    Friday Weigh Ins

Ooops..I'm late! I'm back down to 151.5 this week (150.5 today). FYI no fill at my Doc appt. on Tues. (lots of reasons- on the blog, but I'm taking it slow and I'm going to see how things go)...I'm down below my second fill when I had NO restriction, but I definitely still have some restriction now..weird. Jersey Girl...We're off to Cape May on Thursday...your neck of the woods, and I can't wait! You're looking SO good and SO close to goal now...keep it up (3 pounds a week so close to goal...unbelievable girl)!

    7/26/10 Monday Musings

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post here...I guess because there's not been nothing new on the Band front since the partial unfill and I try to make sure my posts have something Band related here. - As of an hour ago, we've now got a last minute trip scheduled to the shore before school starts. My SIL/DH just bought a place this summer at Cape May so we're going to meet them there not this, but next Thursday...guess I'll be breaking out the bikini again...yikes. - I'm back to writing (the LB book) with a new vengeance today...I wrote all morning about maintenance and outlined a bunch of new things as well. I've learned that taking a break from writing can be a good thing and that I can't force feed it...I'm sure real authors can and have ways to keep themselves inspired, but my busy life this summer was making it impossible to carve out chunks of uninterrupted (read 'three teen/twenties' constantly interrupting me) time to get creative and it was getting stale and tedious...and that's just not me! - I stopped by Barnes and Noble today to pick up a few Lap Band books to start reading at the shore...and was surprised to find they didn't have ANY (the only WLS book they even carry was 'WLS for Dummies' and after perusing it for a half-hour I realized it wasn't worth buying...nothing we all haven't heard as it's a very generalized book about all WLS). I've been putting off reading any LB books until I had at least the full outline/structure of the book all worked out so that I wouldn't be influenced or start questioning myself. It's probably for the best they didn't have any as my DH's family doesn't know about the blog or the book and they'd be wondering why I was reading these post-op. I'll just have to order some to read this Fall. - I keep forgetting to share a few things, like I went shopping again right before I left for Ohio. Ten more tops and a sundress. *Portion of Post Deleted for Lap Band Book - Also, I'm not sure if I told you that I called and moved my 'refill' appointment up...a month. It's tomorrow afternoon. I've got lots of thoughts on the refill and what I'm aiming for this time (I've got some new thoughts on where I was/want to be), but I'll save the details for now. Here's hoping the Doc doesn't toss me out on my ear when he sees I'm in a month earlier than he said...I'll let you know. - Oh and I've gone from a full 7 pounds up to reining it in to about 3-4 now...Doc will probably say I'm doing fine LOL. Happy Monday all!
  5. Not much left in this brain, but what I have is yours LOL!

  6. Thanks for the friending. Congrats on your upcoming surgery and approval...SO exciting!!! Let me know if I can help with anything! -BG

  7. I don't see how Crystal Light would be any different than water nutritionally, but if you're worried I'd give your doc's office a call. -BG

    Friday Weigh Ins

OK, I'm back home (the parents move is finally done) and I'm back down to 151.5, but here's what's happened; I quickly went up to 155 after the partial unfill...7 pound gain and there was no end in sight! It scared me and still does as I was reverting to old habits...snacks and sweets. I've reined it in and being so busy with the move helped a lot. I'm off to the Doc Tuesday, so we'll see what happens...it's a battle, but one we'll all continue to fight! Have a great week all!
  10. Hi JA!!! SOOOO glad to hear from you! I hope things are going better with DD and all your stress (I eat when I'm stressed). I went up 6 pounds very quickly after the partial unfill and it scares the bejeebers out of me...I've been fighting the snacking and sweets as well. I'm back to the Doc on Tues., so we'll see what happens. It's an ongoing battle and learning process! Keep in touch! -BG

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

I'm SO, SO, SO glad to see some old faces (LOL, or avatars) back!!! I love the daily reminders (so sorry that Lisa has had ongoing problems...unbelievable!! Tell her I hope the trips away ease the pain!) and the contest (I'm SO hoping the foot massages happen!!). It's a lifelong battle, so we can't ever give up...and there's always someone doing WAY better than we are, so comparing is just futile...at least for me. We're all here to give support and get it, so I'm glad our little group is growing again! I hope this coaxes more Bunnies back to the hutch as we all need each other no matter where we are in our journey!

    Esophageal Pain/Spasms?

Hi there! I've had no problems up to then since my last fill in early Sept. '09 and the problem was immediately resolved with the unfill. I had information from a Dr. friend who had the Band that had gone through these spasms (she's a nuclear medicine Doc for cardiology and even she thought she might be having a heart problem)...so that's why I knew what it was (plus I've had two normal heart stress tests and a routine heart MRI for pre-op that were all normal). I'm back to the Doc for a small fill (hopefully) on Tuesday, but I don't want to get to the point where I'm having reflux again. I think this is a big indicator of being too tight. I'll keep you posted on the blog. I know this all sounds very scary right before banding, but trust me when I say that I'd do it all again 100x over to get rid of the weight. My 'complications' have luckily been very minor and not all that problematic for me. Part of this was my stupidity in that I should have gone in for the unfill after the first incident...'ANY REFLUX PROBLEMS AT NIGHT MEAN AN UNFILL', just remember that and you'll do fine. -BG
  13. It still sounds like you don't have enough fill. Here's the test...eat what your doc tells you for solid protein + the total extras (veggies, fruit, etc.)...for me that means 3-4 oz. of solid protein first and up to 1- 1.5C of food per meal...if you are TRULY hungry before the next meal then you need a fill. Period. The Band is there to keep you SATISFIED between meals, not 'full' and not 'to stop you from eating more'. Best wishes and I hope your meeting with the Doc went well! Keep in touch! BG

    Belts

You are AMAZING GF!!! What a wonderful way to give back to others...you'll be GREAT Monday...I'll be thinking of you! -BG
  16. First, WELCOME to LBT! Secondly, CONGRATS on the great WL...you're doing really well!!!

Thanks for the comment too! Hope you're feeling better. Some have hiccups as their 'soft stop' (signal to quit eating), and I've heard that if they get bad they can cause some temporary swelling. Keep an eye on it and I hope your possible fill goes well!

Keep in touch! -BG (oh, and we started at about the same BMI! :-)

    Friday Weigh Ins

I can't wait for you to get there JT!!! I think that's the real reason they call it Onederland...when you're in Twoterville and are nearing Onederland it slows down to one pound at a time! Maybe that's to help you anticipate the victory?! I'm up to 151.5...I'm on a sugar high still after the holiday get-away and I HATE unfills...at this rate I'll have gained half my weight back by my next fill at the end of August...is 8 WEEKS really necessary?!! I need to refocus!

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

((hugs)) and good for you for seeking some help. I was just talking to someone about a similar problem. I'm wondering if you're too tight? It looks like you had another fill after the unfill? Bander's that are too tight often get into 'Soft Food Syndrome' where they gravitate to eating sliders because they won't get stuck (yes, cookies and chips are sliders and usually go down fine even when you're tight)...and sliders are usually high cal, and more importantly won't keep you full. Tell me more about your restriction level, what you're eating for solid protein, and how well you're chewing it. Also how well do you follow the 'no drinking' rule? If you can't eat something like meat for a solid protein first, then you're definitely too tight and the Band isn't helping you the way it was intended too.

JT- I'm so sorry for your loss. Emjay and Andrea...glad to have you both back and working your Bands!
  21. Hi and thanks for the friending! I just caught up on your blogs and you're doing great! Onederland here you come! Let me know if you need help with anything! -BG

  22. CONGRATS on your recent banding!!! There's not much you can do for the shoulder pain, but keep walking...the more you move, the more your body tissues will absorb the gas (a heating pad helped me too). You'll feel a LOT better in another day or two.

My biggest advice is to keep reading, keep the journey as positive as you can, and keep getting those fills. When restriction is perfect you should have no real hunger between meals...that doesn't mean you're 'full' it means you're 'satisfied' between meals.

I lost 100 pounds in less than 13 months and I know you can do this! Keep asking questions and let me know how I can help!

  23. Hi NN! I see you just joined LBT...thanks for the friending! If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know (click on my name and then you can either leave a visitor message, like I am doing here, or you can send a private message...don't answer here or I won't see it). Hope your LB journey is progressing well and keep in touch! -BG

  24. Hi there! Thanks for the friending and the note! I caught up on your blogs...hang in there...it took me three fills before I really had the Band helping me out. Don't forget even skinny people splurge a little on holidays...they just make up for it after...it's a Band not a Ban, so don't beat yourself up...it's SO important to keep this journey positive, trust me on that one (as a long term yo-yoer I've had enough of beating myself up). Keep me posted if you need some help, or just want someone to listen! ((hugs)) -BG
