. But......with that being said, I lost 10 lbs in 5 days.

what do u do if you "fall off the bandwagon"
Ruthi replied to roseyandmusic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an old trick and I hope it will still work when I start eating again. If there is something I am craving, I hold out until I have to leave the house or the office for something like going to work, going home, shopping etc. then just as I am about to leave I take one piece of what ever it is that I am dying to eat and pop that into my big mouth and go out the door. I cant return for seconds and that little bit usually gets rid of the craving. -

makes me glad that my liquid phase for clear and full liquids is 10 days each. A few extra days for healing. Any history of diabetes? -
Why would you leave the US for surgery?
Ruthi replied to Leuteus's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yes, and keep in mind that some will charge more if the surgery is a revision and not a first time surgery. I had a band previously and had to pay 3K more and worth every cent. -
4th day post op here and back to work today. I feel totally fine, just wish I could eat a scone LOL
