Hey Shawna! Thanks! Yes I am doing alot better! I had another episode but have realized now that cream corn = the devil! That's what was causing the problem. Other than that I'm doing fine! Joined the gym yesterday and looking forward to fitness! I'm so glad you're getting your strength back. It took about a week or so for me to feel back to myself... and now I feel better than I have in many many years! We went to my nephews baseball game the other day.. .so I totally relate to the ballpark foods. That grill smelled divine.. but I reminded myself... IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!! I haven't really been tempted during this healing phase.. I'm to scared to cheat.. I just hope I can make good food choices after the fill.... as that's always been my problem. I was a carbaholic!!
  3. Hey! I live in Fayetteville, TN but work in Huntsville, AL. I had my surgery 4/24 by Dr. Miles at St. Vincents. Have you been to the Alabama support page? There are several down your way.

    How are you feeling??

    energy levels

I didn't have alot of energy for about a week after it.... due to the anesthesia. I could tell it was more a result of the medication rather than intake. I still got up and walked twice a day about half a mile.. and in the house every hour or so. My body would be so drained that I actually wanted to get up and move around. Then... the more you move around, the better you feel... and going into this I KNEW that I had to increase my exercise so mentally, I looked forward to the walks. Best wishes!!!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

For those of you who are still on mushies.... do you eat 3 oz of mushies and stop? It seems alot more will fit!! I keep saying I'm not getting that hungry but I'm wondering if it's because I'm eating too much. I'm not eating bad stuff... everything is on the list of ok to eat. Like today for lunch I had black eyed peas... but more than 3 oz. Should I be eating ONLY 3 oz. (which is NOT alot) per meal? Then I WOULD be understanding the bandster hell.

    bsbc of alabama

Did your surgeon send in for preapproval? Have you finished all of the surgeon's requirements? I also have BCBS of AL and everything went fine. I haven't seen the EOB for the surgeon but the rest was covered at the percentage they agreed to. (80%) Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Shawna I know you're excited to get them staples out. I sure slept better after they were gone!! I am now able to sleep on my left side without that pulling feeling.. that went on after staples were removed but thank God it's gone now. We had a great weekend in Mississippi with my family. Friday was my first day on mushies and I haven't done so well with that. I did loose(which suprised me.. I figured I would gain when starting them) but have had some pretty painful chest pain every since I started. I emailed Veronica today and she suggested that I go back to full liquids for tonight and talk with Lisa to see if they may have put fluid in when they did the surgery. She said either I'm making bad food choices or may need to remove some fluid (If I do have some fill.. I don't want to remove any of it). I was eating what was on the paperwork but was mixing food together. ex: mashed potatos and mac n cheese. I don't remember them telling us not to do that but it's very possible that they did. So we'll see. Missy.... I think you're doing fine! I was off work for 6 days (including surgery day) and then on my first day back to work, I gave out around 3. Take it slow! Once I was feeling better, I went wild. Riding bikes for 5 miles, walking 2 or 3 times a day... then it all caught up with me. Last Tuesday I was praying God would help me get home alive. I was almost falling asleep at the wheel.. came home and crashed at 5:30 and slept until the next day. So don't over do it. Take your time but do get SOME walking in. How's your gas pain? Port pain? etc... I don't remember reading how your surgery went.

Hey Shawna! This is hilarious! I sooo agree. I would have never showed my stomach to the people who have seen it lately haha! I guess it's pride that we are doing something to get rid of it.. see it while you can haha. I've been out of town this weekend and wanted to check on you. How are you doing now? Pain getting better?

    Insulin Resistance

Hey! Congrats on having a date set and that's awesome that you and your mom are having this together. I think it's encouraging to have someone to walk this journey with you! I have PCOS and it should like that's what your systems are from. I've only been banded 2 weeks so I can't speak on the symptoms going away but I have always been told that with PCOS, you always have the disease but the symptoms disappear as you loose weight. I'm sure hoping this to be true for me!!! I was taking Metformin for the IR and was told by the surgeon to stop taking it after surgery. It took me forever to get my body used to that medication but I was happy to be able to stop taking it!! Good luck! Keep us updated as you go!

Glad to hear from you Shawna! One day at a time you'll get to feeling better and be back to yourself soon! I will start mushies tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it but afraid of gaining at the same time. Food has almost become my enemy lol. As far as the last 10 or so days.. I've been having the VHT Smoothie Extremes (from the apathocary), Carnation Instant Breakfast (no suger added w fat free milk) cream of chicken soup, sf popsicles, sf jello, some juices (when I noticed the carbs I stopped drinking them) tomato soup (wasn't crazy about that) and pro cal 100 pudding (15 grams of protein) from the apathocary. (pretty filling) I purchased some brocolli and cheese soup but never tried it. My meals have been pretty much the same from day 4-14 but thank God that part is about over. I think all the soup, with the sodium in it, was not helping me to loose.
  25. Ok fellow advengers.... what are you doing as far as exercise? How often, for how long and what exactly is it? Up until today, I've been walking about a mile a day. I am 10 days post op today and finally decided I could start back riding the bike. DH and I rode 3 miles.. which was a pretty big deal for me... as it's the first day. It's just too pretty to sit in this house. As limp as my legs are now, I'm ready to go do something. I can't wait to feel like this all the time!! So what did YOU do today??
