I had the most lovely experience today
lacasst replied to amberd910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's sooo crazy how you can almost know as your swallowing"wow that's gonna get stuck!".It's happened to me quite a few time's but it usually passes very quickly.Lunch meat, cheese & crackers........that's the combo that usually gets me stuck almost every time! I dont know if I'm just too excited or what! LOL ! It's like slow down,it's not your last meal!! Crazy!! -
Weight Loss slowing...trying to stay motivated
lacasst replied to agentcmc13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agentcmc, We are totally in the same boat.Although I had surgery about one month before you.My weightloss was extremely quick in the beginning and now has come to almost a halt. I too am struggling with motivation and feeling kinda lost. Those old habits die hard & sure want to creep back in.I'm been thinking pretty seriously about joining weight watchers just to have a way of tracking my food intake & that way I can take more responsiblilty for my not losing. Hang in there! Your not alone!! -
Should I get a friend to hide my scale for me?
lacasst replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love this! It is soo true.I too was having a horrible addiction to my scale.I've been weighing every day & even sometimes mutiple times in one day. Finally today I said enough! I weighed, wrote it on the calendar and threw the scale under the sink.I'm not weighing until next monday.I cant take the ups & downs anymore!! I feel much better about it now!:w00t: -
Do you get sick of other people.......
lacasst posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it just me or does anyone else find it irritating when others "assume" what you should or should not eat?? or like their watching every bite that goes in your mouth?? or stupid questions like"you can eat chocolate?" .Yes I can,I probably shouldn't but they didn't remove my stomach I just have a band on it!! Soooo irritating!! :rose: I know I shouldn't worry about others but I hate feeling like I'm being treated like a child or an invalid!! -
That would be restriction talking! I get the same feeling.I get chest pain & shoulder pain & back pain when I've eaten too much sometimes it comes 10 mins later after eating. So the trick for me is to stop when I know I should and then I dont get to that miserable over stuffed feeling!

Just a question I just had a fill last wednesday and I've been noticing ever since I've been getting the munchies.I do have some restriction not as good as the first 2 months and I will feel it if I overdue it.But if I'm at proper restriction should I still find myself wanting to munch??Or even with proper restriction do we still have to battle urges like this, like before surgery??:cursing:Any advice.......feeling a little frustrated!! BTW I just started back on birth control this month so I dont know if that could have anything to do with these "new" cravings?

Favorite "post-band" chain restaurant?
lacasst replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down with anywhere I can get breakfast foods, omelets & stuff.I like this place called Mimi's,they have an awesome breakfast quiche!! (dont know how low cal it is?) but it's soo good!!:tt2: -
Mandilou, I totally know what you mean about the cpap machine, they are a b@#$@!!Why do you have to wear it before the surgery? If they know you have sleep apnea why is so crucial for you to wear it? I too had SEVERE sleep apnea.I had to have like 3 or 4 sleep studies. The first one I didn't even sleep at all that night because the machine was making me feel so anxious & like I couldn't breathe. What kind of a mask did they give you? Because I was a "mouth-breather",most people that snore are.The first mask they put on me was a full mask that covered my nose & mouth, talk about freaking out! I actually had the sleep apnea surgery and still had to wear the cpap!! Talk about depressing!! But they finally gve me a nasal pillow mask that just kind of goes in your nose not over it or over your mouth,so much better! And the really great thing is now that I'm 3 months out and down 50 lbs my husband says I'm not snoring or gasping or sputtering anymore!!:w00t:And I cant tell you how happy I was to dismantle that machine and throw it under the bed!! After struggling to sleep with it for 2 years!!:tt2: So hang in there!! I know this soounds bad but does the thing actually have to be on your face to log in the hours? or could you let in run on the nightstand next to your bed??:wink2:Just a thought! I know it's kinda dishonest but desparate times call for desparate measures!!

Thanks Misty!! Those were awesome words of encouragement. You know how sometimes you already know the truth but hearing someone else tell you reconfirms!! Thanks. So hard as a new "bandster" to not get discouraged and I keep waiting for this to fail me like all my other diet attempts!!:tt2:

Does any one have regrets on being banded?
lacasst replied to gottaloseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wannabskinny, Sorry your frustrated & having such a hard time. What does your doc say?Hang in there it's bound to get better.I noticed our dates are around the same time. The first 2 months were pretty easy for me,but now I seem to be stuck at some kind of a plateau.......so hang in there....were all in this together!:tt2: -
8 months out--Need Advice
lacasst replied to Divamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow guys sorry about the frustration......I too am feeling a little frustrated too.I'm little over 3 months out the first 2 months were pretty easy as far as weighloss.I had good restriction & was not all that hungry. Then I got stuck at 207! For like 3weeks to a month.I just got a fill on the 11th,I had a hard time with this fill as I was sick. Now I'm feeling better but not so sure about this restriction. It's like all of a sudden I'm at a standstill and I feel like now what I was or wasn't doing before is not working. I find myself hungrier & able to eat more.I'm looking for Snacks.....it's frustrating.......I dont know if I need to give this fill a little while longer or if I need another one??This is what I was afraid of.......getting stuck! I know I might be getting a little prematuely worked up as some of you have been dealing with this longer but none the less it's still makes you want to pull your hair out!!:tt2: -
Hi Linda, I'm 3 months out and had a recent fill about one week ago.I'm now experiencing chest pain too after I've eaten too much.Wow it can really hurt.:tt2: I'm slowly learning to slow down as well.I guess old habits die hard!:tt2:

Aetna Insureance Denied......
lacasst replied to TulipsRosie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It took me almost 2 years,3 doctor's,6 months weigh-in's,completeing healthy roads(phone counseling program)my ins company changed twice, tons of phone calls, begging, pleading and finally writing a heavy duty tear jerking.........please help me save my life appeal letter!! So dont give up!! persistence will pay off,you know what they say about that "squeaky wheel"!!:thumbup:Plus if it's meant to be it WILL happen.....dont give up on your dream!! -
I originally started out thinking of bypass or gastric sleeve or lap band,I was open.Once all procedure were explained with pro's & con's my surgeon highly recomended lap band for me.Before the band I had SEVERE IBS(I was living on immodium,it was sooooo bad:crying:)He felt the bypass was not good to mess with my intestines since I was already prone to severe diarrhea(sorry if TMI).The sleeve he'd only performed 12.So I didn't want to be lucky #13.Plus the idea of them removing part of your stomach and throwing it away really creeped me out! I have a co-worker & friend who did bypass with the same surgeon 2 weeks prior to me.She has lost more weight than me and alot quicker. She also has been hospitalized for severe dehydration and has problems with low blood work and severe constipation! So there is 2 sides to every story. And one surgery is not right for everyone. I had a sucessful bander tell me that at least when the bypass people stomach streches back out we(banded) can have our's tightened! Made alot of sense to me!! I want a tool that keeps on working for me,the long term is what I'm concerned about not a quick overnight fix!! So we'll see........no regrets for me so far!!:blushing:

I just had gotten a fill and valentines fell on day 3-soft food for me.......so here's how it went down::tongue2: Breakfast-cream of wheat Lunch-cottage cheese Dinner-less than 1/4 bean & cheese burritto with mole sauce! yum! was a little mad I couldn't eat any chips! Oh well!:cursing: dessert-a few nibbles of some delicious homemade valentine sugar cookie!! :tt1: There is always next year!!:thumbup:And hopefully I'll be so darn skinny, dessert will be the last thing on my mind!:blushing:

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
lacasst replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HEy gentlywind, I know before you mentioned of your Doc's aggressive fill strategy.....I'm curious about that as our surgery dates are very close?? PM me if you want.....I just had another fill on this Wednesday (total 4cc's) that was originally pretty tight but now seems looser? I was wondering to if it is time for me to start paying more attention to calorie counting as my weightloss has come to a standstill? Thanks for any advice!! -
Not sure if I should get my 1st fill in 4 days..please help!
lacasst replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take your time and your body will tell you what to do.I too had really good restriction from day one and lost the majority of my weight thus far in the first 2 months.I had one fill of .5cc at 5 weeks. Then all of a sudden in between one visit to the next I was getting hungrier more often and consuming more at one sitting. So when I saw my surgeon last Wed I knew it was time for a fill(I only lost 2lbs from last visit one month prior) So after having an extremely hard time locating my port and being stuck 5 to 6 times(with the fill needle) they found my port. The Doc pull's out 3 cc's? I was told my band was placed empty! And why the other Doc didn't find the other cc's when he gave me the .5cc?? So she gave me back the 3cc's and added 1 cc.So now I have 4 cc's total when I thought I had .5cc!:cursing:Very confusing!! I had a really rough time after the fill.It was super tight.I also had a cold and TOM! So I'll never do that all together again-lesson learned. It's been 4 days and I'm feeling better just waiting to see how this restriction will be and hopefully the scale will start to move again. So take it from me who had that "honeymoon" period of early restriction ride it out and let your body tell you what it needs! Because it will!! This isn't a race!!(I have to remind myself that all the time!!)Just sit back & enjiy the ride!! Great job thus far!! Pat yourself on the back!! :thumbup:Hope all this blabbing helps!! LOL :scared2: -
I know I'm totally in the same boat with the slow to none weightloss. At least your exercising,I'm not even doing that.I've been stuck and haven't lost a lb for at least 3 weeks! I just had another fill on Wed so we'll see....I felt very tight at first but now it seems to be looser again? So I'm keeping my fingers crossed! But I know it is SO frustrating when that scale does not budge! Hang in there & keep up the good work!!
