How to talk to your PCP?
Ruthi replied to learned2bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just tell her, she is a doctor and is very aware that many many many people go to other countries for treatment and surgery that is unavailable and unaffordable here. It should not come as any surprise to her. As to any comment she should have about having the surgery in lieu of diet and excercise, My comment to the doctors has been that unless you have had my experiences, you can not judge me or what my body can or cannot do. I also add that what is done is done. End of the discussion. If she is any type of professional at all, it wont be an issue. -
Just to keep you more informed. Many people with the band have had some intense complications with it and have almost died as a result. I am one of those ppl. I heard about the complications and said to myself, "it wont happen to me" but guess what? If anyone gave me the option now to have insurance pay for another band or have a sleeve and pay for it yourself, I would be asking where to borrow the money. BELIEVE ME when I tell you, you do NOT want the band.

a few questions (lapband to vsg)
Ruthi replied to adavis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to agree with Daisy, I love my sleeve, it is perfect for me. I can eat anything that I did before but not much of it. I just had a 2 oz grilled boneless pork chop for dinner and I am full. If I eat too much, I feel miserable as in nauseated or some chest pressure but that was mainly before I learned how to eat. I have to overcome what my head wants and my stomach can do. In other words, I may want more of something I am eating because it tastes so good but....My stomach cant hold anymore. I can have more of it, not just this minute, maybe I can have some more later if I still want it but I usually dont. The head hunger thing passes. Best of luck to you and keep posting -
Give her a hug for us and we are always here for you. Our prayers and thoughts are with you both daily. Hugs to you both

Satiety, Inc. - A new WLS procedure (Investigational)
Ruthi replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The whole thing looks too scarey to me. I am happy with my sleeve -
Poor baby, I feel for her and congrats about you meds..I know how you feel. I was taking 7 pills every morning and now I am down to 3. Its a liberating feeling.

yes, its normal. Gravity lets the water weight you have on board right now drain to its lowest point, your ankles and feet. Are you peeing regularly? thats important. I would also let your doctor at least know about the swelling and added water weight, he should be kept informed

Should sipping be getting easier?
Ruthi replied to TennJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a month out and I still feel some tightness when drinking, especially with cold liquids. The bigger the sip, the tighter the feeling. -
Sometimes people gain some weight after surgery due to IV fluids but it doesnt last. When I had my emergency surgery to have the band removed last March, I gain almost 18 lbs andja phenomenon called 3rd spacing was blowing me up like a dead fish. I wasnt eating or drinking that whole week It went away in about 10 days after I was discharged. It has alot to o with the type of IV fluids they used.
-
I too had to have my band removed and while recovering from the removal surgery, gained back 13 lbs. I got the sleeve 3 months after the removal surgery, that was the ealiest I could have another surgery. I got the sleeve and love it. Good luck with your decision. Life with the sleeve is so much better. none of the complicated crap the band had.

I hope she joins our forum. Everything we go through helps someone.

It a new/old way of removing brows other than by waxing. Its suppose to be an old middle eastern procedure according to my cosmetologist. Its fast but stings more than waxing. Its sort of hard to describe but done with a long piece of thread and twisting somehow. Anyway, its pretty popular here and I had it done today just to try it. I think I want the hot wax.

Welcome Nana, we are practically neighbors. I am in Santa Clarita. V angel and I had our surgeries the same day in Mexico. As far as pain goes, I had my eyebrows threaded today and that hurt more than the surgery did. Again welcome, we are excited to have you with us.

Welcome home sleeve sista!, Keep us posted.

:001_rolleyes::thumbup::biggrin0::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: What a great thing to experience. I can feel your grin from here! Way to go girl! -
Have you tried the 5 day pouch test thing? I understand where you are coming from. I would have loved for this to have been the miracle cure. I hate exercising. Besides this is a tool, right? LOL #$%^&*&^^%$$# expensive tool. If I spent that much for screw driver, it had better do the work by itself, right? But...I would still have to choose the screw I would use it on and the speed of the job, so there you go, you still have the controls. Good luck to you and know we are here to support you.
