What Protein Supplement do you Prefer?
Band_Groupie replied to WannaBe1/2TheWoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bought the Isopure Alpine Punch powder. I choked it down yesterday...it was like taking medicine. Today I mixed it (1 scoop) with milk (8oz) instead of Water and threw in a banana and a handful of frozen blueberries...so much better! I bought more of the EAS Advantage Carb Control chocolate Fudge ones...love them! I'm so glad my doc never requires Protein drinks (actually says they're a no-no after solids, so it's my choice to use these immediately post-op and probably just after fills too. Living on Protein shakes everyday long-term like some do here would be the pits (and why bother getting the band). -

Welcome to LBT pbailey! We have our own forum (this thread is in our forum) for people being banded in April- Click HERE. You can then go to 'forum tools' at the top of the first thread, then chose 'subscribe to this forum'. Now when you log in click on your 'User CP' and the April 09 Bandsters Forum will show up there. There's ppages of threads on all kinds of things you can get involved with; banding; weight loss, etc. or you can start your own threads. Glad to have you as a band buddy...I go in the 22nd also! I can hardly wait!!!! -

Hee-hee! Be careful about losing that 5 pounds right away. I had to stay above the minimum 35 or 40 BMI for the whole 6 months before approval...hoping yours won't be that long! I can so relate...Read HERE. Good luck! -BG -

Welcome to LBT Laura! Yours sounds like a familiar story! I turn 50 on the 27th. I can eat more than my teenage boys...and let me tell you those too-skinny boys can eat A LOT! I also have high blood pressure, and one of my sisters has had two stroke (also diabetes, and high blood pressure). My dad has had 2 heart attacks (he's overweight but not huge...all 5 of us kids are though). Sounds familiar huh? You'll get there soon!!! You're on the journey now and that's a step in the right direction! Hang in there! -BG

If you go to the 'Forum' tab at the top here and then down to 'Doctors and Hospitals' you can do a search there or start a new thread. There are MANY people here who have used Dr. Ortiz (I saw him on the TV show 'The Doctors' too...he seemed really professional). Good luck to you and WELCOME to LBT!!! -BG

April Bandsters?
Band_Groupie replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great idea pre-op, but remember that most docs don't allow anything acidic for awhile post-op (citrus, tomatoes, etc.). LOL, yeah, we've tried to bring everyone here (this thread is on the pre-op forum, which we all won't be much longer) over to our very own April 09 Bandsters Forum- CLICK: HERE (there are lots of threads you can get involved in for people being banded in April-Bunny Bandsters so join us there.). Threads just have a mind of their own though LOL! -
Hey dear! Yep, that's why they call this 'Bandster Hell'...not enough restriction yet and yet you've got the band so you feel like it should be working! Remember, lots of people here gain weight at this point...the band isn't really working for you yet! You're kicking butt in the exercise department...I'm in awe. I can't even get motivated to get in 30 min. often enough...you've shamed me into getting on the treadmill tomorrow for longer...thanks for the motivation! Hang in there, the sweet spot it coming (and remind me I said this when I'm whining about gaining weight in bandster hell). Keep me posted!!! You're doing great!!! -BG

I feel the pain. I haven't looked at mine either...it was hard enough having DH take them (months ago)....we'll look once we've lost some, then it will be motivation and a happy thing to look at the change (I hope). :-)

Good Job Paxie! Feel better soon!

I was at my pre-op physical downtown at the hospital by 8am this morning (I’m so glad I don’t have to drive in rush hour traffic daily anymore…poor DD will be doing that route soon). The physical was basically a huge list of questions and a short bit of the usual listening to your heart, say ahhh stuff. Oh, and I did find out that the overnight hospital stay is because of a law here...interesting. I asked how the office was holding up under the stress of their head Dr. leaving. Well, of course that opened the floodgates…they’re all really hurt that he left without a word and many of them had been working closely with him for a decade (they really loved him and are both mourning his loss and are upset at how it was handled). Apparently, they did have to reschedule some surgeries last week, but my doc is now handling the load just fine. We chatted about all this for awhile and I’d made another new friend in the office by the time I left. I went on to give my gallon of blood (had to point out my best vein as usual...I have 'bad veins')... ...and then on to another department for a chest x-ray (didn’t have to do the EKG since the cardiologist had already done one). So, as long as ‘no news is good news’ from my pre-op physical, this long and winding road has finally come to an end and I'm all set for next Wednesday!!! (Tell Shel Silverstein I finally found it!)

JT- You're freaking me out again...collated & stapled (ok, I know I'm not getting stapled)...now what?! LOL! From my blog here yesterday (had my pre-op physical)... I went on to give my gallon of blood (had to point out my best vein as usual...I have 'bad veins')...

Whooo HOOO! I've been waiting to hear this from you! Got a date yet?

Great job!

224.5 today...not great, but I'll take it. It was an up and down week due to Easter travel. I've got to remind myself that the average for LB is 1.5-2 per week. It's not going to happen fast for me as a Low BMI'er and I need to accept that now or I'm going to go through this disappointed every week.

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Band_Groupie replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey BABY BUNNY!!! Woot! This is great that you're doing this at such a young age...wish this had been around years ago for me! That's awesome that you've lost so much! I'm sure it feels great. Hang in there, the sleeping should get better soon, if not call your doc and ask him if there's anything you can take to help you sleep. Best Wishes!
