2 NSV's this month. I went and bought specifically Levy jeans so I could have the 34W tag visible on them:blushing:. Sunday I finished my first 1/2 marathon 5 minutes faster than I thought I might. I'm still feeling good about that one.

You went almost a year without a stuck episode? amazing! They are few and far in between for me, but occasionally I forget and get the reminder.

GOAL You know how those Soccer announcers can stretch out saying GOAL for about a minute? I just did that. I made my goal, well sort of. My bathroom scale has me 1 lb above goal, but my WII fit has me at .3 below. I'll wait till my home scale says my goal before I move it on the graph below. But the WII fit congratulated me on makeing my goal, so I figured I would celebrate. Both scales have been consistent. I entered the program last August at 273, XL shirt 42" waist. I was banded in December. today My goal was 195 Large shirt and 36" waist. I'm comfortably wearing 34" jeans today despite it not being casual Friday. Do they still make jeans that have the waist size on the back label?

Can anyone eat rice at all?
BillOh replied to kristik99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rice in soup should definitely not be a problem. The only way white rice would be a problem is if I gulped it down the way I used to. -
Almost 3 months at goal. I still weigh myself everyday. My weight hasn't been outside of the 195-200 range since making goal in July. The 200 pound mark is a good reminder, if I get too close, I get back on track. Since I've made goal I would say my average weight is 197. I'm wearing those Levis with the 34 on the tag, so I'm happy.

Good point, with that said, if the OP added a half banana to their shake they might it helpful and save half the sugar. The other half will keep in the fridge in a small plastic bag for the next day.

Want to start running...need encouragement
BillOh replied to Claudine1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Now you have a time established and have something to try and beat. My wife has a headband and it says something like Its not that I had the courage to finish, but the courage to start". She wore that on her 14th 5k Sunday. I was able to better my 5k time 6 or 7 times, but its been the same for a while. My next one is Halloween evening, I'm hoping after a 10k and the 1/2 marathon that I can improve it again, but I don't know about this cold running. -

Well folks, my running continues to exceed my own expectations. I'm a warm weather runner, always have been. Today I ran my first half marathon. I kind of thought 2 hours would be a good target time. But with a temp of 31 degrees this morning I didn't know how well I could do. I'm happy to say despite 2 slow miles at the start thanks to walkers, I ended up running my first 1/2 in 1:54:54. Ebony, how did the 5k go? -

I read this a day late. Funny thing was, we were in the mall that evening! I'll make one of these someday. -

I did the Nike program, "Just do it" Seriously, after 3 5ks I just signed up for the 10k and ran it. I took it easy with a steady pace and found it wasn't that much harder. I ran 10 miles on Monday and 8 miles today. I may run 3 on Friday and then resting up for the 1/2 marathon on Sunday. Its supposed to be about 34 degrees at race time! -

I wanted to share with you guys, I signed up for the Columbus Marathon 10/18! Ok, I'm actually running the 1/2 marathon, 13 miles. I am hoping to complete it in 2 hours. To put extra pressure on myself, I signed up with tweetmytime.com and it will send updates when I start the race, hit the 10k mark, and when I finish. (I swore I would never twitter) If you want to follow along my twitter account is billmccall614 . I'll let you know how it goes. I plan on running 20-30 miles in the next 6 days and then 3 days of rest before the race. -
What are some dreams or goals you have for yourself
BillOh replied to Thewall26's topic in The Guys’ Room
Keep it up, your goals are very similar to mine, so let me brag a little and hopefully provide some encouragement Can't comment there. Good luck, keep at it -

I'm giving serious consideration to running a 1/2 marathon in 2 weeks. Hard to believe 9 months ago I was technically obese and couldn't run 400 yards. -

Finished 5k #11 this morning in a 59 degree at times driving rain. Was within 4 seconds of my best time, but it seemed like I was carrying 5 pounds of wet clothing with me today. This was a huge crowd/Ovarian Cancer research benefit. Next week is a personal favorite charity for a cat shelter, that will be a much smaller event I'm sure. -
Fortunately that doesn't happen often and most wait-people have more brains. If you were just there chatting and didn't order anything would they have asked you to leave? I would have probably just drank it anyway ignoring here. What are they going to do call the cops?

Side benefits of surgery???
BillOh replied to fatmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No more blood pressure medicine for me, no more snoring, I don't need the @#$# CPAP machine anymore. I've lost 80, my wife 120, and so the puzzle pieces fit together much easier now. -

HAve you googled Haglnd's deformity and running shoe? When I was diagnosed with Morton't Nueroma it took me to a couple of webpages on New Balance's website and I took those to their store and was fitted with a pair that worked for me. Been a great running season so far. -

Noting that I am not a doctor, given how much you've lost, don't be afraid to run in a little heat, just shorten up the run, or slow down and take along a little Water. More heat = more calories burned. -
Dizzy? Low Energy.. Not enough food? BP?
BillOh replied to addunn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll add to that suggestion, In addition, I changed a medication and then eliminated it during my weight loss and the doctor said that could cause this. Now, my nuerologist has taken me off one medication and changed to another one and it also has a dizzying effect when I get up quickly. I'll hear about blood tests next week. -

Well, I'll probably be keeping this thread alive awhile, hope to hear from all of you again. 5K number 10 was Friday night, did pretty well, not a personal best, but I was #51 out of 514. Not sure how I did age group wise, I don't think they kept track on this one. We will have 2 more 5ks in the next 2 weeks, but I've signed up to run a 10k with my Army Capitan nephew who has been back from Iraq, and will be in Afghanistan over Christmas. That race will be in Erie, Pa where we both were born and I will be visiting Mom and family over Thanksgiving. That is a way to burn off the holiday calories before consuming them. The area is known as Presque Isle State Park, and it could be very cold and windy in November. -
I think there is a thread. Mine was far from a horror story. The Bariatric process and personnel were great, but the Anesthesia team broke two of my crowns when they put the breathing tube in or took it out. Later they tried to deny it and even tried to cover it up. Fortunately I had just visited the dentist a week before surgery so she wrote a long letter on what condition my teeth were in before and after surgery. She also stated that it would have taken excessive effort to do that kind of damage. Only then did the hospital relent and pay for the repair of my teeth.

I'm back in Onederland after being away for 23 years. I started at a BMI of 36. That is less than many of you, does that make it any easier for me? While at some pre-surgery support groups and at informational meetings, I did get some looks and remarks from people heavier than me. I had severe high blood pressure and severe sleep apnea. Doctors thought my weight was a major factor for both. Well guess what, they were right. I am no longer on any blood pressure medicine and I'm off that @#$ cpap machine forever! I would encourage anyone who is on the border and you have the means to go for it! I haven't been happier since the day my daughter was born 25 years ago. Next year when she gets married, my tux pants will be 34" not 42" and I'll be happy to be in the pictures
-
A year will be here fast. This time last year, I was almost finished with Nutritional classes and ready to schedule. This year, I'll be maintaining until I get fitted for the tux for my daughter's wedding. Last year 42" waist, now 34"

Many Jewelers will give you a ring guard for free. Mine is very loose now. 20 years ago when I last was at this weight, mine fell off in my sleep in a hotel bed in Cape Girardeau Mo. Fortunately, I discovered it 8 hours later under the bed. If I press on the bottom of my wedding ring I have about 3/8" room. It slides off and on easy now. I had to stop wearing it and buy a cheap band to wear the last couple of years.
