  1. Here is the story for the last 2 months or so. So over the last 2 months, expecially the last 4 weeks, I have been eating way to much. A couple times to the point of being extremely uncomfortable. I have been eating to many slider foods.

    Right now....

    I have 6 cc in a 14 cc band.

I get up and have my coffee, my 2 eggs in the morning, a healthy choice meal or similar for lunch and I have no problems and everything is comfortable and I stay not hungry for a little while. So here is the weird thing. I cook dinner, I sit down with the fam and start to eat slow and try to eat very small bites etc. I eat untill I feel full, but it is not feeling full like normal, it comes on with no warning and I am just very uncomfortable. I stop immediately (which I have had to teach myself to do). I leave the table and think I am ok. But then, I start the slime and have to have a cup near by and then, I have to run to the bathroom, and about half of meal comes back up.

I am not sure what to think of this. I thought that we were tighter in the morning, not at night.

I am kind of lost on what to think now. I have made mistakes with my band and I want to make them right now. I want to be ok. I want to stop the slider foods. I want to stop the eating to much.

I don't think I have stretched my pouch or band, it almost feels like I have done the opposite.

Now one thing could be that I have 5 kids and dinner time is usually stressful. Maybe I am tensing up at supper time?

Please, any feedback would be so appreciated! thanks so much.

  2. Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for your post--I am in the same boat!

Have you ever tried or considered OA (Overeaters Anonymous)? I attended some meetings as part of my pre op psych requirement, and found it to be very helpful. I haven't been in awhile, but now that I'm banded and am struggling with 'head hunger' more than anything, I plan to get back to regular meetings.

    http://www.oa.org/

And I'm always looking for new friends here on LBT, so please feel free to message me anytime if you want to talk one on one.

    Take care,

    Val

Thank you so much for your response. I have been to quite a few OA meetings over the years and have even been on retreats and used to be with an online support group that was the non dieting approach to OA. I don't and cannot diet as the way society diets, with the ED. I really do believe that I can work with this band because of the intuitive eating approach.

I bring the old OA books out at times and it really helps. Thanks for the reminder.

  3. I say that because for some reason I forget. I had my first fill on friday. I am discouraged because , I don't know what I was expecting.

Before surgery I felt so well educated, so gung ho, feeling so hopeful!

I feel like my eating lately is worse then it was before the surgery. I feel like I can eat unlimited amounts of food. I am rarely hungry, but honestly I never really ate just when I was hungry. I used to eat just to eat.

Before surgery my main demon to deal with was binge eating. I always said, that if I could eliminate the binges I would be just fine. At a younger age, I went through years of bulimia. The purging stopped in my early 20's but the binging never really stopped. Though there were periods when the binging was not so much of an issue.

I really really need to work on the psychological aspect of this band. I so do not want to fail again.

Thanks for listening to my rants.

  4. Lots of luck! I hope it goes well.

    hi all,

just thought i would give everyone an update on me well i called my dr and let them know that i'm eating more and i think i need a fill so they told me to come in tuesday. so im so happy about that as i was to come in next month before. i went and got and the scale again at my dr's office and it said i gained again. and i was just on it on tuesday. so im just gonna use the weightloss clinic's scale as there's is the only one that counts. so i will only be getting weighted monthly now.

but, the funny thing is im not mad or any thing as i now relize i was weighing myself way to much. and it was only stressing me out. so he-- with that. well everyone wish me luck.:(

  5. Try not to gauge proper restriction on getting stuck or PBing. If those things happen it's because you're TOO restricted. The fact that you're feeling full quicker and for a longer period of time means you're moving in the right direction. Good luck, don't get discouraged.

I will remember that. It is amazing to me how educated I thought I was on all this and now it seems like my brain is mushing up about it.:(

  6. I was banded the 17th of Dec.

Had good restriction until just the last week or so.

I am still making good choices, but my portions are larger than at first. (still much less than what I normally would eat.)

I go for my first fill this Saturday the 31st. I am hoping it helps.

I read my surgery report and I have a large Allergan band..capacity 14 ml.

Does that mean it holds 14 cc's??

Most everyone on here has a 10cc band.

I wonder what the significance is in the different sizes. Do the larger ones not get as small when filled??? Or do they fill down to the same size, just the stomach was larger??

Dr Kirshenbaum never mentioned what size he used and I never thought about it.

How often can you go for fills? Did they tell you when you went for the first one?

I am going into Chicago and will have to ask how often they will let me come, if I don't feel restriction.

He said I could come back evey 2-3 weeks. I have made an appt for 2 weeks already.:(

  7. I had my first fill last friday, so it has been 2 days.

My concern is I have NO restriction. I can take normal bites and I am not having any problems with getting stuck, or pb or anything. I would think that I would feel something different, but no. Well maybe I do feel full quicker, a little.

    Please help me understand.

  8. Hey Rebecca!

You had put down that your current weight at the beginning was 304 and now your at 303 so that is a pound! That's something. Don't get discouraged. The best thing is that you didn't gain. It's really hard for most of us to lose at this point in the game before we get our first fill. After that point it should start coming off better. Just keep working it and it will come off!

You are right!!! Yay! Yes it is hard...grrrrr Patience. Thanks for the encouragement.
