Haven't posted in a while gang, sorry. I have been a little frustrated with the whole process. But, I am starting to have a better outlook on things. I go today for my second fill. My surgeons office was quick to make pre-op appts but are not very supportive of Post-op appts. First fill was at 6 weeks, and havent been able to schedule appt for 2nd fill til 7 weeks after that. When I called after 3 weeks of not feeling any restriction they told me to call my nutritionist and speak to her. I am eating the right things, what does that have to do with getting the band? I went through this process for a reason, for some HELP. I think I am obsessing way too much about the band and not just stepping back and looking at the big picture. My first fill was 5cc's. I am going to ask for another 2cc's today and see how that goes. Looking at everyones stats, WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL!!!!:clap2: :clap2: We have to take this one day at a time, one bite at a time. I keep telling myself that no matter what I will never be where I was prior to surgery AGAIN. Thats a good thing. Keep up the good work and stay focused.

You can check out CHRIAS. There are a few surgeons in that office and they do fills. I am a patient of Dr Irgua. They are located on Route 4 by Delaware Park. Good luck.

Well the scale is still not moving for me and I still feel no restriction at all, but I am continuing on. :faint: I feel like my clothes are fitting differently and people tell me that they notice a difference, but the scale isnt moving:confused: . I don't go back for my second fill til the 24th but until then I will me pushing on. I am trying to get in all of my protein every day and drinking my water. I have made a few bad choices here and there but nothing major. This is most definitely by far been the hardest DIET I have been on. No real structure, no Plan so to speak. But each day is a new adventure. We will do this. One day at a time.:clap2: :clap2:

Any Delaware Bandsters out there!!!
kimsretro replied to Dimples0323's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had one fill 5cc and still feel no restriction. I dont have another appt til the 24th. I am not pleased with the Drs office when it comes to appts for fills. I had the first one on the 12th of July and i have tried to call back to get a fill with no help. How about you, how are you making out? -

Hello there, I too am from Delaware. I live in the Prices Corner area. Welcome. I was banded on June 2nd. -
Boy wish I felt some restriction. Had first fill at 6 weeks 5CC's and still NOTHING. Not one speck of restriction. Go back on the 24th will have them put in 2 more CC's. Hope that helps.

Medic Alert Bracelets - Are they recommended?
kimsretro replied to Diva Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you buy the medical ID tag with holes at both ends you can find alot of great bracelets to attach to them. Alot of different places now sell these watch heads that you can attach different bracelets to and those bracelets work great with the ID band. (gee did that make any sense?) I have found some at Hallmark, Avenue, Cracker Barrel all over really. -
The have the best fudge bars in the world. Its something like Simply Creations or something.....OMG sooo yummy for a choc fix.

I dont think I ever really understood the whole NO SUGAR deal. Can someone help me with that? Thanks:help:

Ok I thought the first fill would help, BUT NOTHING. I dont feel any different today then the day that I went in for surgery. I am trying not to get discouraged but its so hard. I feel like I have to do it ALL by myself, that the surgery hasnt offered any support. I knew that I would have to work WITH my band, that it would offer itself as a tool in this journey, BUT never did I think that I would go through all of the Pre-op visits and the surgery to get NOTHING. My dr requires you to wait 6 weeks between your first fill and your second. Sorry I sound so depressing, just feeling a little off today. THanks for letting me rant.

I went to the dr today for my first fill. I have the vangaurd band. The dr told me that he is usually aggressive with the first fill and that if I had problems I could come back for an unfill. He put in 5cc not .5, 5 whole CC's. Has anyone else had such a progressive fill right off? I do feel restriction. Kim

I went to the dr yesterday for my first fill. I have the vangaurd band. The dr told me that he is usually aggressive with the first fill and that if I had problems I could come back for an unfill. He put in 5cc not .5, 5 whole CC's. Has anyone else had such a progressive fill right off? I do feel restriction somewhat, but still on liquid/mushies. I guess the true test of restriction will come tomorrow when I can eat solids. I am excited about moving on with this stage. I think we are all working really hard for our health and think we can succeed. Glad to be a part of such a great group of friends.:clap2: Have a great day.

I am having my first fill next week. I too also have a Vangaurd band. When I asked my dr what his intention was for a first fill he said 5cc. Said they try to be aggressive the first fill and if its too tight they can take some out.

I was a little discouraged yesterday. I had my 4 week post op check up. And had only lost 1 pound since 2 week check up. OH WELL, what can ya do? But I made my appt for my first fill July 12th. YAHOO. I feel pretty good overall. The hormone inbalance is kicking my butt, I have had my period 2 times this month....UGH:mad: But the doc told me that will balance out. Glad everyone is doing so well. We can do this.

I dont know about anyone else, but I am totally disgusted with myself. I feel absolutely NO restriction at all. I was having a bad bad day and I literally ATE the whole day. Anything that I saw I ate. I had been doing so well. I had a few hard boiled eggs the other day, But nothing like today. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I have been crying all night. I know that this is going to take work, but I was hoping for SOME type of restriction. Anyone else having these issues? :help:

I know there have to be some people out there who have had this procedure done or considering it. I would like to chat with others. Kim :clap2:

Hey gang, just a quick update. Surgery went well. I was 3rd in line in a group of 6. I have to say the worst part for me is the air in the stomache. Incisions are bruised some but feel fine. I have been walking alot the past 2 days. I wish that the air would go away then i would feel fine. 3 of the other girls having the surgery were just not ready. One ws complaining she could leave the hospital and go and have steak and eggs, the other was complaining that she hasnt lost any weight. Its amazing to me how poeple can be so niave. Will update more later.

I am scheduled to have surgery in the morning, and guess what, I started my period a week early. Did anyone else have their TOM during surgery? What did you do? :help:

I dont understand how the body doesnt lose weight being in the liquid stage. I am on liquids for 4 weeks. I would think that I would be losing weight. But then I see all the comments that people gain, or maintain until they get a fill. :help: I dont understand. I must be missing some part of the equation. LOL

My dr. has a 2 day pre-op diet. Today is day one. Not so bad so far. I am really excited now. I just got my last clearance this am. Its been a roller coaster ride. Thanks to everyone for all of your support. You guys and gals rock!!!!:clap2: :hail: Best of luck to everyone. Will check in after my surgery.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!! BE SAFE. I have a few functions this weekend and then Tuesday I start the liquid pre-op diet. YUMMY!!!:hungry: Kim

Well I just heard from the Hosp and Surgeons office who told me not to reschedule my date so I am still on for June 2nd. I have to do pre-op diet for 2 days prior. But I plan on starting on Monday. My daughter has been an angel through all of this. She has been putting inspirational poems in my purse, walking with me, she even gave up soda with me so I wouldnt have to do it alone. She is 15. She told me today, dont worry Mom, Daddy and I will take care of everything at the house and I will even cook dinner. She is a great kid. Hope everyone is having a great day.

DISCOURAGED I just received a phone call that I have to have a second sleep study done, so it looks like my surgery is going to be postponed. UGH:faint: I know that its good to get this taken care of now, but I know that if I were having any other surgery, they would not do a sleep study. So I think I will still be a Junebee, but just a few weeks later. :angry I am feeling a little down today. I was on a high for a few weeks and this news just was a big blow. I started this process on April 8th and have had alot of luck with dr appts getting done pretty quick. So I shouldnt be too concerned, but its in my nature....LOL Well thanks for letting me rant. Have a great day.:biggrin1: Kim

OMG I am so excited for all of us. My dr doesn't really require a pre-op diet just 2 days of Clear liquids prior. I feel like I have such a long road ahead of me. But I know I can do this. I feel like this is my time. I have been someones caretaker my whole life and its time for me to take care of me. I want to try to get some of this weight off before my 40th birthday next year. My email addy is kimsretro@comcast.net Have a great day:clap2:  Kim
