    Portion Size

I think this is a subject that every bander ask's, I known I have! I known that I can eat more for dinner than I do for my other meals. I thought that I was doing something wrong, when I am not. Breakfast has only been lasting me 3 hours, were lunch and dinner last 4 to 5 hours. But known that I have read this thread, I do not feel as confused as I did. I want to thank everyone that replyed to this post it was very helpfull. :tt2: Barb

  4. I also was by myself after the surgery! I just bought everything I would need before hand and I did everything slowly. I could have stayed with my Aunt, but I just wanted to be in my own home. Good luck. Barb
  5. I bought an exercise bike just before my surgery. I have been riding it every day. I have bad knees, so it has taken me 2 months to get up to 12 minutes. Then I do another 10 minutes with dumb bells. I also do this every day. It has helped a lot with loosing the weight. Good luck to you, Barb

    In a Panic

When I was banded the surgery went fine and so will yours. I was more scared of not coming out of the surgery, then having it! I thought about the surgery for 6 months before I started the paper work and it was 10 months before I got through all the dr.'s. and had the surgery. I am not sorry I did it and neither will you. Best of luck to all that are still waiting, Barb

    Notorious November NSV!

I have gone down 2 sizes in pants! Some of my pants are just to big to wear, so I had to buy 4 new pairs of pants, so I can go to work. Barb
  8. Surgery date 11/6/08 Highest Weight 359 Surgery weight 346 Current weight 306 Barb
  9. I was banded 7 weeks ago and have lost 37 pounds total (24 pounds after banding). I got through Thanksgiving, because I did not have to go to anyones house for dinner! But Xmas is a different store. My Aunt does all the cooking and I pick her up and I take her and the food to a cousins house were the family gets together. I eat a lot less than I did before, but I am still learning about my band, and how much I can eat. I do not always known when I am full or not. I known that I will only be able to eat a small amount of Xmas dinner, but how do I decide what to eat? And I do not want to sit and watch everyone eating, but I do not want to be rude and leave the table. What to do?

I am Scared of Xmas Dinner

I did it! I made it through Xmas dinner. :tongue2: There was no piging out! I picked the foods I really wanted to eat. I even had a little dessert and did not feel bad afterwards for having some. Now I known that I can go and have dinner with family and friends and not feel depraved. I just have to think about what I want and how much I can have!

I am Scared of Xmas Dinner

I want to thank you both for your wisdom! I known I have to get my feet wet, but it is still scary. I also known that if I can get through Xmas dinner, I should be able to get through any family dinner. Again thanks and have a happy holiday!

Excercise for Person Over 250 lbs ??

I have not exercise in years and I am over 300. I bought a exercise bike before I was banded. I started only being able to ride for 2 min for the first month and now I am doing 5 min. I could use some help too! I have bad knees and my Dr. said no walking. Thank for any help you can give.

    Drinking while eating

My Dr. said 30 min's. before and 1 hour after meals. Most of the time I follow the 30 min.'s before. If I am busy at work, I do not get to go to lunch at the same time. But I do follow the 1 hour after meals. This works for me.

    Anyone banded on Staten Island?

Hi Treesa, I was not able to send a private message. I do not known how to do it. It was good to meet you. That was a good meeting! What do you think. Are you still going to get banded?
  19. Hi,

The protein drink I bought is Isopure, it is 40g prot. & 0 carbs. The flavors I got are: Alpine punch, Pineapple orange banana, & Grape frost. I bought them at GNC. GNC has them cold, so you can try them and see if you like them. GNC has a club, it cost $9.99 to join, but the first 7 day of the month, you get 20% off anything you buy. They have the Calcium also! It was cheaper there at $7.99. I hope this helps. See you Wed., Barb

  20. Hi,

I work for SIUH and as a manager, I did not have to pay the copay on the surgery. White, short brown hair, glasses, over weight! That is every one in the room. Almost! I will try to get there about 6pm. See you then, Barb

  21. Hi,

I was told that I had to lose 18 pounds at the begining. It was 10 months before I was ready for surgery. In 10 months, I was up and down, but did it by the surgery! I needed my gall bladder out and they did that first (10/23/08). Then they did the band on 11/6/08. So I was out of work for a month! I did great with the recovery! My sister in law came and stayed with me thur the gall blader and the banding. But she had to go home the next day after surgery. So, I was alone thur my recovery. My cats wouldn't even get me a glass of water! There will be a support meeting on Wed 12/3, I will be going. Have a nice rainy day, Barb

  22. Hi,

Dr's McMullen and Nicastro did my banding. I had to lose 18 pounds before the surgery and I have lost 15 pounds after, so 33 pounds gone for good! Things are going good, I am starting week 5. I only found this site after my surgery. It is great! Do you go to the support group at SIUH? Barb

    Under 300 pounds!

It is great news that it can be done! I can not wait to get to that point! I was banded on 11/6/08 and have lost 15 pounds. Keep up the good work!
  25. It is 2 weeks after my banding and I have a rash around my incisions. The Dr. said it was a allergic reaction, so I was thing it was the baby food, I have been eating. It started about the same time. I had my gall bladder out 2 weeks before my banding and I did not have the rash. So, I do not think it was the adhesive. Any one else have an answer?
