Just wondering about the chance of getting approved without the 6 months of supervised dieting? I have a BMI of 54 for more than 5 years. I haven't really done any dieting since the birth of my son. He will be 2 in April. Thanks.

Thank you Mr. Green. I know I need to work on the liver issue too. I just really want to combine the 2 surgeries so I hopefully won't ever have surgery again. It's hard not to be impatient.:frown:
  3. My OB/Gyn will be performing a total abdominal hysterectomy with the general surgeon on standby. He's the one that suggested we do the LapBand at the same time and the surgeon has agreed. I am switching to my husband's insurance to get the LapBand covered so I'm not sure what we are in for with insurance procedures. Hopefully it will go quickly. I can't put off the hysterectomy much longer. Good luck!

    Hello everyone

Good luck. I should be a month behind you. Maybe we can stick out the wait together. I want to try to get my body in gear before I have it done.
  6. I haven't been banded yet but wanted to tell you that you're not a failure. Like the previous poster said, you are just beginning and you've taken a huge step by having the procedure done. You'll get there, just take one day at a time.
  7. Wow, your post is very inspirational. I was wondering in reading if this was the right choice for me and you really put everything in perspective. In other words for me it means this isn't a quick fix. I've got to dedicate myself and between the band and my dedication hopefully I'll reach my goal. Congrats to you on your goal! Thank you again!
  8. My name is Lesley. I am waiting to get banded in January 09. My dr suggested it to me because I will be undergoing a total abdominal hysterectomy and he said that the surgeon that was on standby was certified in doing the lapband and that I was a candidate for it. He checked with the surgeon to make sure it won't be too much surgery for my body and the surgeon said it would be fine. So, I'm putting it off for 2 reasons. The first being that this is a very busy time of year at the Firm I work for and the second is that my insurance will not pay for it so I'm transferring to my husbands insurance during open enrollment on January 1st. His will cover it if it's deemed medically necessary and both my OB/GYN and Family doctor have recommended it. And they both said to do it while I was already having surgery. So I'll probably be lurking a lot. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm doing it for me but also for my family. I want to enjoy my children and be able to do things with them that I'm limited to right now.
