    May 14th Surgery Stories

hi everyone I had to leave home for the hospital at 5.30am to be there at 6.30am for a 8am theatre time slot. I was so scared and upset, when we got to the hospital my husband sat with me int he waiitng room till they came and got me to do a few obs ect, Thats when they told me my husband couldnt come along with me. I was terrified and burst into tears like a baby. My husband gave me a big hug and told me he was proud of me. I had a few more tears after that but all I kept thinking was that hubby was gonna be there as soon as Im awake. I went into surgery at about 8.10am because the docotors were running late. I cant remember what time I went into recovery, all I remember was that they couldnt find me a bed in the HDU, I ended up getting a bed at about 11.30am, and hubby was there waiting for me. I was so excitied that I didnt die as that was my biggest fear. I spent the night in the hospital in the HDU and was annoyed by nurses every hour taking blood pressure, temps etc all I wanted to do was sleep. I was lucky I wasnt in very much pain except for my left shoulder which still gives me a little grief but Its all good. I didnt take any pain meds from the nurses. Next morning, Nutrionist came in about 9.30am and spoke to me and another lady that was banded by the same doctor, Docotor came in about 10am, told me my liver was in excellent condition (thank GOD for that) Got home at about 1.00pm yesterday. Last night sleeping in my own bed was just beautiful,. nobody waking me up to annoy me every hour. And it was way more comfy Today, im feeling quite good, Went out to watch my son have swimming lessons and then to the shops for about 30 mins but that was enough, here I am sitting at home trying to eat a very runny chocolate yogo (custard) Hope everyone is doing really well............ Big hugs and high fives to you all :grouphug:
  2. OK so I slept in my own bed last night, and ahhhhh what a lovely feeling that was. I woke up this morning feeling much better than yesterday. Still a little achy in my left shoulder but Im doing pretty good. Went to see my son do swimming lessons this morning, then to the shops for about 30 minutes. Im sitting here trying to eat a chocoloate yogo but I cant eat too much. Two mouth fulls and Im full already. Have you got any food into you as yet? I know what you mean about drinking the water, I dont like drinking it, but its gets better though.

Let me know how you going.........and YEP WE DID IT, How wonderful are we??????

  11. Hey Noemi

28lbs sounds so much as apposed to 13kg....hehehe. Either way Im excited! I would love to lose about 50kg in total, more would be great but realistically Id be happy with 50kg. How much do you wanna lose?

We just booked another cruise so Im hoping to look a whole lot better by March next year :)

our surgery date is coming up so fast, its weird that its just next week. Its a bit daunting but exciting at the same time. My doctor yesterday made me feel so comfortable, he was joiking around. It was great

Thast my little boy Andrew in the picture he is 6 going on about 26..... I should try and put a better picture up one day.

Whats Zumba?? is it a dance class?? or am I way off?

I cant believe you dont know what cordial is....Its yummo well not all of them Cottees ones are the best at the moment Im nuts on the Apple Rasberry flavour.

Id love to go to Disney World, When Andrew is a little older we might go to the US, hed love it over there.

  16. Hi there

I havent caught your name as yet? Whereabouts are you from?

Its so nice to be able to talk (well type) to someone having there op on the same day as me.

hahaha Im with ya on the peeing, at my work its about a 100m walk to the toilet, so Im constantly walking up there. hahaha I reckon I go about 10 times a day

I got a call from my anaethesist (however you spell it) he told me I am first on the list for surgery on the 14th, YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEe but Im still quite scared......Im such a chicken

How are you feeling about surgery? Are you worried or scared?

2 more days till my final appointment with the doctor, Im looking forward to it...

This is going to be a really dumb question, but what is crystal light?? I see a lot of people write about it but I dont know what it is

  19. Hi There

I am a little the same, have been trying to keep myself busy. I have decided its cleaning out the kitchen day tomorrow I cant believe we are almost there to our date 14/5 its come around so fast. How long do you have to be on your pre op diet? What do you have to do in your diet? Im just on 2 Optifast a day and a meal at dinner time. Small peice of protein and some vege or salad. Its not too bad, Its weird to say it but the Chocolate Optifast actually tastes quite nice :)

I have been feeling really crap the last couple of days, the optifast seems to bound me up pretty bad :( Its not nice, But at the end of the day its working I have lost quite a bit of weight. If my scales at my gym and the ones at the doctors are the same Ive lost 12kg.....kinda exciting....Im just hoping my liver shrinks enough

But hey like you said WE can do it!!!

Thanks heaps for writing to me that was really nice

    Talk soon Trish :)
