    Bandster Hell

You're not the only one! I've been on solid's now for a week and am starving... My dr's reccomendation is 4 oz of food 3x per day but I quickly realized it's not enough and leaves me starving! I've been getting in my protien and Water everyday and still feel hungry! Unfortunatly I've also realized that there isn't much food that makes me sick or gets "stuck" which is in turn making the situation worse, because I want to eat! It's so bad that I've often wondered if my band has slipped ( I pray NOT!) *sigh* I've boosted my meals up to 1 cup of food 3xs per day and added in Snacks and still some days I'm more ravenous than others...especially being on vacation for the past few weeks! I did notice yesterday that I actually gained a pound and I'm pretty sure that it's because I haven't been exercising ... I actually started back today! I'm not worried about the gain, because I know it will come back off... I am however worried about no restriction and never feeling full...makes me feel like I did pre-band...... I can honestly say that I'm running to my Dr's office come the 6 week mark for my first fill!!

  3. I apologize if I'm repeating this from another post...but I wanted to share something that may be just as awesome for you too!! In my pre-op meeting with the dietician we discussed how much protien I'll need to take in on a daily basis (60 grams) and I expressed my dislike for the protien shakes and asked her if there was anything else that I could try to get in the required protien....and she suggested ISOPURE!! OMG..if you're anything like me and you have a strong dislike for the taste of those thick powders and the bland chalky taste of the pre-made drinks Isopure is definitly for you too! It sort of looks like Gatorade, so it's a really smooth liquid that goes down relatively smooth. It's got a bit of an after-taste but much better than those shakes (yuck!) The only downside is that they are expensive, I found them at my local GNC for $4 per bottle or $50 for a case of 12. But for me sooo worth it!

    Post-Op Diet

Thanks for creating a smaller group! I have to begin my pre-op diet 10 days before surgery (Dec 2)...however after all of the overeating that I've been doing lately think that I am going to make my official "last meal" on Thursday of this week. My pre-op diet mostly consists of mushy and liquid foods, the dr. is allowing for up to 2 frozen diet meals per day along with the protien shakes. Is anyone using the canned Protein shakes or are you generallly making your own? Just asking because I found a website Bariatric Advantage Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, Realize, Stomaphyx and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients that sells a lot of items geard towards bariatric patients and I was thinking of getting a few of their sample kit's to check out the product. I also found recipies for Medifast shakes here recipes Guides
