That's awesome jesiel! And yes,I'm still amazaed that i'm on 'this side' of this journey!
-
Take it one "meal" at a time...I'm 8 days post op and can tell you that it's all relative in the grand scheme of this. Remember,we are learning to eat to live,no longer living to eat!

I'm doing great. My surgery went smoothly and I recovered quickly. I am down about 15 pounds since surgery day and actually had the best tasting egg today! lol...I mixed a lil' riccotta in with it to make it softer and it was the best thing since slice bread! lol... so anyone on purees? what are you eating and in what quantities...I've been on them since day 5 post op and always think i'm eating to much. 1/4 cup 3 times a day and 2 protien shakes,50ish oz. of water(working on getting more)...scale is still going down,so i'm not sure if im eating enough/to much or what? lol

I was banded last week with a BMI of 60...i feel great and my surgery went smoothly. Best of luck to you!

I'm on pureed food. I am 8 days post op. I've been on purees since day5. I kinda don't see the point in making just 1/4 cup of food to eat. It's easier to just drink my protien shake and be on my way. How much (portion wise) are you all eating right now? I do eat "three meals" because I'm "supposed" to. I have 1/4 cup of applesauce in the morning,1/4 ricotta w/some tomato sauce for lunch and dinner is usually 1/4 soup or some smashed cottage cheese. I just don't think Ill get this portion thing down ever! lol...I am on purees for another week and a half....

My starting BMI was 60 and I had zero cormorbidities. My surgeon let me know that i would have faster results with the GB,but supported me in what I wanted. I don't want fast...i just want it gone! lol

I had my surgery last week (through Tricare) and they didn't need any of that. Just my diet history (nothing official)....good luck!

Banded 5/26th - questions
AlaskaGirl77 replied to RNmomtothree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! A lot of us May 26th gals! lol...My dr. had me 1-2 days clears,1-2 days full liquids and now 2-3 weeks purees...He wasn't specific on serving sizes (not that great with post op info) so I now see I've been eating a lil' to much mushie wise (instead of 1/4 cup, probably 1/2 cup) going to get on track to morrow and hope i haven't screwed anyhthing up. 60 grams of protein a day...I'm feeling great though~I was down 10 lbs pre op and 14.7 since surgery on the 26th....everyone seems to be doing great~! Congratulations everyone! -
excruciating left shoulder pain-3 days post op
AlaskaGirl77 replied to msbrady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 days post op. Had my check up today. Shoulder pain since day 5. My dr. said it has to do with swelling on the diaphram that hits a nerve in the left shoulder. He told ME that it should ony last 2 days and if it continues to watch for signs of infection for a possible infection behind the diaphram...so it's worth asking your dr. about... -
All went great! will give details later..we just got home from anchorage...i saw him today too! lol

Do you wake up with a tube in your throat?
AlaskaGirl77 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious if you wake up with the tube in your throat (you know,on TV,they say take a deep breath out...lol)??? I'm slightly closterphobic and it takes my breath away just to think about not being in control of my breathing...TIA! -
Am I too fat for the band?
AlaskaGirl77 replied to fluffynfine1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen many succuess stories on people over 400lbs. I am 370ish and going to be banded next week. My dr. said that in Australia, they wouldn't do a lap band on me,but he's confident that this is THE tool i need to succeed. (P.S. I have no idea what Australia has to do with it...lol,other than they've been banding longer).. -
Have you been approved through Tricare with the same stats as me?
AlaskaGirl77 replied to talkalot1981's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had seen my nutrt. at a different base and I just called her,she wrote a letter and sent it to me...was good enough for my surgeon. Ask your WL surgeon what he wants/needs. Mine gave me a checklist. -
Dr. Grant Searles - Welcome Alaska Girls and Guys!

We have our own clinic down here on Eielson. I was referred by my PCM from Eielson to the WLS. Yes,Tricare is currently paying for Lap band and Gastric Bypass. Some MTF's cover the gastric sleve, but that is only if there is a dr. at Ft.WW that does them. (Which there is not currently). But they pay for you to go down there, lodging, rental cars...not that big of a deal....let me know if you have any questions...oh,some of the pre op stuff is done at Bassett. -
A newbie who is doubting having the band done
AlaskaGirl77 replied to GettingMyLifeBack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So,here's my take on things...I am NOT banded yet...just a few more days (May 26) and I have been going through every emotion. Bottom line,it's human nature to express bad things over good. So here on the message board, there is a safe place to complain, work through fears, let out aggrivation in an enviorment that it's encouraged to do so. ANd that's great. Because it helps us feel that we are not alone. When somehthing is working (the band) we aren't going to post everyday "well, another great day on the band, felt great and no issues"...we post when something is wrong...I don['t think I'm doing a good job explaining it. Bottom line,if I stay fat I'm going to die sooner than if I were smaller...the lab band is a tool that will help me achieve that. Best of luck with your decision. -

AlaskaGirl77 replied to talkalot1981's topic in Insurance & Financing
Make sure you get your shrink/nutritionist documented because your actual surgeon is going to need that paperwork for Tricare approval. Your PCM is just trying to see if you can do this w/o going through w/ WLS,Just make sure you are clear with the both of them that you are doing this for WLS,if not they will send you on a diet on your way.... -
Good luck hon! We share the same surgery date!

Smoker & Alcohol / Scheduled to get banded in June / Looking for companion
AlaskaGirl77 replied to thisendisabeginning's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking to prep not only for my surgery, but my HEALTHY new life. What helped me the most? Do a search with quick smoking before surgery and take a look at pix of how your skin won't heal and whatnot due to the nicotine...as well as you want your lungs in tip top shape before you go under! best of luck to you!! -
That rocks! What a kick butt job you've done!
