    Sleep apnea almost cured

    that is so exciting! congrats!
  3. Hi There! That is so exciting the 15th is right around the corner! Each hospital has a different set of "Pre surgery" routines. I am sure that is all it is. I'm suppose to loose 10lbs prior to surgery and have not yet (sigh) so that is why I have seen my nutritionist more than usual. I only needed to see her 3 times for insurance purposes. I'm telling you my experience with Aetna was sooo easy!

I got a letter in the mail saying that my doc has submitted my paperwork. Then they send another letter saying we need, this, this, and this. My doc sent what they wanted and then I got a letter saying I was approved as of 3/9! My doctor said it is very normal for the insurance company to come back and say you need to send them additional paperwork. It will work out! Keep in touch!

Apnea and will NOT use Cpap

wow I never really imagined I would get so many responses! Let me comment on a few things......first is, I am never tired I am awake all day and do not take naps. I sleep 8 hours each night and am ready to go the next day, I don't wake up with a headache or anything. second, I did explain to my pulmonologist that I hated things on my face and would not wear this. I did tell him that I'd wear it the three weeks before surgery however, that was the only way I was going to get the surgery. oh yea and the other thing is....he said I don't have the apnea while I sleep on my side with is 95% of the time. Sometimes I fall onto my back for a few minutes and that is when it happens. Then I'm back on my side and its all good again. Thanks for your comments I appreciate them all and none of them have upset me so please feel free to continue your thoughts if youd like!

What are my chances? Aetna PPO NAP

Hi There! Hopefully this will make you feel better! I have a BMI of 40 and at the time of my insurance approval I had no comorbitities. My paperwork was submitted to Aetna by my doctors office....there was a couple of things extra they wanted to know and so they sent a letter to my doctor requesting it and my doctors office sent it. Then I got a letter in the mail stating they approved me as of 3/9. They were really easy for me and I have the lowest BMI that qualifies for the lap band! I think you'll be okay!
  6. I am from New England too! You know even though I have not had my surgery yet, this sounds normal....I am the one ALWAys hot! When no one else is..........your bosy is just probably get use to its new self I would think Stay warm!
  7. Oh well that makes me feel more hopeful! Thank you for telling me that! They are meeting today to see if they can fore-cast a date for me, I'm calling tomorrow if I don't hear by then!
  8. I've seen my dietician 4 times since Dec and still have not lost anything. She said Thursday (tomorrow) she will meet with the surgeon to see if he will fore-cast a date for me, she said he may want to see me again to see if there is enough room in my stomach ect.....I'm really nervous... I was just wondering if there was anyone else who was required to loose weight, didn't and still had the surgery? Thanks!
  9. My insurance has actually already approved me. The doctor requires weight loss because it will shrink your liver which will make the surgery easier. I'm praying they set a date for me. In the past I have always been on a plan when dieting (weighwatchers, jenny craig) and have always lost weight, however it didn't stay off, off the diet, weight comes back. But now that I am just trying to change my lifestyle the weight doesn't want to budge and I am discouraged!

    Contemplating Surgery!?!?

In all honesty, if you decided to do it I would suggest not telling people. The only people who know for me is, my husband and mother and father (because I live with them). I've heard stories of all the non-supportive people who try to talk people out of it. I would keep it to yourself until you've had it done at the very least. And I agree with the other comment you must do it for you and no one else.
  11. Met with the dietition again today and she said she will meet with my Surgeon this Thursday to try and forecast a date for me! Yay!

    Whoever said patience is virtue...SHUTUP

one day I got a letter in the mail saying my doc's office submitted my request and before I new it the next week I had a letter of approval...I didn't even have to call it was that fast!
  13. 1. My brother in law (who was probably six at the time, I was 20) told me that I was an eating machine. He didn't mean it to be such a mean thing but I balled my eyes out. 2. I was walking down the side walk, on the edge kind of like a balance beam and these teens were walking down at the same time and one of them mumbled "move over fatty". I know they think I didn't hear them but I did and I've been upset about that ever since.

    Birth Control on Surgery Date?

I was told that I was going to have to stop taking it prior to surgery. I cannot remember the exact amount of days before but you should give your doctor a ring and ask the question!
  15. I went to for my 4th visit with my Nutritionist. I have been seeing her since December and I have not lost any weight since. I don't know what it was about today, but today I became frustrated. I feel better, my stamina has improved and I see no difference on the scale. I'm all ready to go, my insurance has approved me I have done EVERYTHING needed to be done prior to surgery, but the weight is just not coming off. I'm honestly not sure what I am trying to say in this blog, I have no specific intention for it. I guess I just wanted to share my frustration with everyone to let you know that if you are frustrated as well, you are not alone!

    Aetna Approved as of 3/9!

Hey Everyone! I had heard Aetna was one of the more difficult insurance companies to get to approve this surgery so I was really nervous! I didn't even know that my doctor had already requested coverage for the surgery and I all of the sudden got a letter as of 3/9 that I was approved! I am so thrilled. Just so you know...I know there is a lot of talk about what Aetna requires 3 or 6 months supervised diet/exercise......I did 3 months and was approved. I am pretty sure that as long as the hospital/clinic you are getting it done at has a specific program they make you follow before the surgery, then Aeta will approve without having to do 6 months. Just thought I would share!
