    Aetna Open Access Plus Plan...Anyone??

    I was wrong everyone! My husband just changed our Aetna plan and now they cover 100% so they do cover it all! Oh and as of 3/9 I was told by Aetna that my surgery is approved by them! I am so thrilled! Per their website aetna considers the following comorbidities Coronary heart disease; or Type 2 diabetes mellitus; or Clinically significant obstructive sleep apnea (i.e., patient meets the criteria for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea set forth in Aetna CPB 004 - Obstructive Sleep Apnea); or Medically refractory hypertension (blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg systolic and/or 90 mmHg diastolic despite optimal medical management);
  3. Hi There! Besides the part about being a mother, I do not have kids, it sounds like we have and are living the same life lol. I'd love to walk you through everything if you need any help. We are the same age too and I love meeting people my own age. You should take a look at my profile...I have kept a pretty detailed timeline of my journey from the day I went to my seminar. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! Welcome!
  4. This sounds ultra confusing....my hospital has a whole program you must go through and a phsych eval is all part of that. I have not had to pay for anything required before surgery. BUt I do have Aetna and was approved yesterday for the surgery so if you have any q's I'd be happy to help.

    Aetna and "long-standing" obesity -- Hmmm...

    Approved! Yay!!!!!!! I called my doctors office and they said they had not gotten the letter yet so I called Aetna again and asked and she looked it up and said of of 3/9 I was approved for the surgery!!!!!!
  9. I have not had my lapband yet.......I am waiting for them to give me my surgery date, I think it will be in April. I know I am jumping the gun a bit... I am young so I am not sure I will need lipo/tummy tuck but I may want it anyway lol. I don't know how much skin will bounce back. I was hoping this could be a thread for people to post what they are having/had done and the cost of the procedure to give people an idea of the costs who are not being covered by insurance! Thanks everyone! :laugh:
  10. That is awesome! I am so happy for you! You must be starting to feel like a new woman!

    Aetna and "long-standing" obesity -- Hmmm...

    Um, I'm not really sure what the actual date was that my surgeon sent the paperwork to Aetna, but I received a letter from Aetna dated 2/27 requesting additional documentation. My surgeon sent that paper work after receiving the request and now the answer is on it's way! I am hoping it's an approval! Let me know how it goes for you!

They didn't tell me though! So now I have to wait till Monday to see! Hopefully the letter will have reached my doctor by then!

    Diverticulosis

    hi there, my mom has it....she does not have lapband she cannot eat popcorn, anything with seeds, nuts. those are the primary things. evrything else i think is on a person to person basis
  17. I have decided not to tell anyone I am getting the Lap-band. The only ones who know are my mother, father, and husband and that is because I live with my folks and lol how can you not tell your husband lol. I am just really frustrated today. I want so badly to share my excitment with someone, but I just know deep down if I start telling I won't get the reaction I want. I know my family and friends too well. My husband doesn't try to talk me out of it, but he isn't excited. My mom worries about everything so she asks me everyday if I am sure about this. Then my dad doesn't say anything. I THINK he feels that it is an easy way out. I'm not one to care what others think, I really don't care what they say/think, I just wish I had someone face to face to chat about this with. Does anyone else who has made the same decision not tell tell ever feel this way????????
  18. In some way I think I also don't want to tell people because I want certain people to think that I did do it on my own. Does that make sense? I'm this strong independent woman and I feel like this is the only thing I have no been able to defeat on my own. I don't know what I am going to tell work yet. Every once in a while I will make a comment to certain individuals that I might have to have a surgery but I say it so casually that no one asks. I have PCOS so I think I will just tell my boss (who is female) that I have cists that need to be removed. I think I'm looking at a April Surgery although that isn't air tight just yet.

    The Little Energizer Bunnie

    I see my dietician every 4-6 weeks like many of you I am sure. I actually love going, she is always giving me great ideas. I always look forward to the next set of changes she has me implement into my daily life. I am currently eating 3oz of lean protein at each meal as well as veggies and a starch. Now if you have not begun any changes yourself, you are probably thinking that 3oz does not sound liked enough. I am right there with you, that's exactly what I thought! I decided to try it anyway though and to my surprise if I actually stuck with it and did it 3 times a day like she told me to, I was not hungry! I am actually to the point that I don't even snack, not at all! I am just that satisfied. Although, I do understand that this would not be the case for everyone. If you need to snack, just make sure it is something good for you! The other thing I started to do was exercise! She asked me how long I could commit to walking on my treadmill 5 days a week. I immediately said, "30-45 minutes." She looked at my sort of funny and said "how about 15-20 minutes?" Now I have to tell you, I didn't really like that suggestion at first because I was in denial honestly, about how out of shape I was. However, she went on to explain that the exercise was not about dramatic weight loss at this point, it was about making it routine, making it a part of my life. Weight loss will come as time goes by, as you get in better shape. What I have been realizing through this whole process is that we all need to make changes that will last forever. We've all been on yo yo diets practically our whole lives, but this is not one of them! This is forever, there is a starting point, but there is no ending point. Start to think of this like the little energizer bunnie, it just keeps going, and going and going, and going.....................................................................

    Differences in Scales

    I saw my dietician, my surgeon, and pulmonary all on the same day. They all weighed me in and they all came up with different numbers. They were not off too much but it ranged from 249-252 and then my home scale said 249, so how do I know what the real weight is lol. Is anyone else having this experience?
