scott, I have been banded since june of 08' and I was told today i have a slipped band and will need surgery, i too was unable to drink water. and had terrible reflux. how was the second surgery and is it as succesful as the first? any reply is appreciated... thanx vicki

wow, I am so impressed with your numbers, how did u lose so fast. why a new band? i ask because i was just told today my band has slipped and i may need surgery and i wonder if they use a new band and if it works as well as the first one.

sandi, if water won't go down then u r obstructed. But listen to me I went back in today because I was still after all the unfills having really bad reflux last nite and they did a barrium swallow and my band has slipped, and pretty bad too. so I am on total liquids for the next two weeks and they totallly unfilled me and i may have to have surgery to repair it. they also told me if I cant get liquids down over the weekend, I have to go the the ER and maybe have emergency surgery due to obstruction...be careful and I only wish I had been more careful and slower with the fills.

well guys i now know why I have been miserable for awhile, I went in today after another miserable night of reflux and Hoffman wasnt there so barb ordered a swallow study and my band has slipped, she says it is pretty bad and it will never be the same and I am probably going to have to have surgery to repair it.. all the fluid is out of the band now 2 cc were in there not 1. it is wierd cause i feel like I am grieving my band. I am really upset and depressed and scared. I have to drink liquids for 2 weeks. NO solid food at all and only if I am desperated i can have strained cream soup in small amounts. I wish I knew what happened and when. if I can't get fluids down during the weekend, I have to go to the ER and could mean emergency surgery...

ate some oatmeal tonight and it has not gone into the large stomach yet but not making me miserable yet either, keeping my fingers crossed. I was starving. ate a couple peanut butter cookies with milk, that seemed a little heavy but doing ok, my weight is up a few lbs, will see what it does over the next couple days. Val, How are u doing your last post said your tight too, is it better now.

well, not worried about eating yet since I tried and it is still getting stuck, not as bad but I was still miserable last night and didn't sleep much. I finally Pee'd at 3pm today after 2 days of not peeing at all. scary really. I am starving right now but know the consequences of eating so trying really hard. Had some of that lipton soup and did mostly broth and even some of that came back up. hopefully it is just swelling and will go down soon. have an appt tues to start refilling but am scared and may hold off, we'll see....nice to hear from you Jenn hope all goes well....

I was back at the doc's yesterday and he took out another 3 cc on top of the .75 last week and he said I was totally obstructed. I was miserable, dehydrated, and I dont ever want to feel that way again. I am down to 1 cc left in the band and I am still having slight problems with reflux and nothing but liquids going down, he said I am swollen. have to go back tues. and start to ad some fill. I am not sure if I am ready. I have never been deflated before and I am down 105 lbs since 6-09-08. gonna take things slow, dont ever want to go thru this again.....

awwwwwwwwwwww, I wuv u biggurl.:wub::wub::wub: u soooo sweet. OK so I was deflated all but 1 cc left in the band.:w00t: he took out .8 last week and 3 cc today. So, I went to wegmans and bought lipton chicken noodle soup and a diet pepsi, cause I haven't had a diet pepsi in 1 year and 9 months, boy did it taste gooooood, so everything went down without a hitch, and then still warm mmmmm there was this uncut loaf of sourdough bread and I couldn't resist, so I did broth and fluids all day and the bread was calling out to me, so not taking any chances, I lubricated it with whipped butter, er, u know, so it would go down nice and smooth. Uh, well not so much, it was stuck for a good hour, so shame on me and no more bread! I have to go back next tues, and I will start to get refilled. But you know, I think I have been too tight for a long time, cause now that I can eat, I can't remember the last time I could eat normal.., sooooo I am going to go nice and slow, and I am not going to get so tight I cant eat normal again..... Had Hoff, barb, and a new PA with me in training the whole time again.....I am so Happy I can drink I could sh** !!:eek: PS i lost 2 more lbs since last tues so down to 185, not sure if it will stay off since it could be I was dehydrated or because I can eat now..hahahahaha OMG!! I got to keep this weight off I just noticed my BMI! WOOHOO!

I too am having a problem getting water to go down, I had an unfill of .75cc 1 week ago and felt ok for 3 days and today i called the doc cause water isn't going down again, I am thirsty and drink but just to get rid of it in5 or 10 min. I would say if water isn't going down we are too tight. are you urinating, is it dark, are u thirsty, if so you are dehydrated, i would get a slight unfill and see how your feeling after 2 weeks. I only have 4.4 cc in a 10 cc band and I used to have 5.7 so like my doc said every fill and unfill is different. what is ok now may not be tomorrow...good luck

this is insanity, i'm sorry for u val, but kinda glad i'm not alone. they make me feel like an anomoly. I can't wait another minute, if they had evening hours i would be up there right now. I am so thirsty I could drink lake erie. eeewww....

well feel better Yvette, you've got a lotta activities to keep you going. I on the other hand am probably going to be in dr H.'s office tomorrow. Yes, you heard me. My band has tightened up again, and as of this afternoon, can't get water down again. they told me to do ice chips and protien shakes and see how I feel tom. but right now its not good. I can't imagine why this is happening to me, but I am scared. talked to Barb and she said they never encountered anyone like me. Ha! they got that right>>:wub: anyway keep fingers and toes crossed. I will probably be totally deflated tomorrow.

Well, well, lookie who popped in..Yes, u r right, we r trying to make u feel guilty, glad it worked. Just because your pregnant doesnt make u any less of a bandster, and there may be other woman who become pregnant or want to and they could gain alot of infor from u. and your only gaining baby weight not permanent weight and by staying in touch, maybe u will watch yourself more closely if your not already. we miss u chiming in everyday, and I have gained two lbs back and only have 4.4 cc's now. come on at least a couple times a week so we know how your doing. You'll probably have this baby and surpass us all on you weight loss journey! :frown:

I hope the rapture hasn't happened and we were left behind!:frown: isn't it wierd that everyone dissapeared all at once? well, I guess its just you and me kid.:sad:

WOW, this is very sad, but I do believe this site has gone cold...no one is here anymore but me and you val, and we're not even on so much anymore. I'll check in once a day to see if this gig is over. I hope not...

Thats great Val, It does feel good to be in the 30's BMI I mean, lol. I have more restriction than I had yesterday, so this is really strange. I am taking it easy cause I don't want to irritate myself anymore. I hope it doesnt get any tighter than it is now, im a little worried. tues. i felt great and yesterday i didn't have much restriction and today little things are getting hung up. so keep my fingers crossed..Im glad you are doing so well.:confused:

It was really great to finally meet u Val. Too bad we didn't have a few minutes to chat. Hoffman remove .8 cc's and i go back on march 30th @ 11:15. feel much better, can eat and drink now. was actually feeling better this am. but we decided to deflate some anyway and let myself heal. how did u make out today, did u lose, did u get a fill. hope all went well with u....

got hold of Hoffman, may see him tomorrow, but they are closed tom. and he is busy, said he could try and see me somewhere before noon, but have carpet installer coming in am. I had the upper GI done 2 weeks ago, and everything was great, no restriction band placement was good, Barb says that about all that shows. I know Yvette (BIG GURL X) just had the scope done cause she was worried too. so i'm gonna ask him to schedule it. sh**, i guess this is the down side of the band....

Yes, I agree, but I figured I went the last few days so i would just wait till morning. were u like this when u met him. also, My boyfriends daughter in law is an ER nurse there and she is a bitch and the last one I would want to know my business. well, I am definitly calling tomorrow, i can't get water or anything to go down and I tried to eat vanilla icecream to soothe and reduce inflamation, and then that wouldn't move and when it came out it had blood in it and this morning i could taste blood...I am terrified now. I am having new carpet installed tomorrow so if i cant get in tomorrow I have to see someone tues. He is gonna have to scope me cause i wont be at ease until i know everything is ok.. ps. i hit the 100 lb mark today, kinda bitter sweet with the misery i am in...i also bought a pair or slacks and skirt today size 14 and loose. i hope everything is ok so i can be happy with this accomplishment...
