The cough can cause band slipage or damage to my band?
lacasst replied to Gabband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry everyone is feeling so bad,but glad I'm not alone. This is my second bout being sick in the last month.First strep throat took 5 days antibiotics(tore up my stomach) finally felt better after like a week and a half only to get sick again 3 days ago with horrible cough & congestion! I too have been coughing so much it hurts and is sore. Then I got a fill on Wed w/o even thinking it could make things worse! Oh boy.......I've been miserable & hurting for 2 days. It's very tight and my whole neck, shoulders, chest, abdomen & tummy are sore.Plus I'm still coughing! I'm trying to wait it out but I'm sure not feeling well.......:thumbdown:I think I;ll call my Doc tomorrow to see what she suggest's............... -
Just a question I just had my second fill yesterday and I'm also sick with a bad cold. Was it not a good idea to get the fill while being sick? I have been feeling really bad all day.I feel pretty tight but can still get fluids down.Any advice??
-
Thanks for the advice.I'm doing ok,sipping some warm theraflu as we speak.I'm going to monitor this tomorrow as it's a long holiday weekend coming.I just didn't expect to feel this badly.:thumbdown:I'll definitely call my Doc if anything is worse. Take Care!

BigMomma, Wow great job on your weightloss this far! We had surgery almost the same day.How much did you lose prior to surgery?? -
My surgeon said no anti-inflamatory or ibprofen products for the first year. It's been tough.I had a big "advil-habit" espicially during TOM.But I'm managing.LOL  Just got my first post-band cold too & trying to figure out what I could take was kinda hard for that too.............

Welcome LBT!! Congrats on your upcoming date! I'm almost 3 months out & would not change anything for the world. It took me almost 2 1/2 years to get approved too.......but it is sooo worth it. It was rough in the beginning but now it's smooth sailing so far. It's a huge learning experience but there is tons of great advice & knowledge here. So best wishes to you as you start your "new" life to a thinner & happier & healthier self!! -
Just a question.....I'm almost 3 months out and have started noticing after I eat I sometime's have pain on my left side and around my port area,is this normal? Just wondering if anyone else experience's this?:confused:I see my surgeon next week so I'll definitely ask her as well...........
-
Hey there kickboxer, Does yours seem to get worse in coralation to how much you eat.I'm in need of a fill so have recently been able to eat a little more than normal so I didn't know if that was making it worse. On the "passing gas" issue(sorry to be un-lady like:w00t:) I do that frequently too.....So not sure if that just comes with the territory?? Anywho I'll definitely ask the doc! Take care!

Fill doctors in San Francisco Bay Area?
lacasst replied to boboleo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery & my fills done at Alta Bates summit in Oakland,CA. My surgeon is Dr.Teresa Kim and she's great,I love her! I dont know what the fee's are as I have ins. but you could give them a call.Pm me if you'd like their phone number or more info. -
Hey there.............I'm almost 3 months out and have lost almost 50 lbs and have one fill also so were almost in the same boat,I too feel like I've hit a plateau.......I'm stuck between 207 & 209.I haven't been faithful about exercising so in that respect your one up on me.I have been evaluating my eating habits,I cant really make more than 2 or 3 hours without being hungry so I think I'm in need of a fill. But I also think I've been eating more carbs than protein so I'm trying to work on that. Hope any of this mumble-jumble helps, but at least were not alone......I see my Doc next week so I hoping a little filler-up will help with the hunger!Hang in there!

That"s what I heard too.......1200 calories. It's hard though to get it all in and a pain to keep track of (for me)I'm really consentrating on the protein too because it's important too!Hang in there you'll get there!!

I miss food--but not because I am hunrgy!
lacasst replied to Makulafamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went thru that too.........people would come over and I would love to feed them!! It's like it brings some satisfaction to see other people eat even though you cant.I dont know it is a weird thing to explain. I think it's just weird for food not to be controlling your life anymore!! It's also a huge burden lifted off too.I use to wake up in the middle of the night to eat and now I'm like "gee I'm hungry what should I eat?"It still amazes me when I can stop myself or not even finish something!! I'm loving my band!! -

Didn't get first fill yet
lacasst replied to chriss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3 months out,I got one fill of .5cc at 5 weeks and I had to "beg" the doc for that! He really thought I did not need it as my weightloss was really good.Comparable to a RNY patient per the Doctor. So then I was back at 9 week checkup expecting another fill and due to weightloss my surgeon advised against it.Plus I have had some pbing & sliming. She explained it's almost better to be underfilled then overfilled. They can always add to it.But when it's overfilled you get reflux & vomitting and can strech the pouch more.So after hearing all that I decided to put in slow gear and just enjoy the ride and not try to make it a race. It's hard because after so many years battling & so many failed attempts this actually working put's you on a "high" and you dont want to come down ever! But the doc assured me I'll get there just not overnight!! -
WHy didn't anyone tell me....????
lacasst replied to NoPBJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gentywind, Thanks for the congrats!! Your doing great too! I didn't realize our dates were so close together.Very Cool!! You just made alot of good points that really reinforced things for me.Because you start out so good by the book and then little by little you let your guard down and then it's just all bad from there.....So thanks & have a great day!! -
I'm not quite 3 months out and I had a massage last week,it was mostly an upper back & neck massage but I was fine.I've been seeing a chiropractor for neck adjustments but I told him what type of surgery I had and so far everything has been fine.
