the day before surgery is very important! make sure you do what your told. We have had patients that eat the morning of surgery and lie about it. This can cause severe problems w/ the stomach being full and also problems w/ anesthesia on intubation. We had one pt. that was getting gastric bypass and the staples did not hold across her stomach because it was full of meat and potatoes. We had to open her and clean it all out! this could have cause her, her life! she was very lucky.

I work in surgery doing lap band procedures and gastric bypass. I also have a band. I would stop killing yourself about what you ate! I has already passed and you need to stop beating up yourself about it. It will be OK! I am sure that you physician has had many people cheat. That is one reason you are getting this procedure to get help! If it was only one day or even a few days it is not going to make a difference and the drink you had will not effect the size of your liver!! We cannot do anything about what has already happened in the past we can only control what we do in the future. I know you will do great and be very successful in loosing weight. I would not even mention this to your surgeon! It will be OK. :clap2:

Caffine promotes hunger!! And no matter how much water you drink a day if you have caffine you will pee it all out and then you could have a problem w/ Dehydration. This is a medical fact!!

I work for three surgeons that do lap bypass and lap banding and I have never heard of anything like the special diet you have been put on. I would go eat Mex. food and not worry about it or say anything about it to the physician. High protein is good because it promotes healing but you ought to be able to eat what you want also.

yes malox is very helpful w/ gas but this is not the kindof gas she is describing. it is from the CO2 used in surgery. and it is not put in the intestine ! it is used to separate all of the internal organs so that the surgeon is able to visualize all the organs while doing the gastric banding otherwise all the organs are all on top of each other and they would be unabe to do the procedure!

the only thing that will help is time; anykind of gas relief products will not help this no matter what people tell you! the pain is from the gas that the surgeons put intraabdominal not in the intestines!! time is the only healing product here! This is all normal and will go away. Maybe try a heating pad for temp. relief otherwise you have to put up with it; and it will be worth it in the long run. this is a very minor thing!

if you are having shoulder pain the only thing that will help is time; it should be gone within 1-2 weeks. Any kind of gas relief products that you are trying will not help; the gas in intraabdominal not in you intestines!! try a heating pad maybe.?? but give it time, it will go away.

when you are unable to even drink water you have a total gastric obstruction that needs to be taken care of ASAP; go to the ER!!!!
