Emergency advice needed...
jacobsgram replied to blue_monkey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you go to your family doctor or the surgeon who did the surgery? I would call the surgeon's office. Hopefully you are better now, but if not, call the surgeon. My husband was having trouble keeping food down, but first he was eating too fast then he was too full. Hope your better. -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
jacobsgram replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on November 10, 2008. I lost 35 lbs before surgery and 15 since for a total of 50 lbs, where I seem to be stuck!! I can't have any junk food in the house, I used to be a sweet eater. But now I seem to be eating chex mix my husband makes, and I never ate it like I have been!! I find that after a fill I'm good for about 3 weeks then I start getting hungry. I am due for another fill on the 24th. Luckily I have not had any sliming or pbing, but my husband who was banded in September does. He just needs to slow down and chew chew chew!! I'm having a hard time cooking 2 small portions!! I have way too many left overs! Don't give up and try not having the junk food in the house. Drink more water and go for walks. You can do this. good luck -
Surgery date Set For January 30th
jacobsgram replied to mamame's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI Marian, YOu will survive the preop. It's a little hard, but you can do it. We go to a support group and there is a guy who had the gastric bypass and tells a story about not following the diet before surgery and he paid big time. He was really sick. So I remembered that story and stuck to my 2 week pre op liquid diet and 2 week post op liquid diet. Good luck with your surgery. It's the best thing I ever did, wish I did it 20 years ago! Congratulations!! YOu won't have much restriction now. There is nothing in the band. Sometimes it takes a few fills before you feel full. I had my first fill and really haven't felt a lot of restriction. I have my second fill on 1/21. Looking forward to it, I'm starving! I was told that you don't usually lose a lot of weight until your fills. Good luck -
Thanks for sharing that. I go on Tuesday for my 2nd fill. He did .1cc last time. But I have been really hungry this week!! My husband had his second fill a few weeks ago. He is finally learing to eat slow, now he needs to put less in his mouth!! He has had a few things stuck! Virginia Banded 11/10/08.

How well do you tolerate oatmeal?
jacobsgram replied to smatyas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I get the weight control oatmeal. But do eat the rolled oats also. My husband never ate breakfast, and thought he didn't like oatmeal!! But he eats it every day. I noticed a lot of the recipes have nuts in them. I thought we couldn't eat nuts with lap band? -
Don't all jump on me at once, but here is a stupid question
jacobsgram replied to Vicky Sab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, thank you for asking that, I have been racking my brain on what it would mean!! Thanks, -
What happens when you've over eaten?
jacobsgram replied to feathermack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 11/10/08 and just last week was allowed to have soft food. I'm sure the food you ate, irriated your stomach. Did your doctor or diatician tell you you could eat those foods? My husband was banded on 09/29/08 and he has eaten too fast and been sick. -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

I was banded on Monday, November 10th. Was on liquids and yogurt, clear soup two weeks before and Clear Liquids, clear soup and protien drinks since the day after surgery. The shakes are ok, but I liked them better when I could blend them with ice. I have had popsicles, but am afraid to drink cold Water, how long before you can drink cold stuff? I see the dietician on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving, I will be on soft food for Thanksgiving!!! -
The other day when I logging into my computer the home page was different and said I was a new user. I tried to login, but could not remember my password. So I did a new login in. If you can tell me what my old password is, I would like to keep that jacobsgram because it has my information in it and my ticker tape!
I will be out of my office at vavery@yorkpolice.org, for a week, but you can e-mail me at gingiavery@yahoo.com
Thanks you and I'm sorry.

I joined this site awhile ago, but for some reason when I logged in the other day, it didn't remember me!! And I couldn't remember my password, so needless to say, I had to start all over. I am still Jacobsgram! I go on Monday, November 10th to get banded. I have been on the liquid diet since October 27th. unjury, which is a Protein drink, yogurt, sugar free pudding, sugar free applesauce and low fat cream Soups. Then 2 weeks after surgery is clear liquids!! I am getting a little nervous about Monday, but know what to expect since my husband had it done on September 29th and he is doing great, lost a total of 54 lbs since his journey started. He gets his first fill on November 11th and he really needs it, he is starving!!

New and need support...
jacobsgram replied to Riane226's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI Riane, I also have tried all those diets lost but then gained it all back. I have been in the process for 3 months and have a surgery date of November 10th. I also looked at gastric, but was a little afraid of it, but did like the idea of fast weight loss!! But with the lap band they say the average is 2 lbs a week, which is the healthy way to lose weight. I also would like to lose 100 lbs. I've lost 27 lbs so far and am on my liquid diet for two weeks before surgery and can't wait to really get started. Good luck and I'm sure you will be able to do it! -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
jacobsgram replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YOu will do fine, but really try to slow down on how fast you eat. My husband eats too fast and he will get the hic ups, then sometimes he gets sick. I keep telling him he is eating too fast. Now he is on food and I am on the pre op diet. It really hasn't been too bad so far, 4 down 11 to go!! I'm nervous, we have to go to a wedding this weekend, I'm going to look funny bringing my skim milk, Unjury and a yogurt!! Oh well, it will be worth it in the long run. Good luck -
Hello, I just joined this group, so I'm not sure i'm doing this right!! My husband and I are doing Lap Band together. We went to our first information night in June, he sent his paperwork right in and had his first appointment the beginning of July. He had his surgery on Monday, September 29, 2008. He lost 29 lbs before surgery. I didn't send my information in until the middle of July. I have done everything that has been required so far, meet with the surgeon, the dietitian and the psychiatrist and was on the list to be reviewed in September, but the psychiatrist was not at the meeting, so I'm on the list for October! We didn't want our surgeries the same week, but hopefully I will have mine in October. I'm glad we found this site, I used it last night because my husband had a gas bubble, and I found the answer! I want to do the weight loss ticker, after my surgery, where do you find that? Hope I did this right!

HI, YOu don't have very long to wait for your date. Good luck. I am going November 10th!! In Biddeford with Dr. Carroll. I'm a little nervous, but very excited. I start my liquid diet on Monday!! But I have been eating light anyway because my husband had to, he just started eating real food, but still looking for things he can eat! He lost 29 lbs before surgery on 9/29 and has lost a total of 49 lbs so far! He is doing great, we have to get him some new clothes!! Good luck, let me know how you make out.

I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
jacobsgram replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to be on a liquid diet two weeks before surgery, at the beginning I can have like cream of wheat, oatmeal, yogurt, sugar free pudding and Unjury Shakes. It shouldn't be too bad, since my husbands surgery on 9/29 I have been eating soups and cottage cheese for supper because he has been on the post op liquid diet and it was easier to eat that for supper than to cook a meal for myself. He is now able to eat food!! I can't wait!! -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
jacobsgram replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The team met this morning and I was approved. I am getting my band on November 10th, so on Monday I need to start the 2 week liquid diet. I am very excited and also a little nervous. My husband was banded on September 29th and is doing GREAT. -
Hi, I'm not sure I will be going in October, the group doesn't meet until October 24th, so hopefully I will get a date after that. My husband is doing great, he is 1 week banded. I can't wait, although I'm not making meals for myself while he is on the liquid diet, so I'm eating Soup, yogurt, etc., for supper!! Wells is a very nice town, especially in the summer! Good luck on the 29th
