Band removal due to hiatal hernia & reflux
000000 replied to Nanook's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am going through a similar experience. One hospital and testing showed one thing...yet when I returned to the surgeon at his hospital, his office said it was not there. I have really struggled and when I've gone to the surgeon for help, I've left there having felt "scolded" for not doing enough..? It is SO frustrating. You end up feeling like a pile of * and a big fat failure. Yet, I cook for my husband and for myself (He has lost over 70lbs since his banding, with not one single complication.) It has affected my husband's relationship with the Dr. due to the fact that he sees and knows firsthand what I've struggled with and he is infuriated with the Dr's condescending treatment of me. At this point I just want it out. I've never felt as humiliated at a gym as I have in the Drs office. Hang in there. You are not alone. -
Just to let you know...I did see my GP and even though my labs looked good and my CTScan was clear, the ultrasound of my gallbladder showed a couple stones and inflammation. Looks like it will be coming out in the next couple of weeks. Sometimes you have to keep asking the same questions to get where you need to be...

I was banded 2/08, port revision 6/08, one fill, lost 19 lbs, gained it back. Endocrinologist appt. last week showed new, multiple hormone deficiencies including thyroid, IGF, etc. I feel like I've been a side-swiped here. Have had a few issues, but nothing like some of you folks have suffered through. More inconveniences for me really. But now I feel like a big fat failure and I've been plugging along like I've been instructed! I'm facing some back/abdominal pain right now that is wearing me down. Now it feels like I now have to begin all over again and I'm wondering if these multiple hormone issues will sink my new ship completely. Does anyone have any experiences with hormones affecting them after lapband surgery? Thanks!

Im having that type of problem tonight. It has been for a couple of days now. I have a Dr appt with my GP tomorrow. I had labs drawn a couple weeks ago that looked okay and my CT Scan didn't show any stones. This has happed 3 times since 02/08. Pretty severe pain radiating into my mid-back section, right side. Worse when I lay down. I'm sorry you are hurting too, but you eased my mind a bit knowing I'm not alone here. Can't really find a pattern to any foods during these three episodes though. I'm tired and hurting too. Hopefully tomorrow the Dr. will have some helpful ideas. Call your Dr. Good Luck and hang in there!

I had my band put in 2/08, with a successful surgery and postop check at 2 weeks. Then we had some long distance emergency travel come up and I was unable to see my Dr. until March. No fill because I had been ill. Golfed in May and felt something like a muscle "popping" in my abdomen. Immediately the previous stretching/straining muscle pain in my port area stopped and I felt instant relief. Saw Dr. in June---he couldn't locate the port and I had to have a revision the next week. Done outpatient, full sedation, they located the port, filled it and sewed it again (tightly). Felt like a puppet....lift my right arm and felt like my left leg would shoot into the air!! LOL! It is a constant annoyance for me to feel that port straining. But the procedure was quick and straightforward with no complications or surprises. Good Luck!
