Hi, I'm from Wellston, OH. Banded July 3, 07 by Dr. curry in Cincy. I see him Friday 13th in Columbus, OH Can anyone tell me how you know when you hit the sweet spot as they call it. In just the last month, I have strted to get full on only a couple of teaspoons of food. I try to make sure I drink a Protein shake or two a day to meet guidelines. But food is just a big turn off right now to mee. My taste just keeps changing considerably. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it normal? I have only had two fills since my surgery. Not very much. I started losing again. Couldn't get out of the 250's now down 248.4 and holding. Bought a recumbent bike and started using it daily. Also, what is the limit to fills? How many cc's? Is everybody different in this area? I didn't thnk I had lost alot of weight since 2007, but I am down by my scales 64.6 lbs. That is an accomplishment in itself, especially when you count every bite, drink etc. It is a definite effort on my part. I didn't figure it to be easy, and so since being anal in tracking things, it is a good fit for me. Thanks for the answers in advance to all that replys. Donna

:yikes: Howdy! I'm a Southern Ohio girl who was lap banded 7-3-07 by Dr. Curry in Cincy. I am very thankful for this operation, his skills, and the success I have achieved up to this point. I would be interested in joining any group who thinks I fit their criteria. I am 56 years young LOL, somedays feeling like 66. I haven't had a fill since January 07. Am going to the new office in Columbus, OH in Feb. looking to get a fill then. Love this Dr. and his staff. I am having trouble losing the same 3/4 pounds and putting it back on again. I just take it in stride. If I keep my carbs low (20-40) I lose better. I read the tip about more protein, so I am trying this. Has anyone's taste keep changing constantly? I have alot of troube with hamburger/red meat/pork etc. Not everyday, but if I eat it at lunch with know problem, can't eat it for supper or vice versa. I get chest pain, dumping, etc. I try to eat olives (5), walnuts (1Tbsp) hummus, egg white beaters in salads, seeds and protein powder to get a lot of protein. Any ideas? I was told to watch the Fat content and Carbs. Exercise is my downfall. Cannot cardio/aerobic due to accident on right side w/ total knee replacement and now Tarsal Tunnel in foot. Wish we had a Fast Track toning site around here. Haven't seen toning tables since the late 80's. Seen results on patients at Dr. C's office. WOW Any ideas? I don't know if Holzer Weight Loss Center has something like this set-up for their patientsor not. Also, they might not let others in. I wish everyone to stay warm and safe. Here's to a brand new 2009, a brand new you and me, and may this year be your best year ever. Drop me a line. Bye -

Hi, how is everyone doing today? Here in Ohio, it is cold the last couple of days, snowy. Nothing more than a light dusting. I'm of the age where I don't care for the snow anymore. Pretty to look at, but I don't ski, sled, buiild snowman etc. Is everyone doing well on their weekend? I am not. I have had an attack of the nerves, so I have been off my eating and counting routine. This is emotional eating. Bad doctor report on an IME for comp Tuesday. I got a whole ten minutes with the guy who was able to write 5 pages on this visit. I think he had his mind made up before I went into see him. Enough on him, suck it up Donna. Here's my wish for ya'all, put a smile on your face and be the best you, you know how to be. And I will do the same. Keep writing. -

mzreeda, gus's girl & jachut: Thanks for all the nice responses. To answer your question, I have gone back to my Dr. in June 08, but they didn't thnk I needed a fill then. Thought I was in zone. So, I am guessing probably this time. I live a 6 hour round trip from his Cincy office, so I don't go as often as I should. But now that he is only 4 hrs from me roundtrip, it will be nice. My appt is Feb 13th and I hope to get a valentine present of at least a pound or two off. But if not, I will go forward. The exercise is tuff for me. One side is perfect, and the other isn't, and the right foot has Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome which is caused by the accident and aggravation all these years I guess. Repetivtive movement, etc. Nerve pinching from foot up to hip. It will be teneded to this year. I have an appoinment in Feb to see a doc. When I do any type of exercise other than chair, it can cause me to not to be able to put any pressure on it, stand up on it, etc. Then I must go to doc and have 3-6 shots of pain meds, steroids etc to make it relax. Then stay off for 4 days. This has gone on since 2002. I do not tell this for sympathy. Instead give me some good ideas. Does anyone else have chair exercises? Any great video's or DVD's? We have a 4' pool I do water exerices in summer. As for our community and pool, the only inside one is for arthritic classes 2x's a week. I did these years ago. So, I feel if I can do my chair routine at home, and find some others, why go out in this weather and get wet? I think this is a great amount of weight to lose also. I am proud of it, just thought with all the tracking and counting I'd at least lose a pound a month and make progress in this second year. Perhaps this isn't how it works. Anyone else with this same situation feel free to share your experiences with me, and any hints to jump start and keep it going would be appreciated. Once again, thanks everyone for the encouragement, and sharing. It's nice to have this. -

Hello Everyone. My name is Donna, I am in my 56th year. I live in Southeastern Ohio, Jackson County actually. I have not been heavy all my life. It went in spurts with me. But in early 2000, my body just went hay-wire. I developed hypothyroidism, cataracts, HB pressure, lite shingles, and I have a total rt knee replacement, and a couple rt ankle surgeries, and a messed up right side from a work accident in 1996. Have done an enormous amount of pt, but no weight loss success. So in 2007, July 3 to be precise, I went to Dr. Curry in Cincy and had lap band performed. It reversed my HP pressure, turned my insulin resistance around, had my cataracts removed myself, shingles were lite, lasted only a few days, but the knee, hip, ankle gives me alot of problems when it comes to exercise. Throughs everything out and then to the doctor for a series of shots just to be able to walk. Would love to be able to do toning beds like Dr. C has, but it takes me 3 hrs to just travel one way there. I started at 313 lbs and am down 256 last time weighed in June 2008. Would be interested in hearing from others in area or out. Would be nice to start a support group for Vinton, Jackson, Gallia, etc or is there one I am unaware of? Happy Losing to all! -
Hi Amanda, I am new to this site, not to lap band surgery. Had mine July 3, 2007 in Cincy with Dr. Curry. It went very well. The reason I am responding is I am from the Jackson County area, and looking also for others to get together with, exercise info, I want to contact Holzer and see if they have the toning like Dr. Curry. I can't get there but every few months. It takes roughly 3 hours one way for us to drive up and back. They are wonderful. He is wonderful. I just need things a little closer. Want to be weight loss buddies? I started at 313 and at last weigh in there, June 1, 08 I ws down to 256 lbs. I haven't had a fill since Jan 08. I am beginning to have plateaus. Tell me about yourself, where you work out, etc. Thanks, Donna:thumbup:
