I would love to attend, but sadly it costs so much-at least for my budget. I wish I had known about this sooner and been able to plan for it -
11weeks out Sick & Depressed!
Spring Dixie replied to mrs.papa923's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@mrs.papa923 how are you doing? I had surgery 12/23/14 only spent a night in the hospital, but was back in 2 days later with severe c-diff. I am now on my 2nd round of antibiotics as well. I take Flagyl and Vancomycin which still have not rid me of symptoms. I was back in the hospital a few days ago due to dehydration because the Flagyl makes me so sick. I'm now also taking zofran. While I feel slightly better I'm still dealing with abdominal pain and diarrhea. I have follow up appts this week with specialist. Hoping that you came out of it alright...I need see some hope to look towards. -
My name's Natasha too! Yesterday was hell... Not going to lie I cried and asked multiple times why I was doing this. Today has been better. I'm still dealing with a lot of gas/burping. But I'm getting through it. How are you doing?

Long time (mostly lurker) member here I just did the whole seminar thing (again ) and have requested an appointment. I'm hoping I can start this journey by the end if the month. I've finally got insurance that will make it a possibility! I've have been trying for 6 years (actually more like 10 but I was told I was too young 10 years ago) now to have bariatric surgery, however, it just hasn't been in my cards. I'm hoping my surgeon will be able to get me in mid December (though if he tells me he can get me in in October I won't hesitate!). I am currently 26, I am 5'2" and 325 which gives me a whopping BMI of 59! I don't have any co-morbidities (yet!) but I'm sure if I wait any longer they are just around the corner. I have tried dieting over and over and over agin but always gain back, I've lost up to 60 pounds only to gain back another 80. My weight has gotten to a point where I can no longer do things I want...specifically horseback riding...I've got a herd that I can no longer romp around on. I also love going on mission trips but the flights are uncomfortable both physically and emotionally and then I have a hard time keeping up while on them and being a productive member. A year ago I was looking at doing the lap-band, my main reason was I am terrified of having my innards cut to pieces but over the last year I have gotten the chance really look at statistics. I don't want a second surgery, I want one and be done with it, looking at the statistics the LB will more than likely require another at some point. The second thing I looked at was potential weight loss. I can loose twice as much with RNY, the band won't give me near as much weight loss potential as I need. Anywho, wish me luck, send me prayers, and I look toward to sharing my story as it unfolds

Way to go! That's impressive! I'm actually not finding myself nervous at all. I'm very excited. In the past when I've looked at doing it I was nervous about all the what ifs but now I'm beyond that. Im more nervous that it's so far out that something might happen that'll prevent me from having it done. For me there is nothing to be nervous about. I'm done living like this. Will it be a complete lifestyle change, you bet...but if it means not "living" like this then I'm ready. The risks of surgery at this point are more than worth it...if there's major complications then so be it, at least I tried. I'm ready and hopeful and most of all excited ????

Anyone having surgery in December?

I keep seeing your name everywhere! Pretty excited to find someone my age going through the same process at roughly the same time! ???? -
I call tomorrow for my official surgery date but I will be getting mine done on/around December 19...I'm just under 2 months away! After 10+years of aiming to get this surgery (and failing every diet to kingdom come during that time) it feels surreal! I can't believe this is finally happening!

Everything has been sent off for insurance approval!

Thanks for checking in on me! I got a little down as I had planned on this month originally (actually this week!) but i needed more time to financially plan for it and also be able to take more time off from work than 1 week. I'm now planning on around 12/19. I have one more procedure tomorrow and after that I will be scheduled and have an actual surgery date! I would love to join your Facebook group, send me a message! ????

I actually just changed mine I decided that it would be better to have it done in December where I have 2.5 weeks off (love working for the school district) and I'll be less stretched financially as well to get all of the co-pays in. But I'll be going under general anesthesia for an endoscopy that day instead now (I don't sedate well so they're going to do full anesthesia) Best of luck to you though!
-
Another step closer last night I had my dietician and psychology seminar tomorrow I have my pap and after that I just have to get my endoscopy and psych 1:1 and then I'll be ready for surgery! I'm getting less and less nervous and more and more mentally prepared. I feel so much better after the seminars as well. They really answered a lot of questions, have me the tools I need for post-op and really made me feel like I'll have a great support system afterwards
