Help! No loss since July...& now gaining...

Your story is my story. I lost more on the preop diet then I have being banded. It's been a rollercoaster ride for sure. I am stuck at the 250 mark - I go back and forth with 245 and can't seem to make it move lower. I need to log my foods I think that will help. Anyways, good luck!

8 months banded and I'm still learning

Thanks for posting this! I don't feel so alone with my issues. I get stuck often and sometimes - not often - it makes me throw up and it always is when I'm eating really healthy...but give me bad food - like chips and I have absolutely no problems. It's been a frustrating road for me so far. The weight loss has been so slow and I don't really feel any restriction. I'm stubborn and haven't been back to the dr since November. I know I need to go soon. I am exercising though - I have NEVER enjoyed it in my life but I joined a gym about 3 months ago and I love it!! I feel like I'm really doing something for myself when I go. Anyways, thanks for the post!

    33 hoping to be banded

Wow Selswick you just put a mirror of my life. I am 33yrs old, married, one 14yr old daughter. 3 cats. Started January 1 at 304lbs, 5'8". Had the surgery on May 18, 2009. I now weigh 244lbs. I lost a lot during the preop and the weight loss after surgery hasn't been as great as I thought but I never regret it. I was on several meds, I've been taken off of almost all of them already. Went from a size 28 to currently an 18. Life is very good! It's a long learning process but so worth it!!

    HAIR HELP!!!!!!!! (finally an answer!)

Thanks for this post...I was beginning to panic. I was losing so much hair I literally had a trail everywhere I went. I started the Biotin about 3 weeks ago and it slowed down almost immediately. It's back to the normal shedding amount. Also, my dr said the first 6 months its typical for a surgery patient to lose hair as well. The Biotin has worked great!!!

    Lets Celebrate !!!!!

I've had a few great nsv lately. 1 - I went to my daughter's open house and I could sit comfortably in the desk. Previous years this has been a stresser for me because I was just too big to sit at them. 2 - Buying size 18 jeans and loving the way they are making me feel - only bought a few because I don't plan on staying there long. (Started at a size 28). 3 - Being okay with sitting at a booth at a restaurant. Before it was always a table because my tummy would be pressed against the table. There are so many more but that's a few that help remind me of the life change I've made.
  6. I had my first fill today! I was so nervous and worked up and it was NOTHING!! Just a little needle that didn't hurt at all I'm glad to report! I have a 10cc band and I just found out that the dr put in 4cc at surgery (I thought I didn't have any). The nurse put in .7 today - I of course wanted more. I am on full liquid for 2 days, soft foods 1 day then regular diet. So far I can't tell anything but I've only been drinking. Thanks for starting this thread - it's been really helpful!!! So 4.7cc and I have an appointment in 1 month.
  7. I'm a comfort food type of gal. Deserts don't bother me at all. My number one food that I will miss is mac n' cheese. I hope I will eventually be able to enjoy it in extreme moderation. Number 2 missed food will be Friday night pizza. Did someone say we can't have spicy???? Say it isn't so. I love hot sauce on just about everything. I will miss that severly if I'm not able to have it!!

Has anyone else stopped losing weight?

I'm on soft foods this week and I have lost 2 of the 5lbs I gained while on full liquids. I have decided to stop being obsessed with the scale because it was adding frustration for me. I will weigh myself once a week and go from there. It's getting better. I get my first fill on June 19th...I'm so ready!!
  9. I've had a reaction in the past to the tape so my Dr applied glue and I've been fine. It's been 2 weeks and all the glue just fell over the weekend.

    Getting back in the sack...

We waited 6 days. I didn't have a time restraint on my orders - just when you start feeling better I felt the port kind of pulling if I moved wrong - same as everyone else I apply a little pressure and it goes away. It's gotten better though, less and less pain.

Has anyone else stopped losing weight?

I'm having the same problem! I've been banded for 2 wks and the first week I dropped 10lbs and then I gained 5 back but I've been very strict following the diet my dr gave me. I'm frustrated. I go for a fill on 6/19. I'm ready for it.
  12. It's probably gas. They had to blow your stomach up to do the surgery. Mine was very painful for about 4 days. I took Gas X strips to help and then switched to Maalox to take the edge off. That mixed with heating pad and walking as much as tolerated will help you. Congrats on making the decision to do this!
  13. I stuck with my preop mostly. I had to be on it for 2 1/2 weeks. Once about a week in I had one "last meal" at my fav restaurant. Other than that I was very strict. Lost 15lbs on it. I'm 1 1/2 week out and have been following my post op diet because I'm paranoid not too. I start mushies on Sunday and I couldn't be more excited!

How Did You Make The Decision??

I had to take 9 pills a day to be "normal" then my doctor wanted me to do a sleep test for sleep apnea...I'm 33...that was my final straw. She already removed me from all but 1 pill. This is worth it. It's not a miracle, quick fix - you have to do the work and it helps as a tool. Go for it!
  15. I had my surgery on the 18th of this month. I had 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th thoughts about having this.:crying: Now that this is done I know it's right for me, I've changed my attitude a lot about food, not to say I won't have many more battles to go through! I had to go through 6 months of dietician visits and it was all worth it - i lost weight during this and adjusted my thinking. These forums help...just read, read, read and then ask what you need cleared up. Good luck to you.
  16. My first week per my dr's instruction was 1-2 protein shakes, clear broth, sf popsicle and jello. I couldn't get through the hunger without them - the cramping and rumbling stomach was too much too take - plus I was getting dizzy and light headed. I know it will get easier soon and I'm ready for that!
  17. Today is my 7th day out from surgery...and I was hungry from day one. They claimed I wouldn't be hungry for the first week. I have gone up to 3 shakes a day instead of the 2 they recommended. (I talked with the nurse to make sure it's okay). That has helped some. Start my 2nd week diet tommorrow and have never been so excited for pudding and cream of chicken Good luck.

    Mayo Bandito's dates only

    May 18th was my day!!
  19. When did you have the surgery? Dr Hollis is my dr too, I am about 3 wks away from my last visit before we go to insurance approval. How did you like him?

  20. Did you ever have any success getting a group together for Sugar land? I live here and I will hopefully be having the surgery in May. I am having my 5th out of 6 appt.s tomorrow.

Dr. Ken Hollis in Houston, TX

Yes, I'm going through True Results. I have my 5th visit on Friday so I'm on my way. I figure May because I'll have to actually meet the surgeon and wait for insurance final approval. I think that's the only part of this process that I don't really like - I went to another dr's seminar but he's only doing surgery in Dallas now so they switched me to dr hollis. On a positive note, I've read good things about him so far though.
  22. Congratulations on your banding? How did everything go. Please spare no details regarding dr Hollis, he will be doing my surgery in a couple of months. Good luck!

Dr. Ken Hollis in Houston, TX

When are you having your surgery? Ken Hollis is my surgeon as well. I haven't met him yet - I'm on number 5 out of 6 weight loss visits so far for my insurance. Do you live in the houston area? I live in Sugar land. I'm just trying to find inspiration on these sites that I'm making the right decision.
