I was banded 7 months ago and have lost 26kgs. I have had two fills so far. When i eat i have to chew very very well or it hurts(this i understand). However, as soon as food hits my pouch i feel it going straight through so i figure that its not staying in the pouch the way it should . I am not losing as well as i feel i should be, amd as a result of the food going straight through i can eat way more than i think i should be able to eat. Now i am careful about portion size so i am not setting myself up to fail but i dont know if the food should just go through the way mine does or if it should be staying in the puoch much longer. I can also gult down liquids with no problem. should the food sit in the pouch for a fair while and start the digestion process in the pouch. Can you floks answer these questions for me please.

hi Fellow ozite I live out in Kurrajong and was banded back in November . Have lost my first 26kgs but have another 26 to go. You may find your pain problems will improve with the weight loss. Do you know what your BMI is? -
I have just been reading a bit about what all you folks are eating and i think I am eating way too much. I would like some comments to my average day please. Brekkie- a whey based smoothie with yogart and berries added and ground flaxseed. lunch Large piece of white fish and decent helping of two different veggies. afternoon- a banana dinner. Omlette with three eggs and added mushrooms tomato or other veg. I was banded on november 3rd 08 and have lost 26kgs. Down from151kgsto 126 Kgs I eat for health more than weight loss as i figure the two go together. But i do eat very well. Shoukld i stick with what i am doing even though my loss is not rapidand is less than it could be My BMI is 41.

What a nightmare tht was. Had my second fill yesterday . went ome and ate a small helping of thai curry - not a single problem. This morning had two very moist scrambled eggs when all h-- broke loose. The pain was unbelievable and i was drooling huge amount and wretching and throwing up. Felt faint nast and sick for half and hour as the egg battled its way through. I ate small bits chewed well but still the nightmare happened. First time I have had this happen and i need to finde out what is going on. Tried again tonight( same curry as last night) and the same thing happened it was grim. Can you folks help me shed light on this Thanks:cursing:

What a relief - had my dinner tonight -sweet potato, chicken, sprouts and peas. about a cup ful when chopped up fine. I chewed till my cheeks hurt but it all went down with no further problems. So glad as i hat the fear of trying it all out. I guess its a learning process.:smile2:

I think thay because i was able to eat these things after my first fill I assumed it would stay that way. This is a major learnigncurve isnt it. I have no idea what its all meant to feel like. Dont know what is notmal and what is not .Tonight i am going to have some sweet potatoes mashed in chicken gravy and some mashed vegies --- very very slowly and chewed to death - i will see how that goes.:smile2:

I am on to soups and baby cereal for the next five days. o be honest i would be too scared to eat anything more as it was so unpleasant. I dont even know where i will find the courage to eat something solid for fear of the same thing happening again. The scrambled egg was way soft and runny and the rice was soft in curry. thank goodness i had only eaten the two eggs and a cou-ple of spoonfuls of the rice and currie.

Actually truth is I have no idea of what to expect after a band fill. I was banded in November and have lost 25kgs so far. I had my first fill in mid december with no problems and truthfully could eat with ease though i always chew well. What should it feel like after a fill that is the correct tightness.I am also surprised at how much i can eat. I have eaten very very well since the banding covering all food groups but no bread/pasta/minimal rice . Lots of fruit and veg and decent helpings of fish /meat.I have not had to nibble and have not been restricted to half a cup of food. Can you folks fill me in a bit about what i need to be doing. thanks

Thanks for your reply . I think a small unfill is a must as to be honest i am feeling even fluid going through and it made me so sick it was not funny. I am 55years old and no push over when it comes to pain but it was horrid. I actually felt stressed out all day afterwards. Thanks for your help:blush:

Hi there. I have been banded for seven weeks now and have lost about 24lbs. As many before have said -as long as you obey the band rules and eat carefully and well you will lose weight. I walk gently twice a day about 1 mile in total so I am at the very early stages of my new excercise programme. Later when i have lost more weight i will step up the walking. I have decided to step up my walking every 14lbs . I eat heaps of fish which I adore and dont in any way feel deprived. I eat soup salad cooked vegies and always have the same breakfast every day-its yummy. I grate an apple and a small peach then add one spoonful of full fat yogart and a few walnuts. i sit and savour the flavours and eat slowly and chew well. Try it its a great start to the day. I always drink a large glass of water before I eat and have a mug of tea or decaf coffee.I had my first fill and found a minimal restriction but i am not allowing the fills to dictate how I eat instead i take the atitude that i need to eat better than ever before cause I deserve to feel well. Go for it girl oh ps I am 54 years young!!

I am a new lowcarb high protein bandster was done on november 1/08 and have lost about 12kilos. Question. I have a nice average fish fillet every day sometimes twice a day along with my vegies of choice . I stay away from bread rice pasta and the old spud, My fish portion is not small however. Is it ok to do it this way. I feel like i should feel more deprived . i eat fish at most meals cause i adore fish. how am i going do you think?I do have chicken a couple of meals a week but fish is my favorite:tongue_smilie:

I think that if we follow the correct eating guidelines the weight will come off no question I think its important to look at the big picture rather than short term .Gee its all been uncomfortable though my belly feels twice the usual size and the poor thing is big already. I sleep in a recliner and that has helped heaps .

finally did it. have got the t shirt and am now sitting in my lounge thinking - will i ever feel normal again? Sore belly lots of gas and general yuckyness three days post op. Doe this sound fairly normal?
