Really frustrated- hardly any restriction
AlaskaGirl77 replied to Carriedaway78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right with you...i'm down 51.9lbs. today from May 26. I workout 5 days a week and in the gym for a min. of 90 mins at a time..i'm loosing weight because of the gym.not my band...lol...i have this tool and i want to work with it..but i have no restriction anymore (i did post op)...i can easily eat a 6 inch sub from subway...i'm hungry and choose my food carefully, but i want restriction now! lol..i go down mid sept. for my second fill..and then again first week in nov. for my 6month follow up,so i'm going to ask for a .5cc now,and then see how that works..i have to fly 40mins to see my surgeon so i'm afraid to get overfilled... -

AlaskaGirl77 replied to Mickey527's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon knew from my tests that I had fatty liver prior to surgery. ?I believe is was from the abdominal UltraSound...but I still woke up with my band..thank God! -
Going to fly for first time since banded
AlaskaGirl77 replied to nanarita3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon is six hours from here driving..or a 40 min flight...so i fly down for my fills...i don't find that i'm tighter or anything when flying..absolulty no difference than any other day...i just can't wait until i can fit in my own seat and not need an extender! lol -
I'm a very "want it now" girl...but I'm learning to be patient with the band. To continue to do what I'm supposed to do and it time, with fills,it will start doing what it's supposed to be doing...
-
Hiya! I was banded on 05-26-09. I've only had one fill and go down mid Sept. for my 2nd one. I'm almost there with restriction, but not quite. I work out tons and still bounce around the same 5lbs. I am down 51.1 lbs. today but always want more!! Cannot wait to get under 300lbs..it will be the first time in 8 yrs!~!

AlaskaGirl77 replied to flab2fabdiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried googleing it? I know I read an article written in Australia about it being not so uncommon after the band. I hope you find the answers you need. I'll surf around and see if I can find it again...i did originally get the article off of this bored.. -

My husband is in the military. Our base is covered with fit people. Our gym is free. The first time i walked in I was nervous, but did my best to look like i owned the place...i've been going M-F and some weekends for 2 months now and all of the employees know me and as well as regular gym goers. The first week I acutally had a guy tap me on myshoulder and tell me to keep up the great work. That I ispire him to keep going even when he doesn't want it. Sure there are times when I'm doing an ab workout on the side of the football field where they are running for PT tests, but that passes over, because no one can fault me for being at the gym...I even have a trainer that offered to train me at no cost...so i guess it pays to look out of place sometimes! lol:thumbup:

Mine are free..though I'm Tricare Prime and we do not have to pay for anything...

First visit with my surgeon yesterday, confused...
AlaskaGirl77 replied to Determined Deb's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My surgeon tried to steer me towards bypass. At almost 380 lbs he said bypass would be a more effective option. I was set on the band...and that's what I got...and so far i'm loosing just as quickly with the band as my friend did with her bypass. I HAD GERD prior to being banded...in the 12ish weeks i've been banded I have not had one episode of reflux at all. And have been off my medication since 1 week post op. -
Tricare Approval or Denial??
AlaskaGirl77 replied to JamieNP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My best friend just almost moved to Whidbey Island...she'll be there in 2 months. She's home in WY while her hubby is at recruiter school...im up at Eielson AFB near Fairbanks Alaksa! -
I eat a balanced diet of protien, fat and carbs. I do my best to stick with 3 1 cup meals a day. I do snack on occasion, have birthday cake at parties and still drink coffee. I do work out for at least an hour and that (becuase I do not have restriction yet) is what is keeping my pounds going down. Best of luck to you. IMO it does sound like you need an unfill a lil' bit though..
-
I'm happy and proud, but feel like it's not comming off fast enough. I had great restriction post op,but lost that at 3.5 weeks...I got a fill (small one) and it's still not where I need to be. I workout 5 days a week for min. of an hour. Usually 3.5 mph and a varried incline and then bike about 3 miles a day. I think if I'm not down 10 lbs. in the next month Ill request another fill. I am excited though and am starting to see that this is really going to work!:sneaky:

SWEET SPOT - I am losing very slow
AlaskaGirl77 replied to ta0726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr. *thinks* Im at my sweet spot but I do not. I went for my first fill at 7 weeks post op. I had bounced around the same 4 pounds from 3 weeks post op...he gave me 1 cc (total of 4.5cc) and said that should do me just fine..that i was ahead of the curve and doing well...well,i work my ass off at the gym and have to stop myself at 1 cup of food becuase i can easlily eat that plus snack all day long...i do my best to stop it,but it feels like i don't even have a lap band in! -
Does everyone 'slime' and have 'PB's?
AlaskaGirl77 replied to RobinLB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really not that big of a deal..maybe because at only 2 months out i haven't puked yet.. or pb'd...i have gotten stuck in public, but that passes quickly for me (30 seconds)... -
What's your take or opinion on........
AlaskaGirl77 replied to karenv's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think it's something you and your sergeon should discuss. Those calories are there, being processed. Laxative abuse is not going to take that away. I struggle with bad choices. I just do my best to pick myself up,stop making those choices and working out in the gym extra hard to combat those extra calories I ate. Best of luck to you!
