  1. Hi. I just had my second fill and I would just like to know if this is typical for anyone. It seems that for me once I have had my fill, every meal thereafter for at least the first two weeks are just a few bites. Maybe three hours later, I need to have a very small snack, etc... I am satisfied and losing weight which I am loving. This band takes a little getting used to, it is not as easy as I had thought it would be, but the weight is melting off. One thing though, I never enjoy a meal like I used to. It's not even about the portion size, it's about really sitting down and enjoying the food. Now it's just about a few bites and you're done with it.

    easier to eat at night

Thanks to everyone for all their input. This website and all the wonderful people help make this weight loss much easier. It's great how everyone helps each other along the way!! Thanks again everyone.
  3. I just recently had a fill of 2cc's and had no restriction. My doctor said to come back in if I was hungry and he then added another 1cc, two days later. I feel the restriction finally, but am uncomfortable eating especially in the morning. As the day wears on, I am able to eat a little better. I feel discomfort in my chest (although I am eating small amounts extremely slow) like it is stuck, although it is not stuck. Anyone else feel like this? I am also just starting to realize the foods that I can't eat even though I have chewed and chewed....
  4. I just had my first fill and it was 2cc in a 10 cc band. I know ultimately that the goal is to not be hungry, but right now, between meals or if I go too long between eating, I am starving. Is this normal? I eat the right amount protein and veggies until I am satisfied, but about 2 1/2 - 3 hours later I am so hungry.

    tight after second fill

I just had my second fill today. My first fill was 2cc in a 10cc band. I had no restriction and was always starving. Today they added 1 cc, so in total 3cc. This is much different than the first fill. It is harder to eat now, and when I have tried solid food, it is agony and my mouth gets all slimy. I am chewing and chewing, but it is still hard. Soup goes down fine. I can drink liquids fine also. Just wondering, over the next few weeks, does it get easier to eat solid foods, or do you think I am too tight?
  6. Hi everyone, I am 6 weeks out and I feel like I never even had the surgery done. I started out really well, eating only the right foods, small portions, and little by little I can eat more. Not a whole lot more like before my surgery, but more than I am supposed to. I also have started to eat more and more like I used to. My surgeon says this is very typical and is to be expected until we start to get our fills. It is still hard though, I can't stay on a diet and this is what got me here in the first place. We just have to be patient and hope in time with the fills that our hunger is suppressed and we eat smaller portions. Good luck everyone
  7. I had my surgery on 11/10 and was on post op diet for about 1 week and a half. Since then I have lost about 11 lbs. Now I am eating and haven't had my first fill yet. I am trying to stick to the 1/2 cup rule and making healthy choices but I haven't lost any weight since the initial liquid diet. I am now worried that even when I get my first fill, what if I don't lose the weight then? How can it be so different then when I am eating the diet (1/2 cup of food each meal) now? Was all this for nothing? I get my first fill next week.

    stuck in limbo

I feel exactly the same as you do. Hopefully we will notice a difference when the band is filled. Like Jack had said that we won't be hungry, I look forward to that feeling because right now it doesn't even feel like I have a lap band. My doctor had told me that I would start to feel like eating was a bother since you aren't even hungry. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope so. Good luck to everyone and I would like to thank everyone for all their help. Without this website, it would be a long and lonely road.

    Post op diet phases

I was starving at week 2 and could no longer do the liquid diets, and I talked to my doctor, he told me to go ahead and eat, just take it easy and try to stick to the softer foods. So, I eat soup, and basically at this point until I get my first fill 12/11, I follow the weight watchers diet for the food, but I still follow the directions of no liquids with meals. I lost 12 lbs so far and feel great! Everyone should talk their own doctor and tell them they are hungry. It will get better, hang in there.

    Post op diet phases

Hi. I was banded on 11/10 and I had no problem the first week with the clear liquids, and the second week with the full liquid diet, I lasted about 3 days. I was starving!! I had a post op appointment with my surgeon, and I told him I was hungry, so he said eat. I went from full liquids to regular foods that quick. I don't recommend this for everyone, but it is working for me.

    stupid question

I am newly banded and I have a question - what is PB and slime? I see some people talk about this, I have no idea what they mean. Thanks!

  14. Hi Everyone! I just had my lap band surgery yesterday, and I am so excited to get started with my weight loss journey. I just have wondered, I am having only clear liquids this week, can I have too many liquids? too much broth? Thank you.

    Hi there from Connecticut :)

Hi everyone, I am also from Ct - Greenwich and I was just banded yesterday at Greenwich Hospital. It looks like every doctor and everyone's approvals are so different. I made appointments with all the doctors needed, my paperwork was then sent in and I had my approval within 1 week, surgery was scheduled 2 weeks later. Maybe it's worth the ride to Greenwich to get it done.
  16. Hi everyone, I was just banded yesterday and feeling great today and very excited to get going with this weight loss. A little sore today and tired but very happy.
