Fatburger with cheese... no bun.... awesome! In and Out that is just mean.... man I miss In and Out (moved from So Cal to Seattle) Jack In The Box hearty Breakfast bowl, hold the hashbrowns Denny's eggs and if you are sick of eggs (how is that possible), try a cheeseburger with no bun... their burgers are excellent. Mexican Resaraunts Huevos Rancheros, sometimes with chorizo... every mexican place you go should have this (except Taco Bell, but that is not mexican food, so it doesn't matter). btw... I really don't eat carbs, so my tips may not work for all.

hey... I box! Well, not professionally, but I box and I spar. Yes, there is risk of dislodging my port, but not much of one. I have had a couple direct hits (feels like getting punched with by someone with a pocketwatch in their hand but no issues. Do I reccomend boxing for all... probably not, but you should not do what you want to... if it's Rugby, play! Just check with your doc so they know what to watch for when you come back for a fill. oye, oye, oye!

so I made a quesadilla with low carb tortillas. I have eaten these before and not problem, but I used the bigger ones this time and did not cook to a crisp (left kinda soft). WHOA! I never knew what PB was, I mean, I knew what it meant, but it is something to experience... and then of course, followed by sliming!. What an aweful experience, I could not even drink anything for 10 or so minutes (tired to wash it down... yeah, don't do that, I said to myself). Anyway... lessons learned. I was banded in October and i am down to 243 (from 280) and wearing 38 waist jeans (haven't worn 38s since I was 16. Anyway... if you don't know what PB or sliming is... I hope you don't have to find out, it really sucks!

holy crap, now I know what PB and slime means
evobuilder replied to evobuilder's topic in The Guys’ Room
yeah, that covers it! I never knew what it meant, then when someone told me, I never understood until it happened to me.... now, I totally know and totally never want it to happen again! -
I was banded on 10/08 and at the time, I was 279 and now today, 11/20, I am at 250. I am really glad about the weight loss, but it seems like I can eat more, about 8 oz at dinner (less at lunch and breakfast)... Now... I have had 1 fill (3oz) and honestly, i am pretty happy with the volume of food I am eating, just not happy with the sloooowwwwww loss. It seems like I am only losing a pound a week (if that). Also, I am not eating any carbs, so I would have expected that to kick it up a notch as well... but I am telling you, this losing weight with the band is slow going. So? Should I be content or does it seem like I cam eating too much?

I am 3 months post op andd was wonderingg if others have any issue with taking pills (like Advil)? I am just wondering if others are still crushing pills or draining caplets after a couple months out?

if it helps, I am at the lower end of 240, 6 foot tall and I am buying 38" (not in all brands, but in Levis, I am a 38. It is a pretty good feeling, I just went to buy a pair of Jeans at Macy's, found a 40 and they were too loose... wow, too loose, that is a good feeling. I would say that I should be a true 38 at 220/230 and hope to land somewhere around a 36 for the rest of time Good luck... 46 must feel awesome after being at a 56. Keep up the good work.

to the guy drinking Redbulls... they are carbonated right? Doesn't the carbonation bother your stomach or concern you with all the talk of damage the cabonation can cause?

as a motorcyclist myself, I had to comment... umm.... coffee! Beer and riding doesn't mix! having said that, I drink Margaritas. Yes, high in sugar, but I don't drink every night and I only have 1 or 2 when i do. I step up with good tequila and go "caddilac" so I take my time drinking instead of just powering down. If anyone says a Margarita is not manly, they can take it up with Mr. Jimmy Buffet.

I have 4.5 cc in my band and can eat almost anything... but a weird thing happened. I eat cottage cheese and RESTRICTION... and how! I can eat chicken, steak, whatever and no restrictions, but I can only eat a bite of cottage cheese without restriction. I know, I know... just don't eat cottage cheese. I am just wondering if anyone else experiences these types of things with certain foods?

Bread vs. low carb tortillas..hard to eat?
evobuilder replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am able to eat low carb tortillas (make a quesadilla and pan fry without anythhing in the pan, butter or otherwise). That si about it though... two small 8" tortillas with cheese and some sort of meat, chix, turkey, etc. Anyway... I cannot speak for most, but I can say that a couple times a week I may do this... but that is about as far as I try to push it (unless, on the rare occasion, I will have some chips and queso or salsa), but again, probably not more than 10 or so chips before I am done for the night (although a margarita goes along way to making the 10 chips more enjoyable  not healthy, i know, and not on plan with not eating and drinking at the samee time... but WTH... sometimes, ya just gotta do it... for sanity sake! -
Tattoo - I probably should have waited until after!
evobuilder replied to JWhipple's topic in The Guys’ Room
ok... going in january to get my port tattooed... cannot decidde between a scope sight, a nautical star (already have one, a Bull's Eye or a X (pirate style)... you know, like X marks the spot. I like the idea of the temp tattoo just to freak my doc out the first time, but he would not be surprised, like I said, I have half sleeves and during surgery, tattos were the talk at the operating table. My only concern is the tattoo gun hitting the port... last thing I want to do is screw up my port by getting a tat over it. Sounds like a worthwhile conversation with the doc before doing it... just to be sure. Worst case.... I go around it. -
ok, here we are... I said I was going to get another fill and I did... 1.5 weeks ago. I hit 245 this morning. My doc is very conservative, he gave me 1.5 cc and said that he usually only does 1 cc at a time, but I have followed the rules soo well, that he was going to go a bit over for me (this time). I hear some people gettting 3cc at a time... I am at 4.5 total and seem to have hit my sweet spot, or maybe even a little beyond... I had restriction for the first time last week (cottage cheese). It's funny, i can eat red meat, ckicken, whatever, not much restriction, but WHOA... cottage cheese... that was rough. Just ate too much I guess. Anyway... working to see the lower side of 240s by end of year... maybe New Years will bring the 230s and I am about to switch out my 40 Jeans for my 38s. Great year and next... I am talking the advice of many and hitting the gym.

so... I have been sitting at 249 for a month. I finally went in for a fill (1.5 cc... my doc is very conservative with filling). I only have 3cc now, so this puts me up to 4.5 cc total and I have a realize band. I started this journey in Oct at 280 (and climbing rapidly back to my highest of 335). So I can live with 249... but man... I would like to see 239, 229 and so on. So here we go... December 12th... 249 and a fresh fill. Wish me luck!

Tattoo - I probably should have waited until after!
evobuilder replied to JWhipple's topic in The Guys’ Room
I see it like this.... if my tattoo becomes mishapen, someone comments on my scar (who cares... scars a cool!) or whatever else... my response is.... oh yeah, that is becuase I lost all this weight. I would lop off an arm to lose all this weight... who cares if I have a scar or a little mishapen ink. but hell... that's just me! I will take a pic of my "port tat" when I get it. -

even funnier.... I am thinking about getting a nautical star over my port. Not really for the doc to know where to inject my fills... but as a reminder to myself that I did a great thing and well... just seems like a fun thing to do! -

I have half sleeves... solid, colorful and very detailed. I have not had any issues with my ink distorting. If you notice some distorition in your arms, you can always add a little muscle... but aside from that... all is good. -
ok, here we are, Dec 9 and I am at the same weight. I am calling my doctor tomorrow and scheduling a fill... 19 days and no weight loss... I would be OK if I was at 200 but not at 250... so off I go, to get another fill. I am 8 down since Nov 1 and 20 since being banded on Oct 8, but I have certainly plateaued, and now that I am getting hungrier, I can tell for sure that I am ready for a fill. thanks for the input
-
thanks... I am only 6 weeks in... the fact that I am at 250 is a pretty cool thing. I will keep on, keeping on. I did not do this for the short term. I beleive the 1 lb a week is a much better thing than being 348 again (my heaviest many years back). Thanks for the words of wisdom. Eric

I am 4.5 weeks out, have lost 25 lbs and have transitioned to solid-ish foods. I am not having a problem with hunger and seem to be well within the calories I am supposed to be taking in... but was wondering... I was told that you would only be able to eat (or should be eating) about 4 oz. of food per meal. Is this right? Maybe I am not banded tight enough... becuase I eat about 8-10 oz. per meal typical meals are; 2 jumbo eggs with some turkey (an ounce or so) and some shredded cheese (maybe .5 oz) approx 300 cals Lean Cusine dinner (around 250 cals) chicken noodle soup (10 oz) (aroundd 160 cals) I am not snacking... only taking in around 800 cals a day, and honestly, in the past 2 weeks, may have lost a pound, 2 at the most. Dramatically different from the first 3 weeks, when I shed 20 + immed. I have had 1 fill at 3cc and was just wonddering... does this 4oz of food per meal seem right? Does that mean I am eating too much? Does 4oz of soup count the same as 4oz of solid food (since there is broth in soup), etc. I guess I really need some help trying to figure this all out. Any advice or tips?

I had the band installed 4 weeks and 2 days ago. Best decision I have ever made. I started at 280 and I am now an ounce away from 253. Not bad for 4 weeks  I have platau (sp?) but seem to be starting to drop again... andd decidded that I really wanted to join a forum and discuss this new way of life. Eric
