Okay, so I'm unable to keep any food down, but I'm not sure it's because of a fill, since I had my last fill on New Year's Eve. Everything's been fine up until now. My stomach is gurgling big time...nothing hurts, though. I couldn't keep anything down yesterday, but I kept trying, so my throat is a little sore from throwing up most of the day. Today, I tried to take it easy and just have liquids, but I've been nursing this Slim Fast for the past 3 hours and I still have over half of it left. I'm sliming big time too. Anybody have any ideas? It's just so weird, and I'm weak from not eating anything. Hoping this is just temporary....

Any ideas? First real problem
TiffanyPink replied to TiffanyPink's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I though my dh would have to take me to the hospital. I couldn't swallow my own spit. I was filling up a spit cup everytime I turned around. Today, however, things seem to be better. Still gurgling a lot, but I'm keeping liquids down!!! I called my doctor and he said I'm probably swollen and he wants me on liquids for a few days. I can handle that. I feel so much better even being able to swallow Water. You guys really know your stuff. I lurk on these boards a lot and the suggestions and information is so helpful. Thanks! -

Thanks for the responses! I'm able to drink a little bit of Water, but then I just start sliming again. My dh just made me some hot tea. I hope that will help. My doc gives his patients his cell #, so if this doesn't get any better by tomorrow, I will call him. To be honest, I'm really afraid he'll want to do an unfill, and this last one I got on New Year's was the one that actually has been the best. I think I finally reached my sweet spot, and I'm afraid to lose it. I know, it sounds really bad to say, but that's how I feel. I'm just hoping that it's temporary and whatever's stuck (if that's what it is) just makes its way out and I can go back to normal. I really appreciate the replies, guys! It makes it so much easier knowing there are people who know what I'm going through -

Paisley, another Springs patient! I'm off Powers and North Carefree. Thanks for the info about the fill. I was supposed to go to the Melting Pot on Saturday night, but it looks like I won't be doing that, if I'm on liquids for 2 days. Oh well, there will be another time, I'm sure. -

Does anyone know if Dr. Chae recommends liquids for a few days after a fill? I'm getting my first one on Friday and I want to know what to expect. Thanks! -

Woo hoo! Glad to hear it! I'm going next Friday at 10am for mine. Do you know when the next support group is? Is anyone on here going? -

I do have Chae's cell. Guess what? I left a message with Pam, saying that I was having more problems with Susie, and within 5 minutes Dr. Chae called me back directly to schedule the appointment. They seriously need someone who just answers the phone. Anyway, yes, it's awesome to see such great results. I'm nervous now, however, because my first fill is next Friday and I have two parties that weekend. It will be a real test of my band, and I hope I can remember all the rules. -

Congrats on your weight loss! I'm doing really well too, 19lbs since 7/27! I've actually been trying to schedule my first fill as well. It's driving me NUTS. I have never dealt with an office as frustrating at this. What makes me nervous is that if it's this hard to schedule a fill, what happens if there's an emergency and I need an unfill and need an appointment fast? I can't wait weeks to just talk to someone. I'm actually about to call Pam again (right now) and let her know Susie is slow to respond (again). Her number is:303-903-2930. She will get back to you. Good luck! -
I am 8 days post-op and so far so good. One thing, however, is really troubling. Does anyone get hot flashes after surgery? I'm only 32, so I'm pretty sure it's not pre-menapause (and I never had it happen before surgery), but if I'm running around and maybe a bit stressed, once I stop, I start sweating buckets...I mean buckets. After I settle down, I go back to normal and sometimes even get cold, but the hot flash stage is really annoying and messes up my makeup!! Anyone else?

Pam is the Bariatric Program Director. I'm pretty sure she's over Susie. She did mention that Susie is not the best at returning phone calls, and she sent her an email about calling me back and copied Dr. Chae on it. Yes, they need someone in the office, that does nothing but answer the phone. I was almost about to switch surgeons because of the lack of support. But I really did like Dr. Chae, and now I'm glad I stayed. I will definitely go to the next support meeting! -

One thing I've learned in the past few days is call PAM the program director. I have her cell if anyone needs it. It's also on Dr. Chae's website. She lit a HUGE fire under Susie and Susie called me back at 8:30 LAST NIGHT. So, I'm finally scheduled. July 27th! Sooooo excited, but nervous. I live in the Springs, but I want to attend at least one support group before I have the surgery. 22 lbs since May 18th? AWESOME!!!! I hope to have similar results! -

Hi, I just got approved for the surgery on Friday!!! So excited!!! Having problems reaching anyone to actually schedule the surgery, however, has anyone else experienced the same thing? -
Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I have finally decided that this is the tool that I need to change my life. I have BCBS Federal Basic and I just had my Psych eval today. My surgeon (or maybe BCBS) requires 2 years of medical records. No problem there. Finally, I have a 5 hour nutrition class on Sunday. After I've finished the class, I will have done all my requirements and they say they will submit to BCBS. So, hopefully, it won't take too long before I'm approved. Now that I've decided this is what I want--NEED to do, I'm so antsy and ready to get this started! Good luck to all!!
