    Hi! My Name is Liz.

Liz do it it I am so serious do it! Your level of happiness sounds just like mine was before surgery. My husband also was originally against (although he isn't fit) but he came around. What makes me happy makes him happy. Also, the Band is a slow progression so its not as life alterating as gastric. The band needs adjustments and it happens slowly so it gives you, and your husband, time to adjust to the changes happening in your life. Do it do it do it and I dont think you will ever regret it. =)

    Overnight Hospital stay?

I stayed overnight. When I mentioned to my doctor that I was reading about A LOT of people who did not have to stay overnight, he thought that was crazy!!!
  15. I just read that you are getting a tummy tuck!!! How flipping excited are you!!? Wow I can't wait to hear all about and you are so fortunate to have your insurance be paying for it!!!!

What should I expect from Aetna?

Did you do weight watchers or anything else that would have recorded your weight in that time period? If you did I am pretty sure insurance accepts things like that. Cant wait to hear about your appt on 9/15!
  17. I know I hate that there is one so high up too! I had no idea, when I woke up with one that high I was so surprised lol to me thats like your sternum. They said the liver lays right on top of where they need to put the band so they put this tool in that incision that holds the liver up so they can work. Gives me the creeps thinking about it lol. Have you been banded yet????

  20. i saw a dietician who said I needed to loose 10% of my weight before I could have the surgery, but I actually ended up gaining 2lbs and still had the surgery so I would say no I didnt have one.

    how private is too private?

I totally understand not wanting to tell your hubby. I didn't want to tell anyone, but I ended up having to tell my mom, dad, and husband (bc I live with all of them). At first my husband didn't like it, then he didn't like it but was like "whatever you want to do", and then he didn't care either way, and now seems to be just fine with it. I think you could just keep going along with it and not tell him, but its going to be tough to explain why you can eat only a very small amount and why you get full so fast. I think you can do it, but I think it would make your life easier to tell him. Would it make him more upset to find out before you do it or like 6 months after you do it??

    Pain meds

I was given Roxicet to go home with (which is liquid percicet) and it made me very very nausus. I called they switched me to good old vicidin which was not in liquid form. I just cut the pill in half and it went down fine. Now I take adult lquid tylenol when I need some pain meds, works great.

What should I expect from Aetna?

I went to my seminar on Dec. 8th 2008 and originally was told Aetna was one of the harder insurances to get to cover this surgery. I'm not really sure why I was told that though, I had no problems at all. The hospital submitted my request for surgery after I had completed the 3 months, and then Aetna requested a few more pieces of paperwork (which I was told was normal) and then I got the letter saying that I was approved. I paid absolutly nothing out of pocket, nothing for any visits or anything. I feel like Aetna gave me this amazing free gift lol and I love them so much for it haha. I know plenty of other people who have Aetna as well and had no problems getting them to cover the lap band. You do however have to have a BMI of at least 40 or a minimum of 35 with other co morbitities. Feel free to contact me if there are any other questions you think I can answer for you. Check out my blog too because you might find some other answers to questions you might have!!!! Good Luck!!!!
