My incisions are also red.But my skin is also very white so I dont know if that makes it worse. My surgeon checked mine today and said everything was fine. I think I was told to leave them alone and not to put anything on them........Mine still itch and are a little sore from time to time........

Protien causing pimples?
lacasst replied to PardoBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 2 months out and I'm completely breaking out as well.I was wondering if maybe it was the increased protein intake or the lack of something else I use to eat also? Mine is bad and getting worse.I'm going to ask my Doc tomorrow,I'll let you know what I find out.......... -
Hair loss question: what are we talking here?
lacasst replied to susan1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only a couple of months out but am already noticing the thinning & hair loss! Eeek! I was already thin and now it's worse. My hair dresser even noticed it.She said my hair also seemed very dry.My skin is dry as well.I'm really trying to increase my water and protein.I had previously heard about biotin and was wondering if we could take it.The folic acid I had not heard about,I think I'll try both.Do we have to do chewable or cut in half or can you swallow them whole?I also thought of going shorter to help as well.I agree it does make you insecure. -
I agree I'm only 2 months out and about 39 lbs down but my hubby cant keeep his hands off me......it's so great to feel so close again like when we first met!! And I thought weightloss was going to be the only plus!!

The "protein" in it is always one of my husbands "selling" points when he's trying to persuade me......... -

hi im new don't really know what to expect!
lacasst replied to tammytickulous's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome!! This is a great source of info.I'm newly banded(11/08) but I can already tell you I feel SOOOO much better.I've lost almost 40 lbs and have so much more energy! It will be tough in the beginning but soooo worth it.It's a very new & exciting journey!! My suregeon put me on 2 Protein shakes(worldwide from Trader Joe's)and 1 meal of 3 oz protein & 1 cup veggies before my surgery.I had to buckle down and lose at least 10 lbs or else they were going to cancel my surgery!! I did it and have been losing ever since!! Start get your mind set and start getting use to feeling hungry.I tell you I didn't know real hunger until that 2 week liquid only after surgery. But it is also amazing what you can really do when you put your mind to it!! Good luck & keep us posted.I use to live in Colorado in Denver,I think you said you lived there, what part?? Colorado is soooo beautiful. But were born & raised in Cali.so the weather was a hard adjustment for us!!:cool2: Take care!! -
Just had surgery in Dec 08
lacasst replied to starting again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! Hang in there! It is very rough in the beginning.I'm almost 8 weeks out now and am finally really to start to feel "normal" again.I too had alot of pain & hunger in the beginning. It gets better and easier. I'm still sore from time to time at my incision site and do still experience hunger but nothing unbearable.I have only had 1 fill of .5cc.And am due to see my doc on Jan 14th for another fill.I've lost almost 40 alltogether, they made me lose before surgery 10 lbs. One thing I'm learning is this is a "learning" experience. And you will figure it out.Just hang in there one day at a time and soon the weight will be coming off and you too will be feeling great!! Keep reading the website & asking lots of questions,,there is alot of valuable info here!! Take care & know your not alone we've all been there!! -

Hey all, Just wondering for those of you who have lost the weight what type of meal plans do you try to follow?Do you eat 3 meals no Snacks or 3 meals/2 snacks? Do you measure your food or just try to listen to your body's signals? I'm almost 7 weeks out and still trying to figure it out.I have had only one fill of .5cc.Sometimes I feel restriction and sometimes I dont. It's hard to balance being patient between trying not to overeat and yet feeling satisfied?Hope this makes sense.I gather from what I've read on here that this is a learning process and no two journeys are the same. But some advice from those who have gone on before would help? Thanks!!:tongue2:

lacasst replied to lacasst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the info & tips!! It really helps.I'm gonna try the bars,I had been looking for a protein bar as I'm not a big fan of the protein shakes and I did notice all the calories & sugar........so thanks for that tip.All you that have suceeded are SUCH an inspiration to those of us new to the struggle...Thanks!!:tongue2: -
Why do I keep eating??
lacasst replied to Bamalama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there, Your not alone in this.I'm only 7 weeks & am experiencing the same thing.I too want to eat when I'm not hungry and am craving sweets again! It is scary but this is why we had the band. It's a tool not a cure. But that's hard to remember.I too have decided to be proactive and take charge of what I CAN control and jumped on the treadmill to combat overeating & not the best choices.I try to think of it as "keeping us real" & aware of the battle. It's a constant reminder of us having to work for what we want. And it will be so much sweeter when we get there!! Hang in there you've come along ways already!! Your doing great just keep your chin up!! Take care!!:tongue2: -
Hey everybody, I am about 4 weeks out from surgery and doing pretty well.I have not had a fill yet and I was banded on 11/11/08 and will not be able to be filled until 01/14/09.This will be almost 9 weeks for me.I was just wondering how do you know exactly when you need a fill? How long should you be able to go in between eating? as long as your losing weight are you okay?Any advice would be appreciated. Also did anyone else have a hard time getting in all their Water in the beginning?:tt1:

Banded 12/4 and having a tough time!
lacasst replied to Makenzie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there!! it will get soooooo much better.I'm almost 1 month out and feel like a different person than the first week or so.I too had ALOT of pain, gas and nausea.I also thought it was much worse than I imagined.Just listen to your body & rest! Everyday you will feel a little better! It's tough but so worth it! I'm down over 30 lbs and it is already feeling so worth it.It is definitely and adjustment but just try to relax and you'll be feeling better before you know it.The gas-x strips that melt on your tongue really helped my gas pains.Keep your chin up,were all pulling for ya!!:tt1: -
Just a question I was told by my surgeon not to take advil or tylenol pill form only liquid.Does anyone out there take these in pill form? The liquid is sooo gross!!Any advice??Thanks!!

Day Two and Miserable
lacasst replied to tobytyler11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! I'm 2 weeks out and am here to tell you it WILL get better. The first 4 or 5 days were pretty brutal, alot worse than I expected!! I just saw my surgeon today and am on to pureed or "mushies" and I'm here to tell ya it's a whole different world......so hang in there cause it's going to get better before you know it.Just rest up & listen to your body. Take care!!:grouphug: -
The gauze & tape over the steri strips they told me to try to remove day 2 in the shower,a couple came off no problem the others made me feel nauseated when I pulled so they stayed on a couple more days.I'm 9 days out and have lost my two side steristrips on the small incisions but my big one and the one on top nor the belly buttton are ready. They told me 10-14 days and to let them fall when there ready and I'm in no hurry.Everything takes time is what I'm learning!! Take care!!

Please tell me I'm not always going to be this hungry??I still only on liquids for like another 6 days but it is so rough.I'm getting very irritable with my family & feeling kinda down.Any advise I know you've all either been here or are going to be here soon. Thanks in advance.......

Hey there, I was banded 11/11/08 so I not that far ahead of you.The first 4 days after were the worst for me.I had lots of pain, nausea & gas. It's so hard but you will get thru it.I'm 9 days post op now and feeling soooo much better!!Everyday makes such a difference with the pain & your energy level. Just listen to your body if you feel like walking walk,if you feel like sleeping then rest. You'll get there before you know it! Take care!!
