CONGRATULATIONS! Sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk! Try a heating pad for the 'referred' gas pain (left shoulder). Some say the Gas X strips help...might be a placebo, but I tried them. Get in as much liquid as you can and rest up! Best wishes! -BG
  3. Thanks for the friending and WELCOME to LBT! Send me a message if you need help with anything here. Lots of great people and information on LBT! Best wishes in your journey! -BG

    Day 20

Hang in there...ALL of you! Keep getting those fills and it WILL get better! Sarah- I add soy protein powder (and a little extra water) to my oatmeal every morning...changes the consistency a little, but I can tolerate it in the oatmeal. I don't need even a 1/2 serving now!

    Advice!

Stop now. It will take your body at least six weeks to heal and especially the internal stitches that hold you band to your stomach are very vunerable during this time. Just because you CAN eat it, doesn't mean you SHOULD. You could cause a serious complication like band slippage. These are the six weeks in this whole lifestyle change that you need to be the most careful. I'm not saying I didn't cheat...but my cheat was moving to protein shakes just before my 4 weeks of clear liquids ended. Best wishes and congrats on your banding! -BG

    Heartburn ?? help..

Paula- I'm sure there must be a doc somewhere in NZ and you need ask your questions and go over what is happening with a doctor. None of this is 'normal' long-term like you are and some of it can cause some serious medical problems. A Psych and NUT could also help you with your diet and in dealing with the issues that make you overeat. I urge you to work at finding a new doctor. Best wishes! -BG

    Waist to Hip Ratio????

Dana- CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm SO glad you weren't turned away! This W/H ratio requirement is crazy. I'm now in the "Overweight" BMI category at 191 lbs. and if you looked at me you would say I'm a 'pear'. My W/H ratio came out at .88 'increased risk'. I found that there is at least one hospital in our area that turns down patients at increased risk (but I'm sure they don't use this criteria) as the one I went to takes on all the risky patients. You're right, it's just a matter of keeping their numbers 'good' and I'm sure the increased risk patients have an average higher cost for complications or extra aftercare. This is crazy! Again, so glad the surgery happened for you! And it WILL get better...sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. It's all worth it. Best wishes! -BG

  15. OK, now that our Independence Day Challenge is over, let's start a new one to keep us going...and hopefully more of us will get some restriction with more fills so we can all be successful! We'll start on Monday, July 13, and end on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th. That's 8 weeks total (the last challenge was for 9 weeks if that helps you set a goal). Sign up now and then update with your start weight on Monday the 13th! Same procedures apply: Hit 'Quote' at the bottom of the LAST post here (please be sure you're on the LAST post before hitting Quote there as the chain lost some updates last time) and then just add or update your own information whenever you want (delete the quote marks beginning and end of the list and anything not part of the list, ie. my words here). *Changes from the last challenge-I got rid of the current date as it's whatever date you add/update and I tightened it up a little as mine was broken in two lines. **If you want a ticker, go to ticker factory and pick the 'Objects/Actions Graphical Counter' and make one or copy mine. Click HERE to get started on a new one (or click on my ticker below and then 'Edit/Update'), then copy/paste the end ticker (not the code) to change your signature on LBT (user cp, sig). Join me! Labor Day Challenge for Bunny Bandsters

Sweetie, I only lost ten during the same challenge! Give yourself some credit...you're doing great! We have to remember, this isn't RNY (well, at least for the majority here) so the weight probably won't fall off super fast. One day at a time...we'll all get there!
