Hi! My name is Blair and I just turned 29 (female) Sorry it's a weird time I just couldn't sleep! I was banded yesterday! And I was like you excited but very nervous! I also had never udergone surgery! Never been put to sleep or anything! I was actually suppose to have my surgery April 27th and was sooo nervous about being put to sleep I chickened out and cancelled it! Luckily my time hadn't run out and I didn't have to start all back over when I finally decided I really wanted to do it! I don't know about your goal weight loss but mine is like 60lbs at the max...so I had a lot of people confusing me saying that I didn't need it (not bragging) cause according to the "WII" game I am in the "obese" precentile! I am 5'6 213lbs But I am one of those solid kinda people, if you see what I am saying. I was atheletic and a size 6-8 10 years ago when I graduated highschool!! So...that naturally is my goal to be back to that atheletic woman instead of this "couch potatoe!!" LOL Anyway, I just wanted to tell you my story to try and help! Oh, and like I was so stoked and ready when I went in and was fine not nervous a bit! When I woke up I sqawled!! Cried like a baby! Thanking the Lord that I was awake and alive! I was that worried! But it was weird because I was perfectly fine before the surgery, laughing and cutting up with the nurses! But anyway, if you need anyone to talk to, just send me a message! Oh and it's not as bad as you are thinking, like I said I was banded yesterday! And my Doc actually chose the "Realize" band for me once he did the surgery. I don't really think there is a a lot of difference. He just said he wanted me to be able to eat more meats and vegtables!?? But anyway, I am not really that sore just a little and not that hungry! Just take the pain meds they give you even if you don't think you need them. Just my opinion! Anyway, sorry this is so long! Just wanted to give ya a little encouragement! Mine is June 15th!!! I am an excited nervous wreck also!!!! I have like 8 days!! I was suppose to have it April 27th but I chickened out!! LOL So I called back and rescheduled it! I have never been put to sleep before so that's why I am NERVOUS!! Well I have had a colonoscopy but that's it! Maybe we could keep in touch to help and encourage each other!!

April 27th here...really nervous!! Never had surgery before or never been put to sleep!!!! I had a friend come up to me yesterday trying to talk me out of it because she said she knew ppl that had died from this surgery! I about DIED!! Scarred me so bad I went home and researched the percentages of deaths with Lapband!! I am still going through with it because I have Jesus in my heart and on my side!!

I go for my pre-op appointment on the April 5th and surgery on the 27th!! I am REALLY nervous! I talk and respond to people on here but they don't RESPOND back!!?!?!?!? Anyway, good luck to all!:frown:

Ok...I just scheduled my surgery for April 27th...kinda excited and kinda scared!!! The biggest thing I am worried aboout is excess SKIN!!! Can anyone advise or give an opinion!! Thanks

I am really considering lap band and I am needing some pro's and con's...I have never had surgery! And I like to eat! I am needing feedback on if I need to do this or not! I am 28 and about 214, 5'6...In 2000 when I graduated I was @150lbs. and active in 3 different sports! Well I hate to exercise, and I am thinking that if I have the surgery it will get me over this hump and give me the incentive to want to exercise!?!?!? Those of you that have had Lap Band please help! Kinda scared about the disadvantages!

I just went for my consultation on Monday and we just went over what test and paperwork I had and what I needed. So...I have to have a few more test and 1 more diet visit..so i say get all your stuff together then they can send it to the insurance then...just my opinion!

I went to a lap band seminar on Monday and the doctor there said he had a girl come to him wanting to get her fills from him and had had her surgery in Mexico. I don't know how he knew I think she said she was able to eat just like normal so he checked her out. Come to find out they put in her portal but didn't put in the band! Something about there financials system there...there was no way she could sue or get her money back! She was just out of that $. That is really the only thing I have heard about Mexico lap band! Hope this helps you make your decision...kinda like that saying if it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't! :biggrin:

Hang on! I am looking into LapBand in Mexico...You have to quit smoking before you have this surgery??

Hey! I want to go to Mexico so bad....but I am only 40-50 overweight...everyone says Mexico is nasty and not to do it. ?????
